Definatly TSW because a game released 3 months ago will definatly get shut down next.
Seriously now, i see Star Trek, Aion, and the other older games being closer to the list. GW1+2 probubly wont get shut down because they cost pennies to keep up. TSW has reported being back to making a profit and is actually growing since i seem to be helping new players with builds almost daily. Besides i see a F2P game getting the cut way before a Sub model does. Because i can. |

The Bioware staff has been cut in half. They're trying as hard as they can to make it profitable, but I'm not convinced it is. They may keep it in maintainence mode for 3 years to break even, but its certainly a burden. |

Voted Vangaurd. I think FFXIV, MO, and Darkfall should have replaced some of the other options on the poll that are obviously not going to shut down any time in the next few years at least.

Voted Aion just because the recent NCSoft report showed it was losing money and NCSoft is not shy about shutting down games lately. I see a lot of people choosing SwTOR and TSW. I don't think these people understand the market very well. SwTOR has a lot of money to recoup and is in the middle of a F2P transition. TSW is profitable now and would definitely go F2P before they would shut down. Both of those games are years away from even a thought of shutting down.

While TERA(not on the list), TSW and SWTOR are doing poorly, they have not even converted to F2P yet, therefore, if anything was to go first it would be Aion or Vanguard in my opinion, especially with NCsofts upcoming behemoth Blade and Soul coming to the west at some point i'd have to lean towards Aion. I'm just talking about the bigger MMOs though, not those random no-name MMOs everyone has seen a picture of and tried for 5 minutes before uninstalling. Those close down all the time i'm sure.
TERA, TSW and SWTOR will all obviously try the F2P route before shutting down. |

My pick isn't on that list and the game I have in mind is Planetside 1. It's still pay to play and I've seen posts that since the Planetside 2 beta has ramped up there have been something like ten total players online on the one server that still exists. Shutting it down now would probably be bad press, so I would imagine once Planetside 2 releases there will be an announcement about Planetside 1's closure. |

Originally posted by Xzen Why would Vanguard shut down? It's getting patches more frequently fixing things, and the player base has gone up. Still has a HUGE free explore world, great graphics for it's age, TONS of quests, lots of classes and races to choose from, diplomacy is a whole other game itself within the game....
I don't see it. I'd bet on SWTOR, Aion, or TSW before it. |

Originally posted by Pivotelite Pretty much this TERA, TSW and SWTOR are high up on possible shut downs but not until they've tried the f2p route. Aion I don't agree with, if TERA was actually any good then maybe but it wasn't unfortunately. Vanguards in the same boat as MO, no idea why they haven't shut it down already but since they haven't shut it down by now it kind of leads me to believe they are going to let them limp along for as long as they can which is so inhumane lol. FFXIV looks prime for a closing but thats no guarantee yet. STO is seeing content being added on a regular basis so long as this continues the few that stayed are likely to keep it afloat. CO isn't going anywhere and neither is DCUO, both fill a niche that is seeing a reduction in competition. Even Marvels "MMO" won't have much of any impact as it's a completely different game and it will appeal more to marvel fans and non MMO players. GW1 and 2 - this was just a bit of lol for me, not sure why either are on the list considering both are doing better than most MMO's on the market. Lineage 2 isn't going any where yet for the same reasons Aion is sticking around and thats because TERA flopped and failed to provide any real competition. Besides its mainly filled with long term fans.
TERA overall looks like the most likely candidate, it's not doing well in the east it isn't doing well in the west. The f2p model for KTera doesn't seem to be doing overly well either. After that I'd have to vote for FFXIV. I haven't seen enough change to warrant the majority changing their mind. So far most of the approval seems to be coming from those that stuck with the first itteration of FFXIV meaning it doesn't seem to be having much of an effect on those that left.

I know ppl dont like SWTOR, but voting that it will be shut down next shows a huge lack of intellect or reasoning. Alot of people are still playing it and game is very active everytime I sign on. We'll see what happens when the F2P kicks in. I voted for Vanguard as that games been out along time and it doesnt seem to be very active. ***Satele Shan attempts to move back in with the Raving Rabbid, but catches him in bed with Elara Dorne!!**
All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care. |

After swtor goes free to paly and nobody comes back to play it, it will be the next to go. I can remember all the talk look we got 1.4, and they did and you know what not even a bounce on torstatus.net they are still bleading subs. Free to play is not going to fix swtor, you got to fix the game first, that being said they will have to kill this game by January.

If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s FF-XIV. |

Originally posted by grimal I picked STO, then I remembered recently I did A stock search to see how much this company is worth ATM. They losed more money thie year then the whole starvault company is worth. Right now its sitting on a little over 200k Value. So this would be my next guess but it might take 6+ months depending on how long they drag it out.
STO went F2P first though. That usually means the death of games regardless of what people say. |

In the case of SWTOR, that kinda thinking isn't common sense, but simply wishful thinking. Something that haters and dislikers of that game would really, really want to happen, but not something they'd bet their 1,000 dollars on if they had it.
As for Vanguard, I don't think it'd be next to shut down either, not with the F2P move and sudden dev love and attention that it gained this year. |

Originally posted by smh_alot Your premise is not accurate, at least in my case. I chose SWTOR only for the fact that EA is running things there and I believe with every fiber of my being that they will do something stupid. Something along the lines of charging their subs for the planet Makeb. Subs should get everything in the game with their subscription but EA will try and squeeze every penny from that disaster. This will alienate that many more paying subscribers who will drop to F2P. Other F2Pers will simpy pay for the story and not contribute anything to the cofers financially. After all, when the story is completed it is a pretty shallow game at the end. Just a gut feeling and as always I could be completely wrong. Time will tell.

Back on topic, I figure if DF:UW actually releases in the next few months they'll pull the plug on the original title soon after.

I think planetside and darkfall. With both darkfall unholy wars and planetside 2 coming out. I also think with EAs woes, we will probably see uo, daoc & war shut down.
