The game is still growing which is absolutely great imo. This is usually when you see players start to migrate elsewhere in other mmos. I am having a blast.

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

it's nice for ANet to be rewarded for their work, and nice for NCSoft to get some extra income I guess... but I don't really care how many boxes it has sold. I only care that I can get a group when needed and that it has robust live developmnent. Beyond that? /shrug |

Originally posted by ShakyMo +1 I think that pretty much sums it up. I have already seen that some people feel lost w/o the trinnity, quest hubs and lack of a defined end game ( raids). This is the perfect game for my ADD personality, spent a good part of the morning just wandering around a aread I have never visited, leveling was the last thing on my mind. Got frustratred becaus eI could not find a way into another area and in desperation went out and googled it, turns out the area is just a name on the map, most likley part of a future expansion. I have a feeling this game will be on my drive for a long time. Might try some future games like Mechwarrior , firefall etc if they strike my fancy but it is not like I have to maintain a sub for this game so all is good.

I do think we will see a big dip on the 25th when MoP releases. I've already noticed the populations have been slightly decreasing since launch and WoW will be reclaiming a lot of its players.
Release a game with a very large established fanbase from 10+ years of bnet history when the market was still emerging and the casual base had not yet been established, thus ripe for harvesting a momentious self perpetuating playerbase people never leave because they have X hours invested in their characters, and their friends and everyone else plays anyway. Not discounting Blizzard quality... but WoW's success is as much about perfect timing as it is quality, if not more so. - Derros |

There is an inherent design flaw in the public questing system, but so long as populations stay healthy it should not be an issue. I see the game being successful and if expansions are rolled out in a strategic and timely fashion, I think there could be a steady population rise over time.
To me, this game is solid. They could add additional features and functionality with expansions and this game will only become greater over time. |

Originally posted by grimal depends, I have my doubts as to how long they will stay. From my experiences in MMOs one you leave you might go back for a while but once the initial "zing" is gone, it is gone for good. I retried UO, DAoC, SWG, and LoTRO after taking a break. Never lasted more than a month or so at most. generally got tired of them after a week or as soon as I had explored the new areas whichever came first. I really do think people are ready to move on, maybe not to GW2 but soem will and some will just game hop until Firefall, Planetside 2 or whatever sucks them in. At least GW2 you don't have to go through the hassle of resubbing and canceling the sub if you want to try something else. |

Remember Rabbids cant play MMO's, but they can dance! |

While I think the game is pretty good there are ppl like myself who find the game repetitive and somewhat lacking and dont log in very much to play. I do the same with world of tanks.. i play for few minutes and log off. ***Raving Rabbid has saved Queensdale and dances with Queen Jennah!!!*** All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care. |

Originally posted by RavingRabbid seriously what MMO is not repetitive? you kill mobs/run quests so you can get more hitpoints and better equipment to kill the level 3 mobs so you can kill the level 7 mobs. Pretty much descibes every MMO ever made other than Perfect World, A Tale inthe Desert and maybe a cpuple of other sandboxes also. I like GW2 for the exploration, I am wayyy tired of the quest hub BS myself |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Indeed. I find that while there are alot of people playing, it is VERY difficult to talk unless you are by a relatively docile waypoint. This is not a game where you can AFK. We’ll stop to sleep when the game is the best possible game we think it can be. We’ve seen the population of the game steadily rising lately and we’re not going to sit on our butts and congratulate one another, we’re going to try and build on that momentum and make the game even better. -Colin johanson on GW2 |

B2P is a door that swings both ways. In hopes to draw in gamers to a game they can play whenever they want without a fee. It also allows the pendulum to swing the other way. People can also put it down when ever they want and return on a whim. So they can continue to maintain their sub based games without feeling like they are losing from GW2 either. This means that WoW and GW2 and whatever other games people sub to can enjoy their populations as players share their time and go back and forth. People always want to see these huge impacts in player-bases when new games release. Fortunately, these impacts are never quite that large. If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win. |

Originally posted by Yamota And this is unbelievable....why? If you are playing a game that requires a lot of attention to avoid dying horribly...then you can't really look at map chat can you? This is not unique to GW2...this is like...any game. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

Originally posted by GeezerGamer or they might wonder why they are paying 15 bucks a month for a game that has a outdated game design ( quest hubs, non scalable content, end game that consists of nothing but repeating the same old raid for disposable gear etc) I have my lifetime sub to LoTRO, and SWToR is going F2P if I start missing qany of those |

Originally posted by Tardcore I agree its too soon but then every newly released MMO needs one topic like this. I would be surprised if servers are not merged in few months. It always happens. The only exception is WOW. In EU 9 servers have already settled on medium population. |
