Just curious, I currently pay for 3 sub fees for EVE (all for my own use) and got to thinking about how many other titles I've paid for multiple sub fees over the years and why. Lineage 1 - Had 3 accounts, 1 for myself and 2 for family DAOC - 5 accounts at one time, 2 for family Lineage 2 - 3 accounts, 2 for me, 1 for family. WOW - 3 accounts - 1 for me, 2 for family. AOC - 2 accounts, 1 for me, 1 for family LOTRO 2- 2 accounts, ditto EVE - Max of 4 accounts, all for me COH/COX - 2 accounts, 1 for me, 1 for family Guild Wars 1 - 2 accounts, 1 for me, 1 for family (yes, I know, more of a one time B2P) WAR - 2 accounts, 1 for me, 1 for family Runes of Magic - 2 accounts, 1 for me, 1 for family, yes, I know F2P , but I had to provide cash for mounts and what not for both accounts Aion - 2 accounts, 1 for me, 1 for family The only titles I found really useful to multi-box in were EVE, DAOC, and Lineage 2, with most other titles 1 account has been sufficient to enjoy the game. Just wondering how many accounts other people have paid for in their gaming careers and see if there are any of the hardcore folks on these forums, you know, who have paid for like 12 accounts to a single game (or perhaps multiple games at the same time)

No. However, I'm considering buying another Minecraft 'account' for a factions server so I can have more land and not have to worry about people leaving the faction. That's not an MMO, but it's an MMO-ish server. Join the League For Gamers. |

Had a buffbot in DAOC for a little while. That was it, for me.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

Every MMO my husband, my son, and my mom and I have ever played, we've had multiple accounts. In DAOC we had one account we didn't even play, it was just to buff us up so we could compete. UO, Asheron's Call, DAOC, LOTRO, Warhammer, Guild Wars 2, WoW to name a few.

I had approx 14 accounts while playing SWG. Normally I had 2 accounts active all the time. |

SWG I had anything from 2 - 20 accounts subbed at a given time.
Generally was just my 3 main accounts but if a obscene rescource was in shift I could have up to 20 on it just mining away.
I'd say over it's lifespan I gave SWG £5400 in subs, I did make close to £3000 back on this with selling what was the second jedi on Eclipse at the time.
I also had 2 accounts in L2 and Aion dual boxing. |

2 for Eve so that I wouldn't have to rely on others so much. And you know... the "leveling" takes ages. No need for others. Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. -Author unknown, attributed to Mark Twain |

Had multiple accounts in UO, DAOC, and EVE. Most MMOs of the MMOs I played I don't think I stayed long enough to be interested in expanding my little army of characters. Multi-boxing and alt accounts are a relatively common playstyle which is why a lot of MMO account management systems are set up to support it. I wish more MMOs would offer more promotions or extras for multi-account holders. CCP, Kings Isle and only a handful of others even try to go that route. filmoret: One thing I have never figured out is why the game devs hardly ever fix simple problems that arise. It is like they don't care about the pvp community. Nitth: What makes you so sure its a simple fix? filmoret: Because most of them are. Sometimes its just changing a number in a code string other times its creating a few variables. However none of them should take over a few hours of coding. |

2 accounts in L2 back in 2006 / 2007 1 was shared with some RL friends where we had buffers and healers (they never get high lvl but even a low lvl buff made a huge diference in L2). :) |

I had 100s accounts with SWG, with 10-15 constantly actively subbed, with about 4 main ones always subbed, and then the rest on a rotation system or when needed. In 2007 I subbed 3 accounts on the 12 month plan. After the game got the free transfers every 3 months, just before May 2011, I was going to activate about 4 more constantly to specifically transfer resources from server to server, but then the game was announced to close 2 months later, and there was no time to get that going. SWG was the best game to multibox, and my one PC managed to run up to 8 clients at one time, and with its macro system, could do some amazing things. LOTRO I have 2 LT accounts STO -1 LT and 1 free although did sub for a few months SWTOR, I bought 3 at launch, but have only needed one If I get into games that are free, I may end up creating more

Why?
If you like to be a dick to others, I can see why some want a 2nd account but I cannot see any reason for more then 1 account personally.
The other option are people that simply cannot play fair and so need extra accounts to gather more resources, own more land or whatever simply because they cannot achieve the same as others without effectivly cheating. I think people that have more then 1 account for themselves and don't have them to allow them to play like dicks are failing to see the point of playing games and treat it more like a job or life replacement. Even if I was stupidly rich I would still only have 1 account per game, just have lots of games to play. I simply don't get why it is needed for anything but player issues. |

Had 2 accounts in Eve. One for piracy and the other for scouting and hauling.

3 in lineage 2. The extras were for a healer and a buffer. Pretty common in that game to have multiple accounts. At least back a few years it was, not sure now. 4 in EVE. I would haul ore while my alts continued mining. Very common in that game to have lots of alts if you are an industrialist. 2 in DAoC. Got to have your speed buffer. 2 in WoW. For the RAF bonus. Dropped that sub after leveling. The Law of Conservation of Stupidity: |

In SWG before it got 'NGE'd i had 4 accounts.. thats the most accounts i've ever had in any MMO, next would be Eve with off and on, 2 accounts, more off than on, as the 2nd account was just a cyno alt/hauler, which don't need any more.

MMORPGs are no longer about the mass multi-user anymore *sadly* |

2 accounts for Lineage II (main char and boxed WarCryer/ISS). Friend of mine in L2 had 7 accounts (full party - all macro's non-botting) and sold power-leveling for in-game currency (he was not cheap, but you'd fly in levels with him!)
