First of all, server transfers will stop working for free soon. Then you wont see stuff like that happen (people coming to rival server to troll their population in chat, spy and use siege weapons). It would have a cooldown of like once a week and a gem cost. Then, owner of siege weapon can boot the person. You should have called the owner of that treb to boot that [RUIN] dude out and /laugh at him. Ownership is recorded until the siege weapon is destroyed so he can even log back from some PVE location and still own the treb. Can hardly call what he did exploiting because it was very easy to prevent him from doing it... just boot him from the treb... plus.... build another treb! If the owned of that treb was very far away, it means the siege went on for a long time, and you obviously could just get supplies for another one. Then, definetly people should learn to use game functions, not whine. Ignore him and explain to others that this is a person who is from the winning server who free transfererd to confuse you. If someone uses 4 rows of text to make their guild announcement frequently - report them for spamming. If one server dominates you like THAT (holding your spawn with golems) - contact other server, team uip and 2v1 them. If you cannot win 2v1, then... well, learn to play! WvW isnt about free cookies
PS: Plus you didnt touch ANY of the real exploits and hacks. On youtube people are seen flying with orbs of power right from a tightly guarded enemy castle at 10x normal speed, people are teleporting too high to evade final blow, heal to full then drop back in combat, etc. Thats real hacks and exploits that have to be dealt with, compared to seriousness of those hacks and exploits, what that [RUIN] guy did was a laughable child play
PPS: Real concern is what will happen when people buy second account for a guild member so that he can spy on enemies. They can feed him currency to pay for transfer once per 2 weeks too. That'll be a problem, probably... |

Originally posted by ForumPvP Yes you will. THere are all types of exploits in Rift. Even thought people are getting banned for it there, people still are using it as it is easier to cheat and win than to use skill and win.
All games have exploits - monthly fees or not. You are deluding yourself if you think that will change people's behavior - I think it actually makes it worse because they have a level of 'entitlement' because of the fee. |

Can't see the issue with rolling spy characters to check up on the enemy. That old chestnut has been used since time immemorial in mmos where there has been any kind of larger scale/factional pvp.
Some of the other stuff is a bit lame though. |

I actually have played with this guy, and didn't know he was doing this stuff (switching servers back and forth). That's disappointing on Ruin's part. I thought they were pretty decent. Oh well. Just because you dominate a map doesn't make it fun for many of us. Whether you are on the winning or losing side, it just becomes boring. The bottom line is, it translates into dollars for Anet. People get bored playing this way (with nothing to do in WvW), and makes them want to stop playing. Then everyone complains about how no one plays anymore, and we're all shocked when a game closes because of the "bad developers", when we all had a hand in causing its demise. Anet better stop the free server transfers soon. It kind of defeats the purpose of matching up servers if people and guilds can switch anytime they'd like. I took some screen shots over the past two days, and they show how "fun" WvW has become (at least for the ET/SoS/IoJ servers). If you notice, they are mostly all from Ruin. I just don't understand how spawn camping is considered fun. People scream in chat to let them at least attack something so you get defense experience, but that falls on deaf ears as well.

Anet's only and big failure was to believe the guy who wanted to mix PVP, Factions, and PVE undermine the nice idea of GW1 and create the abormination called "Homeserver". This should never have happened and so "Homeservers".

I asked the Guild Wars 2 support team directly about the issue. A copy paste of the OP. This was their response:

Originally posted by AzurePrower Meant as when a game sets up a state of competiton between players there will be those that take it to the extreme. Which does indeed suck for those who are just looking to have a good time.

Originally posted by Tardcore i think i'll be sticking to Eve after all, sounds too much like the GW2 W v W PvP is seriously not worth the time and effort.. Arenanet seriously need to do something about it.. though it does seem as though their hoping if they ignore it.. it won't exist.. epic fail. |

Originally posted by Tardcore WvW is not competitive PvP though, sPvP and Tournies are, and what the OP describes doesn't effect that portion of the game in any way. Your argument holds no merit. |
