Having been suckered into paying to play Resident Evil games since around inception, I wanted to say how bad they were. Yes, even the originals. I loved REmake. I got hooked on the pre-rendered static angles of the game. When the Dreamcast brought scrolling to the backgrounds with “Code Veronica” I was hooked. Resident Evil 4 brought on a controversy where they entirely changed the camera angle. I tried beating the game normally and even with a cheat game save with unlimited ammo for a bunch of super guns, the game lasted for hours until my memory card broke. It’s a boring, boring, boring series. Even when you mix it up with more action and more dynamic stuff… the original games were about running around and shooting or dodging zombies… it was difficult to score a head-shot on a zombie with how they angled the game. And if that’s not enough, you had to solve puzzles and backtrack like crazy. The areas would just bleed into your brain as you re-explored every zone more than once! We all cheered with the addition of the Nemesis, didn’t we? A hulking, menacing guy with a rocket launcher who chanted the word “STARS!” Pfft! I think the best of the games was the two Outbreak editions on PS2 because of each char’s unique skills and personality. I’m still annoyed it hasn’t been ported to PS3… but oh well. I just stumbled my way through RE 6 and I can’t believe myself when I say “I really would like to play as Leon again…” then there’s a “BUT” and the but is… the game sucked! And now I’m clashing with the idea of a playable Sherry Birkin!?!?! Maybe I will get back to re-purchasing Some part of me is dreading playing that new game … mostly it’s me not wanting to buy something new to find out it is drek designed for a less seasoned game player. |

Besides Resident Evil which I played long time ago and actually enjoyed I never really understood the hype for the franchise. Resident Evil 5 i couldn't even be bothered to finish because how broken the game felt on the PC.

i love the main series. i was scared out of my seat the first time i tried to open the front door of the mansion. that dog scene was a trip. runnin through the halls later from the dogs also got me going a bit. 2 i liked as well as 3. 4 just blew me away with the gameplay at the time. i was expecting a same ol same (1-3), but got a lot more for my money. 5 coulda been a bit better, and i wasn't really a fan of the partner thing, but meh, it was still fun to play. looking forward to playing 6 when i can get my hands on it. just my 2c. Experience is the best teacher.. if you can afford the tuition. |

Resident Evil 2 was a great game, I jumped many times. One time in particular was when I was investigating a spot near a 2 way mirror and something jumped thru unexpectidly.

I loved the firs 3 RE games. I still think that for survival horror they are one of the better series. There may be better games but as a whole series its gotta be up there.

The RE franchise post-2 was crap, IMO. I think Dead Space is much better, but that's personal opinion (and I'm a sci fi geek).

I loved RE1 and 2 and even RE3 (different angle) of the S.T.A.R.S. story arc. Anything past that was just not my thing. It's not survival horror it's just "survival" to me and feels hollow more like a shooter with way to less ammo. RE drifted to much from zombie survival into super mutants. Yes the story was always with umbrella and hints of their evil, but it's a difference if you are a COP in a "oh crap" everythings turned to **** overnight moment or superhero team fighting supermutants of umbrella thing it turned around past part 3. I personaly think the RE frnachise is great that also includes jp cgi movies and the latest Milla? movies.
