^ I don't think they were botting/afk'ing for karma, they were botting/afk'ing for loot. |

Originally posted by TeknoBug I think they were doing it for Karma, Gear, Gold, and XP. Don't forget they sell "Leveling Services" as well. "AFK Leveling" would by far be the cheapest way for them to do it... and also sadly how some people will chose to "level" while in class/at work/asleep too. Besides if you "roam around" or change dungeon paths you won't hit any of the DR so there's no need for "special adjustments" for Karma. |

Originally posted by Stx11 Actually, once I hit DR, I even changed maps and still had DR on. And as I said before, don't think you can hit the 6k/30min DR by doing afk farming. |

Originally posted by BadSpock This makes as much sense as destroying villages to save them from communism. Ruining the game for everybody to tackle botters is idiotic and self-defeating, assuming that is their actual agenda and not limiting players ability to acquire mats. As should be obvious none of this is dissuading botters who are all still over the place. Most of these obvious botters are painfully obvious, and Anet could easily hire someone for $10 an hour to go through all the areas they tend to congregate and ban them. if in doubt, leave them be. They certainly showed no reluctance banning people for "bad" names and other trivial offenses. It might not catch the more sophisticated botters, but the real dumb ones with multiple accounts teleporting around with names like "Guardian A, Guardian B etc," you can spot from a mile away. But as someone speculated on the official forums, botters are paid players too, better ones than normal in fact as they tend to buy multiple accounts. They have to be allowed to profit before Anet brings down the hammer or they will not buy more accounts and Anet will lose money. They already have your money so you don't matter. |

i understand that most bots using hacked accounts etc and ban those wont stop them from hacking another account and do their job.. so why companies dont PERMA BAN Gold Buyers instead???! if you buy Gold Perma ban end of story...

They do both. OP: The system isn't working as intended. ANET has admitted that. They are working to fix it. It has some bugs, and its too harsh in some cases. Be patient

Only way to know is to test it yourself... That, or wait for a day before people start talking about it again...

Originally posted by Xzen They said in the Massively article that they are working out a few kinks to allow players to enjoy legit farming. Remember back when they first implemented anti-farming in GW1? There were some irritating behaviors with it. They're pretty good about working those out and do patch fairly frequently. |

It would be nice if we could sort out the facts from fiction before arguing over it. |

DR isn't suppose to hit players if they change areas. If it does, its bugged. ANET is working on it. Deal with it for now.

Oz has spoken. I feel so reassured now. Yet Oz hasn't given any specifics as to how his anti-player mechanic is supposed to work. You deal with it. |

From todays patch notes Spent some of yesterday running around Orr doing events, DR didn't kick in, did roughly five events in a row, surprised as previously DR seemed to kick in on mob drops for me quite early, think it may not have been working as intended for me. Publishing exactly how it works would be doing the botters a favour so guess work is our only option. |
