Keep in mind that some professions are harder to master than others. I believe Necro is the hardest, opinions may vary, but just keep this in mind. No we arent ignoring Necro, but once people start mastering DS, I’m afraid of how strong Necro will be. Give it some time for the average player to learn these things. For example early on in LOL master yi was dominant until people learned how to counter him.

Let me try and clarify myself a bit more. Death Shroud is very powerful because it gives Necromancer access to a secondary health bar which is is much more reliably renewable than normal health is for other professions. On top of that it essentially also gives them a 3rd weapon set that they can use to circumvent the basic weapon swap cooldown to reliably bounce between powerful skills in 3 different sets. For both of these reasons, Necromancer has a high power ceiling but also an extremely high learning curve.

In the current condition heavy meta-game, there is a lot of condition removal. The problem this is causing for Necromancers is that they do not have a lot of build diversity in this meta, because they don’t have any great power builds they can turn to. What I would like to try and do is increase build diversity without increasing effectiveness because I don’t believe we have really seen what strong Necromancers can do yet.

Hopefully that explains a bit where we stand. We are still working towards getting rid of all of the bugs in everyone’s skills and traits at which point we can get a much better idea of where everyone stands. That time will also give us the chance to see where the large amount of current players actually takes the meta game.

I think the necro is the most boring class in the game...i find the skills and traits of the class to be completely unappealing.I tried to get creative and ditch the pets and be a dual dagger 'rogue type' with life taps and such, but that got boring fast as well.i couldn't stick with it.

i actually agree.. necro has some very unique mechanics like transfering conditions and such but overall the gameplay just wasn't as fun as the other classes. I played my necro to 20 and so wanted it to be my main but just could not get into the class for the life of me..  also didn't like that every staff attack was basically a ground target aoe trap.. just couldn't get into it. Know plenty who love the class just just wasn't for me

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. I think Engineer is in the same situation as well the kits actually gives a lot of combo options, but many people who plays the class still haven't learned to use them properly yet.

Actually if you use all kits for your skills, you essentially have access to 4 weapon sets at a time (not that it is necessary, at max you probably only need 2 kits and 1 skill and you already have access to a lot of dots, condition removal, constant snares and invisibility)

I'm a 47 Necro and though it is pretty boring in a sense, I'm hoping that once I'm 80 with my crafting maxed, I'll be able to explore a great deal more and ultimately figure out why I drudged through 80 levels or be broken hearted. I just like the "feel" of the class. I expected the Engineer to blow me away as I love the tech and gadgets thing (my right arm is tatted as a robotic arm in RL) but I can't get into it.

Hopefully Necro will pay off in the end.

Yeah,i wanted it to be my main too, but just couldn't do it.Another thing that may sound weird, but the sound effects of the class were getting kind if irritating to listen to lol..80 levels and beyond listening to them? Ughhghghghggh no thanks..

i dont think engineer is in the same position. there are many viable, strong, and clearly defined builds for engineer that people make use of.  For necro, people dont really know what theyre doing.

I rolled a necro alt and just didn't like it.  I really wanted to but the minions seemed weak and I felt squishy. 

 

I'm sure I was playing him wrong.  I tried dual daggers and wand I believe.  I may have tried staff as well.  I quit at level 12 I believe.  I then rolled an engineer and it was intuitive like my warrior was.  The minions seemed really weak to me.  It's probably just a case of not liking or understanding the playstyle.

I'm sure I was playing him wrong.  I tried dual daggers and wand I believe.  I may have tried staff as well.  I quit at level 12 I believe.  I then rolled an engineer and it was intuitive like my warrior was.  The minions seemed really weak to me.  It's probably just a case of not liking or understanding the playstyle.

funny because when you combine necros class mechanic and their life steal options they are the most resillient class in the game. But yea it's a playstyle thing for me just didn't care for the playstyle.. the weapon skills to me weren't that interesting and wasn't enjoying it as much as the other classes

i dont think engineer is in the same position. there are many viable, strong, and clearly defined builds for engineer that people make use of.  For necro, people dont really know what theyre doing.

Dunno, I find my lvl 16 engineer to be the most boring class of the bunch as they have no weapon options.  I know they get those fun little kits later on but in the beginning I'm suprised people stick with them as they are incredibly limited.

The necro pets are horrible and the necro heals (not counting the life siphon stuff, the actual heal abilities are what I'm talking about) are the worst of the bunch.  I imagine the necro heals suck due to most of the weapons having some form of life leech. Even with the poor healing my necro is more varied and fun than the engineer in the lower lvls.

I love my 80 necro so much.

I've got three different ways that I play him regularly. One with minions, one conditions and one life stealing/healing and all three are totally different and I like each one.

I feel like the conditions one is the strongest, I know I do best in PvP with that one, but all three work in PvE and to some extent in PvP.

Death shroud may be OP'd, I know when I play my other class alts I miss it.

The Necro is hard to master because the traits are FUBAR really.  Besdies the ones that simply don't work properly, the lines aren't specialized at all.  Each line should enhance a specific style of play.  1 should enhance wells.  1 should be for minions.  1 should be for siphoning/transfering/conditions.   1 should be for Death Shroud.  And the last could be various utylities, toughness, healing or defense.    Traits are spread out all over the place.  Its completely disorganized, which is why its not as easy as it should be.

It should be OBVIOUS what to choose if you want to be a Minion Master for example. It shouldnt be complicated.  I want to concentrate on wells and conditions?  Fine, I'll choose these 2 lines and then go a little into here or there.  But nope.  Now, you have to train a little here and get traits you don't even want or don't enhance what they should in order to get this one or that one.  It makes no sense.

Well as a warrior I had little to no issue fighting multiple mobs.  I seemed to be much squishier against multiple mobs on the necro. /shrug

 

I'm sure I'll try him out again sometime and figure out what I was doing wrong.

Necro is my highest and main currently....

Problem is that they have broken talents....

ie speed talent is broken, lifetap talents are broken, and staff talents are broken (ie the marks)...

That's why the necro is weak right now..... if you made all those talents work DS would be much more deadly.....

Once they fix the talents darkshroud will be deadly... lifetaps...aoe damage.. speed boosts.... + a rechargeable extra lifebar?

Necro *might* be the fastest class in the game if using all available speed talents while in DS and assuming spectral walk stacks.

 2, 3 ,4, 5 kite while using 1 then repeat... if anything gets on you hit DS then 2, 4 on the group.

dont start about Mesmers please.. yust make an power shatter build and see how people are confused while you have an army of clones and phantasms yust downing ur enemy in 2 seconds

 

try playing elementalist in pvp, see if you can do that :P
