We have a Comics tab which has MMO comics in it, there are countless comics out there but we only have MMO comics. ((At least I think so, to be honest not even sure what some of those comics are about, but the only ones I can make sense of are about MMO’s :) )) So the Game List should be for MMO games. With a separate tab for Other Games. Alternatively put them in a different section of the Games List. This is just good website housekeeping to my mind, put the games into the right box so players find them quickly and know what sort of game it is. In fact there is a site suggestion for you! |

Putting Diablo 3 on here was put to a vote and the community voted for it. I voted against it but here we are. Maybe you can get the mods to get the community to vote and see if they want Borderlands 2 added?

Oh so a community that arguably already has no clue what an MMO is in the first place now votes on what is and is not... BRILLIANT!

Being an MMOrpg is a pretty difficult mold to fit. Truthfully, we can take more games then just diablo 3 and cut them from the list. The list will be 'massively' (haha funny joke) shorter as we remove games out. Is a massive player lobby and fully instanced dungeons not enough? Well there goes games like vindictus from the list. Should channels could against this? Then there goes a lot more games.
I think the best way to define an MMO is...
1.) Are players able to interact and play with each other easily? 2.) Are characters hosted online on some large server together?
Really those points there are all I think should be needed to define a general MMo. Games like CoD with their prestige system to some extend do fit this, but much of the levels are for glamour and interaction is far more limited. From an RPG standerd (MMORPG afte rall) I think it would just need to fixate on if RPG elements are involved in the game in depth enough to be considered one, and even that can be subjective. |

The only reason Diablo III made it to mmorpg, was the revenue the traffic would generate.

Originally posted by LethalJaxx I think they list games that are somewhat related to rpg's or mmorpg's. Diablo was never a mmorpg but it is an online game, played by a lot of people and is related to other "online games". I"m glad that this site has popular rpg's and games that are online but that are of interest. If any site is to survive it has to be able to adapt. Otherwise we'll go to other sites and maybe those sites will start reporting about mmo's and maybe mmorpg will lose viewers (or whatever we are called). As long as the thrust of this site is about mmo's it's not a bad thing. |

I vote for including Borderlands 2 here too. The reason that Diablo 3 is here, despite not a "proper" MMO, is that its play style is close enough. How many will log in to WOW, hit a button and wait for a dungeon to pop? And do some AH in-between? Many players are doing automatic small group adventures in MMOs .. which is exactly what D3 and BL2 are. Now BL2 is missing a AH ... but i would consider its play style very similar to that of D3, and how many play MMOs. |

Originally posted by Xzen MMORPG is just a label. If the mmorpg.com community want to include discussion about Diablo 3, i do not see why not. Some people here are too up tight about strict definition of MMORPG. BL2 is a pretty good game (although so far, it is pretty much very similar to BL1 except the environment), and it entertains ME better than most MMORPGs. Since the play style is very close, i do not see why it should be discussed here. Plus, the MMORPG genre is changing. Holding onto what a MMO is, in the past, is not very useful. You don't see many claiming adventure games have to be text-based anymore. |
