Sony Online Entertainment has announced that a deal has been inked with Innova Systems to bring PlanetSide 2 in a fully localized version to Russian speaking countries. The partnership agreement was announced during this week's Igromir convention in Moscow. Through the partnership, online players in various international territories will have full access to PlanetSide 2, including: Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, as well as the disputed territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Other companies sequester their customer data, and or encrypt things like passwords, CC#s, and other details. SOE and Sony didn't, which is why they "had" to offer free credit monitoring for a year to mitigate liability. What other company did that. And as a side note, for a number of reasons, Russia is the top country for "criminal hacking" and most other kinds of computer based fraud and other crimes. Even ahead of China, according to the FBI, so were I operating a business there, my computer security would have to be top notch. Something SOE is not known for. Let's hope their local partner is better.
