I'm a level 56 Ranger.
Untill level 40 or so I only saw three different coats. Then I got some nice drops and some rewards for personal story. Then a friend crafter showed me some coats he could make for me.
Then I bought some low level coats at the Trade Post, just to check them out (few copper each) and saw I missed at least a few while leveling up. (because they didn't drop for me) I now already saw at least ten different coats. I think there are many more. The problem right now is there is no preview function in the Trade Post. So you can't go check out all the different armor styles. (they are working on it though)
Edit http://donoftheslum.minus.com/mzXq5s3Le Wow, cool link. Guess I was right, there are many more. |

Weird stuff. People that actually like the game and play it find armor variety. People that think the game sucks and have troubles logging in can't find any armors.

It would be unfair to target only GW2 since this is a classic MMO problem. Devs love to copy paste skins from lvl 1 to whatever is the level cap. Rift was another worst offender in this category. The only MMO where i looked different was TSW. Lots of variety for clothing. |

Didn't really read most of the thread - but if you rely on drops your gear will hardly ever change, you should look for karma vendors as their gear changes looks like every area you go to (1-15, 15-25 etc) Keep in mind that every heart quest you finish turns into a Karma vendor.
That said, this game has a lot of ugly armor and very few likable pieces to me personally. |

Originally posted by bcbully Nah, I do think the game needs more skins but I still dont see why you kept the same look for so long. Do some dungeons, or at least buy some crafted rare gear which is cheap, exist from lvl 35 and up and look very different. I craft my own gear, not that expensive or take that much work. This is not the worst I seen in a MMO, far from it (EQ2 is the worst, new color does not a new skin make and using one single robe over and over in the entire game is just lazy) but the game do need some new skins at lower levels. I liked how low gear looks in AoC, when you start out with rags. My barbarian spent 5 levels in a sack turned into a poncho and a loincloth. |

have you looked in to all the racial armors?
Watch your thoughts; they become words. |

Originally posted by Gaia_Hunter Alot of the problem is that many people from other games actually think that blue gear is useable. It is vendortrash and they never put that much work into the look of that. But I like the game and I have to agree what it still needs some more skins at lower levels. Hopefully will the first expansion fix this, because right now you more or less get 3 choices (for each aror type) until you hit lvl 35. After that it is not really a big issue. |

Honestly, this is something I hope Anet works on soon. If nothing else, I think they need to make the lower lvl crafting gear look significantly more different. Especially from tier-tier. It's kind of annoying that all the crafted gear looks the same from lvl 10-70ish. It's only once you start crafting rare / exotics do they start to really become unique. The karma vendors also add a good amount of variety to the gear, but overall there's just not enough viable options. By this, I mean a lot of the lower-end gear looks fairly ridiculous, so you don't see people trying to wear them. The result is you tend to get people wearing the same general pieces mostly. That said, I can say that this generally only bothers me when I'm playing an alt. As aesthetically most of the armor (of the same type) that I consider decent looking is fairly similar. However, just walking around in the world / WvW / towns there is enough customization to where i don't really see many clones. Everyone looks pretty unique, it's mainly my own characters that start to look the same. I have managed to keep my 2 casters looking different, but heavy & medium armor is a bit harder to work w/. Guess it's mostly a matter of person pref, really. |

I can't see the pictures (either blocked because I'm currently at work or because they are indeed not working). What I can say though is that there are indeed various types of armors one can wear and look different for any level. In most cases people naturally are checking the stats, selling or salvaging a piece of armor with one that has less stats. The difference however can already being seeing in the name of a armor. If you as example always select to wear the acolytes armor as a elementalist (I'm one), you will always look the same. If you however, switch the acolytes with a rampagers or invadors (WvsWvsW armor) or other ones (sorry I don't remember all names right now), then you will see that you can already have around 5 or more different looks which is even more than in other mmos. Additionaly you have your civil clothes you can have on while in a city or anywhere as long as you stay outside of combat. My suggestion: - check the name of a new armorpiece - wear it even if its lower stats to see how it looks on your character - if you like it then use a basic transmutation stone and mix the stats and upgrades of your previous gear with the skin of the new one that had lower stats. Voila! Now you have a new look but kept your old good stats in your armor. :) Of course its hard sometimes since many pieces are soulbound after you wear them. You can try with white pieces once though. This way you can see how they look on you and if you like it and wanna wear it then wear a higher one (blue? green? yellow?) after you found/bought/crafted one that suits your needs. |

Maybe when they see terrible items on the TP for well above the price of what they are 'worth' they will suddenly understand what's going on. |

Op you need to use the cash shop. That is how the game is designed, to make you pay for things that are normally in the game if it was a sub. based game.

Wait, what? One primary focus of this game is aesthetic progression. If you're wearing the same outfit at those 2 level ranges its simply because you chose to or have put 0 effort in to obtaining interesting looks. My alt is 26 and her collection of outfits is bankfillingly extreme. She's come across obscene amounts of looks and sets and is half your level. I won't even mention my 80 main and his massive wardrobe of rare and lesser known looks collected from out of the way places over the levels. Want an interesting look? Do some research. The best stuff is off the beaten path. If you're popping on whatever trash drops from trash and expecting to be dazzled, reassess your outlook. Is there an armor type availabale at 2 leve ranges? Yes. Is there an astounding number of looks you could collect and achieve with a bit of effort at any level? Yes. My wife and I hunt for the out of the way pieces for lesser known looks and constantly get asked where we got our armor, even on our alts. If you're twice the level of our alts and still wearing the same look, you don't have to be, you're choosing to put no effort in to it or simply doing it wrong. That's a huge part of this game. Playing dress up/hunting rare skins. You may get lucky and get a rare drop that has a look you like, but for the most part, YOU need to put some work in to it.

Originally posted by Yamota There's what, 1 piece of armor for heavy, medium and light in the cash shop. You don't need to use the cash shop unless you want that one specific look that says 'Yeah I just bought the one piece of armor available on the cash shop, does it look as cool as your explorable mode dungeon armor?'. I understand the goal of your post, but you should have held that feeble ammo in reserve until the cash shop was flooded with armor looks only available with cash and not gems bought with in game gold, then it might have some sting to it. |

Originally posted by Yamota Actually, no you don't. There are a grand total of three armors available in the cash shop (one for each armor type). There are lots of different aromor designs beyond dungeon rewards if you know where to look for them (i.e karma vendors, crafting, etc). Though maybe not all are to your particular liking. You have no idea what you're talking about and are only here to crow out about how cash shops are the devil and subs are uber-awesome-rainbow-sparkle-time. |

Originally posted by KhinRunite It is just a question of time.
