I think I'll do the inverse. I'm real grumpy towards GW2, and have seen a recent post that "all I ever do is hate on it". Here's my 10 things that I like about GW2. 1. Races. They're unique and for the most part look good. 2. No quest hubs. Not that I love the hearts system, but if quest hubs are a -10 on a scale of -1 to -10, then hearts are only a -5. 2a. No quest log with 400 quests to keep track of. (It's similar enough to 2. to be 2a.). 3. The cities. They look good, and have the feel of the race that they're home to. 4. Dyes. I like having them as loot. It's one of the few things that I honestly still feel that lil perk up at with excitement when I see one drop. 5. No dungeon finder. I'm sure they'll add one, but I loathe them. Not having one at least gives a tiny amount of player interaction (LFM spam may be spam, but I'll take it over total chat-silence). 6. The guild interface. It's no EQ2, but it's not bad. I can't think of anymore. I'll edit this to add 7-10 if I can think of them. :( |

Originally posted by Aerowyn Agree with zoom, although I remember the camera being worse back in beta. So improvement have been made. Now I have seen you comment before on wanting the game to have a build manager , and I have also read that you're taking your time leveling, so I'm curious as to what your highest character is. I see this as a dumbing feature which allows too many play styles too easily since anyone could then switch between multiple trait selections at will. Even in a dungeon, one person could switch this 3 times and be at their best per encounter - instead of planning/thinking in advance! I solely see this as making the game easier. I'm no fan of dungeon finders. Promoting silence and less interaciton between individuals is a no for me. Could definitely have some sort of WvW tutorial improvement. Yes, you thoughts on weapon skills choice improvement are nice. |

Originally posted by Aerowyn Would've liked that as well. Unfortunately early beta-testing showed that people were thoroughly lost without some sort of zone-progression path marker. One of the devs talked about it in an early interview. The problem is that now people treat these simple "suggestions as to where to go in a zone" as their main source of exp, which they are not. There is a delicate balance between DEs and Hearts with Karma being the main determing factor. Why some people still treat DEs as the lesser game content is beyond me because they are the only source of Karma which in turn is needed for gear progression. ANet has navigated themselves into a little corner here. With a lot of DEs being broken in endgame (my personal main ailment) sh*t needs to get fixed and going again ASAP or the stigma will stay. (That said I am having a TON of fun with the DE chains that are working and enjoy every meta-event I find. Even in low level.)

As a GW2 fanboy here are my top 10 gripes: 1. The game is perfect. 2. The game is perfect. 3. The game is perfect. 4. The game is perfect. 5. The game is perfect. 6. The game is perfect. 7. The game is perfect. 8. The game is perfect. 9. The game is perfect. 10. The game is perfect. ...ok but seriously, I only have like 3 major gripes. 1. Very little instruction on some things. For instance, the mystic forge; Not very intuitive. I only know how to use it because another player sat down and gave me a really long run down. 2. The major DE's are a bit repetitive, though there are a few rare ones that you come across that make it worth while(for me). 3. I guess I lied i cant think of a third thing right now. I'll find something if I long on later..

Edit, I forgot another thing I dont like: If you turn free camera on it has a tendency to bug out when using keyboard turning. I.E. it sometimes causes the A and D keys to turn the avatar but not the camera with it, this happens everytime I use a movement skill (Rush and WhirlWind Attack). As such I have to keep Free camera unchecked which makes it harder to pan while running. |

