Not bad, but I still believe they're trying to recover from the horrible Cata.
no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Iam sorry guys but you cant compare a real mmo (GW2, Rift and even dare say Warhammer online) with a game like World of warcraft anymore= This game has morphed into a 'second life/angry birds' model , and that not a bad thing. but it has a different playerbase now.

Originally posted by orbitxo I think MMOs in general have a different playerbase now. The really bitter ones are on the forums asking why things aren't the way they used to be. They have that right, of course. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

http://eu.blizzard.com/en-gb/company/press/pressreleases.html?id=6147208 Checking the Blizzard site it does look like this is an official press release by them . I'll copy and paste the import part of the press release ..... PARIS, France -- October 4, 2012 -- Following the September 25 global rollout of World of Warcraft®: Mists of Pandaria™, the new expansion to the world’s #1 subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced that millions of players have already joined the fight for Pandaria. During the first week of launch, prior to the release in China on October 2, the expansion had already sold through approximately 2.7 million copies . Please note the use of the word approximatlely . Meaning this is still just an estimate . Its probably correct but it also means it could be spin . When Cata released there was no approximatlys about it . It was "over" 3.3 million in the first 24 hours . The devil is always in the details . |

Originally posted by orbitxo Really? Do you even play Rift? I could post tens of pictures only with city chat, which is more than offensive to any decent person. Ol' Barrens chat sounds like poetry in comparison. About Warhammer online, let's face it, it flopped. The game is empty. And about GW2, when i'm gonna miss a bot infested game, diminishing returns as a solution, and no real end-game, i'll think about that. So far, still, you can't go wrong with WoW, no matter what the doomsayers preach. |

People are too biased... when a game that by all indications has hemorrhaged players, sells 2mill copies in a few weeks, its an amazing feat, (this game is supposedly a 9 in innovation btw LOL) But when WoW sells 2.7mill copies in a week on its 4th expansion it's a sign of death? |

Originally posted by Eir_S I tend to say that there are "MMORPG players" and "WoW players". This isn't meant disparagingly or qualifying. But I have heard it so often that the market for MMORPGs has "room for competition" since WoW has so many subscribers, yet every other sub-based MMORPG has significantly less, and peaks at a fraction of WoW's numbers.
The fallacy here is that the people claiming this equate "plays WoW" with "is interested in MMORPGs". And most WoWers -in my experience- are not. They play WoW and only WoW. Their hobby is not "playing an MMORPG", but "playing WoW". They either play WoW or nothing at all. |

Originally posted by Mueslinator That's strange. Most of the people I know that played WOW no longer play it. But they do play other MMOs.
WOW was the first MMO I felt offered something worth paying for every month. UO, EQ and SWG were on my radar but they all had things that turned me off.
Since quiting WOW I've played lots of MMOs, including a lifetime sub to LOTRO. WOW just does the themepark, gear grind thing better than any other MMO. But eventually that gets old. |

I and my partner still haven't bought Mist of Pandaria and we're letting our subs go this month. We did the Mist beta and didn't like the changes they made to the talent trees or the cross character achievements. That means that for the first time since 2004, neither of us will have a WoW account. We did like the new Panda's and Pandaria, we just didn't like the changes that came with it to the core game play. Blizzard lost two fans here. I wonder how many others feel as we do?

Well done blizz, loving this xpac more than past efforts.. It feels so well done and has this relax feel to it..
I think the reason it didn't past Cata sales was because some person can't get over the idea of pandas.. |

Originally posted by laserit which is pretty much what happened with GW2, which has yet to stabilise. but i do agree, how well MoP has done will really need a few weeks to give a more 'balanced' picture. |
