They need to fix people using up siege equipment. Perhaps make them explode or fire an ejector seat or something if people idle on them

Spying will happen with the odd person dual accounting and what have you.

But... stopping easy transfers will stop things like entire guilds moving en masse to cheese the game systems. E.g take a keep, then flip servers to take it back.

Wheres W v W v W espionage sabotage achievements?

heres some A-net ,you can use these for free™

Calling out false targets gives betrayar achievement points when full player gets Kreator title.

Stealing someones golem and walking it in to ocean / sleeping on siege weaponry  gives Mad drunk achievement points when full player gets AA title.

Just sabotage everything you can think of gives Sabotage achievement points and when full player  gets Beastie Boy title.

imagination is the limit.

 

Ps. Anet in normal war games theres admins and vote ban options and this kind of things are not allowed.

It happens in all new games - WoW is too old for these gents to make a big dent.

 

It is how they work - it happens - move on.

 

They were in Rift also at the beginning but Rift just put in Faction fighting(a few months ago)  - so we shall see how that goes.

Oh man, I knew they were scumbags from Star Wars The Old Republic, but I didn't realize just how big of losers they were. They were shunned on a daily basis on The Fatman server in SWTOR and now I know why. This loser Archaos thinks he's cool and skilled, but he sounds like a 15 year old emo asshat. They were all talk in SWTOR as well. Constantly bragging about how great they were, but they would constantly get destroyed in PVP.

And isn't it obvious that they followed all the elite guilds to Eredon Terrace when they switched there after getting rolled by Hedge on Denravi while they were on Northern Shiverpeaks? Ruin isn't apart of that AA alliance thing, they are just mooching off the skill of other players/guilds and calling it their own.

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC, Archaos. You have just won the award for 'Biggest Loser in the World.'

Archaos thinks his "tactics" are called sabotage and espionage, but actually it's asshattery and douchebaggery. He knows that him and his guild suck ass and cannot compete on a leveled playing field, so he has to resort to cheating by impeding the other team through their own ranks.

And yes, it is cheating. Give me one example of a legitmate and established game or sport that allows this kind of antics. Not a single one! And regardless to what ANet says about it not being against the rules, it is cheating. Their response is blanket statement used to free them of having to do something about it. They most likely don't have the manpower or time necessary to police this kind of bullshit, so they say it's not against the rules then limit free transfers to once per day. Then they just hope it resolves itself.

Well Archaos, you must be one sad little motherfucker in real life. It really makes me feel sorry for you and hope that you end your own miserable existance as to no longer be a burden to your friends and family. Wait, you probably have neither which would explain why you act this way. Ok fine, just kill yourself because you're a burden to the rest of the world. K, thanks, bye.

You are missing a minor detail here. In eve-online whenever we found out about a spy we could blow him up taking him out of the equation and position and take his shit. Here you have this spy that by now most people know about but nothing can be done about it. The dude is even holding a treb rendering it useless and talking about it to the team who's treb he is holding because they cannot do a single thing about it anway.

How is it naive to "harbor a mole" as you say if there is no system in place that allow you to deal with him other then to complain about the mechanics allowing them to do so and prevent you from doing anything about it it? That is not harboring a mole that is having to put up with a rat.

 

How realistic is that? "hey guys we have a spy here" ...."well nothing to do about it , we now know who and where he is but better leave him to it and do his thing for as long as he likes "  ...right!?

Well, anybody who places a siege equipment can take control of it, regardless of who's using it. I suppose that this can get extended to members of his own guild when he's not present, but that's about as far as I would go.

You can try and hinder (you can't totally prevent it) spying by:

  • extend the server transfer cooldown period to the amount of days a WvW match lasts (right now one week).
  • Prohibit the use and creation of characters in the two opposing servers that your character's representing guild is present.
The first is easier done than the second. You can't stop people buying an extra box and using it purely for spying.

Any hacks or exploit will get you banned sooner or later.

Spying - using up suply's - reporting troop movement - manning (disabling siege equipment)

1 more thing to add:

WvWvW will never ever ever ever be balanced its about having fun steamrolling for a few moments of getting steamrolled by 2 enemy invaders.
You win some you lose some.

Thrust me those exploiters and cheaters of Orbs are all reported and soon that might banhammer falls like it did on day 2 of GW2 when over 3000 accounts got banned.

They come in waves them banhammers remember that.


Also orb hacking has been reported numerous time's they are aware of it soon its fixed and soon free transfers are disabled.

You can be in the same guild that is on a different server from you, I don't see any issues with it. I'm one such person, I do not WvWvW much or use that to my advantage, I know some people do, but still, not that big of an issue.

Recruitment spam??? How is that exploiting or cheating or dirty tactics?? There will always be spam in MMOs, recrutment or gold sellers or just trolls.

Calling out false targets?? Really?? I mean why would you listen to a random guy? I mean sure if you all are a zerg I see a lot of ppl just falsly folowing, but comeon, anyone who does WvWvW seriously, has a guild and a large group, why do you follow some random guy???

Using our siege and admitting in chat to preventing us from using it (and falsely accusing us of exploiting): If you put down your seige weapons, you would know that the person who puts it down, is the owner, and can boot anyone else off it to use it them selves, if that person is trying to sabotage you, dont put supply onto his seige weapon, put it onto some one who you trust.

An on another note, as I said, I hardly WvWvW, I am a tPvP player and thats what I do, and from my perspective, how is spying a problem? I mean it is a problem as you are being spyed uppon, but its a ligitimate tactic just as ANet said. You never hears anyone in any war or even outside it say "No.. Spying nto allowed, you are cheating" They just spy them selves. Sadly the only issue is if you discover a spy in real life he is put in jail or worse, while in GW2 you cant do that, but than again if you are allowed to do that, it could be abused in many many ways.

I still dont se problems in the first 4 issues you stated, and as spying, yes it is a issue, but why don't you spy back, I'm sure most of the alliances have their spies but im sure they are more carefull to not be detected. As you said, spies, just coz 1 groups is bad and gives out that they actualy are spies dosnt mean they are the only ones. Im sure there a ppl who seem to help you fight their server and alliance but in return they give out positions and tactics. Its a war ffs, dont trust anyone as they can be spies, and dont cry coz ur listening to random ppl or being spied on. TBH if you know you are being spied on, give them wrong tactics and locations.

Well, you can't really compare EVE and GW2 in terms of mechanics. As people have already mentioned, if you find that somebody is a spy in EVE, there are certain things you can do to make his life hard and you can obviously shut him down as a spy. The strength of the system in this case is the lack of factions, which basically means that the player decides who his friends and enemies are.

 

GW2 and a lot of mmorpgs based on faction warfare do suffer from issues due to lack of retaliation options vs your own faction. This is just a weakness of the faction based system people will need to live with. Tbh WvW has bigger issue than one siege equipment held by some morron and spying that you can't even be aware that is happening, unless people start bragging about it.

 

As for the guy above me, calling false target doesn't work. What does work is having somebody create a diversion attack (can be just one guy attacking keep guards so the swords appear) and then another (the spy) request immediate assistance there. That would mean people running to somewhere that no problem exists, and thus stop applying pressure in a point where it's actually needed.

People do it unintentionally too, sometimes by relating too few info. "X keep is getting attacked, need immediate assistance!!!". A group of 30 responds to the call to find just 5 guys trying to sneak take the keep.

 

Another use of a spy is to downplay an actual threat. You ask "what's happening in X keep?". Answer, nothing, just some NPCs after it. Next thing you see it taken.