Originally posted by snapfusion thing is for me just running around the zones with no concrete objective is the most fun imho.. it's how I play skyrim and it's fun in this game.. you have no set path or anything just go off and see what happens. I don't need extra incentives I just need the markers taken out of the picture which you have the option for... Obviously not everyone will try to play like this but as far as immersion and enjoying the zones I find it greatly increases my enjoyment of the zones.. others like the objectives and being led from point to point and to be able to get 100% map completion as fast as possible.. game has options for both.. generally someone who really just wants to wander and get immersed really could give a rats ass about making map completion or leveling fast.. play how you want the options are there... if you feel you need to be rewarded equally for how you want to play well thats on you... The only group mobs you can't kill solo as a max exotic decked lvl 80 in any zone are the gold ones. Anything else you can clear on your own and thus get only the success path. Sure, in the lower populated servers it is possible to see a dynamic event failure, if there is absolutely nobody around to interract with it. I wish they would create alternative success paths instead of a linear A-B-C-D path, where A is absolute failure and D is absolute success.
Yes, you can place town clothes in the town slot. Apparently you can also cheat durability costs by switching to town clothes just before dying (also fall damage gives no durability losses). However, if I have equipped, say exotic karma set A which I consider best stats set for the slot with also a decent look, but I would also like to occassionally change my look to cultural armor set B, under the current system I can't do it unless I a. equip the inferior armor or b. destroy the A set and replace it with B set looks.
I didn't notice any performance drop myself, but the difference in texture quality, both on character and environment, was quite noticeable. Unless we enbrace and demand improvements and scalability in our games, we'll only end up playing with graphics the 7-8 years old consoles can handle. If a mmorpg, which is supposed to be a multi-year experience, starts its life with an already outdated engine, how will it look in a couple years from now?
My only solution to the auto attack problem is that it doesn't work, period. Which basically means that I spam the key and hope that the server acknowledges that a target is in front of me. A player is not a mob that will sit neatly in front of you, but he'll spin around and inside you and unless I keep spamming that key, the game won't attack. Other games without collision detection have solved this issue more gracefully, so I hope Anet will also catch up. |

my top 10 1) WvWvW zergs. it's a clusterf$%# and nobody can deny it. 2) level 80s in the same WvW as me :( (i want brakets, at least like 2 or 3) 3) players not loading when in large WvW battles. Seriously wtf, all i see is a crap load of red names but no players modles loading. Sometimes i'll go entire minutes seeing only red names floating arround. 4) repair costs. Not a huge problem right now because i'm at low levels but i can see this being a huge problem at end game. 5) no trinity. it's pretty boring always being the dps no matter what class you are. call me old fashined but i like to switch roles from time to time. 6) no class icon when you have an enemy targeted. this is a piss off. i know they did this just to complicate things more but it's pretty much only annoying. 7) the hearts when you cure/remove a condition...hearts? really? why not fluffy bunnies? or even bette: rainbow unicorns... 8) 80 levels.....why? you stop getting anything cool at arround level 40 and are totaly bored of levelling by level 60. why so many usless levels? 9) arrow carts are OP....jk it's the only way low level chars can kill anything in WvW. 10) wtf is wrong with the mouse camera in this game? it is so damn sticky i feel like throwing my mouse every 5 minutes. |

Originally posted by Jakdstripper This is a learn to play issue. I had the same problem, not trying to troll you. I expirimented with builds and you really can make a support based character. for instance on my guardian i have hi support specced with high healing. i have a setup where my boons last a really long time, i have 2 sets of almost constant aoe healing, with the ability to give aoe might and retaliation. while none of these are "cast heal" they definitely make a difference and i can still contribute pretty good to damage. I also have a sigil on my mace that removed boons from enemies and another sigil that gives a 30% chance of healing nearby on my hits. i was a nonbeliever before in the dungeons and you can check my posts, but ive figured it out and it really does work well. You have to put some thought into your setup for teamplay.
I have to be honest with you. We have completely blown up the design of EverQuest Next. For the last year and a half we have been working on something we are not ready to show. Why did we blow up the design? The design was evolutionary. It was EverQuest III. It was something that was slightly better than what had come before it. It was slightly better. What we are building is something that we will be very proud to call EverQuest. It will be the largest sandbox-style MMO ever designed.--Smed |

Fantasy type games with a cartoony(wow) or more artistic(GW2) artstyle have much longer shelf life in the graphics departments. No clue why your auto attack doesn't work I'd submit a bug report.. I swap my auto from a couple differn't attacks all the time and have no had a single issue with it not auto attacking once I target something.. do you have the upgrade to lock targets option unchecked by any chance? EDIT just saw this posted on another thread maybe this was your issue?
how it was explained on forums https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/professions/engineer/Engineer-Kits-Auto-attacks-Fixed engineers weapon kits (like Flamethrower) used to not have an auto-attack set. You would have to manually spam the 1 key, or Ctrl + click on the first ability to toggle it, EVERY time you switched to a weapon kit. That is now fixed and this removed a lot of the awkwardness engineers had to deal with. I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. Originally posted by rungard yea i swap builds around almost every couple levels.. not always swapping roles but playstyes all the time.. but you can easily build support focused builds with numerous classes... Much more flexible than a trinity based system IMHO once you unlock a good amount of traits and can play with numerous builds that is.. I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today.
