Yeah so it's not like the console game... I get true 3 faction pvp though. DamonVile- Games built for disposable players are now apparently built by disposable employees. |

I pre-ordered (actually prepurcharsed) first game in my life not so long ago. I am playing for 20 years and this was my first pre-order.
I know I will never do it again. I mau buy games short after release but never pre-order for me again. |

If people don't want MMORPG's like WoW, then why are they still buying them? I don't know about you, but I don't buy something new that I know I won't like just for the sake that it's new and there's nothing else that I want to buy. I can't wait to see a true sandbox come out, and then see how long before we hear people that have been clamoring for them for years cry that there's nothing to do (after playing it little while), or complain that there's too many carebears because not enough people want to be PKed in open world PvP. The simple fact that there were no quests, and that it was basically just explore and skill grind, was the reason I stopped playing UO many years ago. I'm not a role player and don't feel the need to create my own story explaining why I'm wondering the world and slaying critters without reason/meaning! And for those that claim that's what RP is about, not in my experience, PnP role playing games generally always involved a prepared story/adventure that players play out, and if players attempted to stray the GM always had to steer (hand hold) the players back in the right direction... Traditionally sandbox MMORPG's don't give you story/quests, or it will give you very minimal in the way of story/quest, which is why I have no desire to play one. I'm enjoying my MMO's of choice, LOTRO, SWTOR, GW2, thank you very much, and no matter how long and loud people yell that no one wants another "Themepark/WoW clone', it's simply not true, not "everyone" fits that mold.

Originally posted by ShakyMo I agree, it's obvous they are making Dark age of Camelot 2 but don't have the rights to call it that. So they're making daoc2 and just setting it in the Elder Scrolls universe. Anything Elder Scrolls that doesn't fit into their vision of a new daoc is cut from the game. This will be good news for fans of daoc, in fact TESO may even be a good game. The reason TES fans are upset, because the game's Elder Scrolls in name only. So enjoy, just don't expect an Elder Scrolls game. |

If you see no good or you see no bad in a game, chances are you are bias. |

Had a friend that had SC2 pre-ordered for several years since it got delayed back so long. Really though, people had been jumping on the GW2 wagon for some time before and many haven't touched it in some time, and SWTOR even more so with likely far more of those initial preorder players not playing the game any longer.

and once again a bunch of people are going to spend money on pre ordering somthing that will probably be totally different than what the devs are saying its going to be by the time it comes out. they will make a boat load of money off just pre orders and then they will be able to release a half finished turd that everybody will complain about. but who cares they already made all their money off the sheep who pre order every new game. if people truely want change stop giveing these companys your money till the game actually comes out and is proven to be good. |

Originally posted by zephermarkus wow numbers always boggle the mind the same way that lies boggle the mind. they had 9 million subs or so...sold only 2.7 million expansions and now have 11 million subs again. even if you assumed there were 5 million subscribers in NA/EU (and i think thats a high estimate, and also assuming the Chinese dont have to buy an expansion.) wouldnt that mean that less than half the existing NA/EU playerbase purchased the expansion? the only way these numbers would actually work is if wow had only 700k active customers in NA/EU and actually added 2 mill extra accounts. i would wager that wow has maybe 3-4 million players EQ/NA...there numbers stink. sorry to hijack the thread. I have to be honest with you. We have completely blown up the design of EverQuest Next. For the last year and a half we have been working on something we are not ready to show. Why did we blow up the design? The design was evolutionary. It was EverQuest III. It was something that was slightly better than what had come before it. It was slightly better. What we are building is something that we will be very proud to call EverQuest. It will be the largest sandbox-style MMO ever designed.--Smed |

Elder Scrolls fans don't want skyrim online.
Skyrim was IMO the worst of the "new" series (morrowinds-skyrim), skyrims skill system was extremely limiting, removed character customization, and butchered spell casting. It has less RPG elements and more action elements in order to appease todays twitch gamer who can't bear all the RPG elements.
From what I have heard about the game so far it basically is skyrim online. I am following the development closely, but am looking forward to a good RvR system. I've been craving one ever since I stoped playing DAoC and GW2 flopped on the WvW. I have hopes for this game now. |

Originally posted by MercArcher Elder scrolls fans is not a cohesive player base. The things I like about skyrim is the non-linear world and that you have plenty of options how to play out your character, I find skyrim combat to be quite weak.
From the developer videos (and faq based on the videos) I get the feeling that the levelling world in (t)eso is going to be very different from current themeparks, endgame PvE is standard themepark but what makes me interested is the RvR-system. There is no doubt that Matt Firor wants to recreate DaoC with (t)eso's RvR-system, he even says it in one of the developers videos. |
