I never played vanilla so this would be my list based of what i PLAYED and SEEN. 1: Burning Crusade, BC days were the best years of my vid game life so far. Having land parties with all my friends leveling or raiding. Black temple and Karazhan will be my all time favorite. The music was amazing. I mean just watch this. 2:Wrath of the Lich King, WOTLK brought my favorite baddy into WoW, arthas. All the raids and content up to The Crusaders Collseum was gold. TCC killed it for me, people cleared it way to fast and it got even worse when the Citadel hit. People say that hardmores are for people who want something hard but i believe all raiding should be hard. 3: Cataclysm, Had some good quests and dungeons but the raids were god awful. Raid finder only made things worse. I do love the worgen tho. The continuation of dumbing down talent trees was unnecessary. There argument was "to make less cookies cutter" Im sorry to break it to you but any game that allows you to modify the chars stats, weapons, skills, ect ect will bring cookie cutters. Hell look at BF3 and COD they have cookie cutter loadouts. 4: Mists of Pandaria, Looks plain goofy to me. I do like how its all about the wars between the Alliance and Horde but the inclusion of Poke battles and Kung fu panda has done it for me. Now i love the pandarens but making them out to be so goofy is a terrible idea. Rename MOP to World of Warcraft: Daycare and you would be accurate. Plus the destruction of the talent tree was another nail in the coffin.

WOW. Just WOW. 1) Burning Crusade - Karazhan, attunements, no lobby games, CC required, no AOE ftw raiding 2) original game (hate vanilla - likes chocolate) - Base game created everything else that came after, including attunements, Sithilus gates, war efforts for each new server 3) The other two - both are a pile of lobby-styled gameplay, ez mode, AOE ftw fails. Gaming since Avalon Hill was making board games. Played SWG, EVE, Fallen Earth, LOTRO, Rift, Vanguard, WoW, SWTOR, TSW, Tera |

These responses are great, so many differing opinions, it just goes to show how you can be rolling your eyes at the next expac just to find yourself playing it for hours having a great time and then you get bored 3,4,5 months later and all of a sudden trash the game. I like the guy who says he will never play again even though he has played every version and has long descriptions of them, I give him 2 days before mists launch he will have purchased the game.

Very much agree with this part. It's like Blizzard is so desperate to get new players that they made the game too easy. I think all raids should be hard mode too. But they are trying to make the game so much newbie friendly that they are forgeting that is nice to discover things on your own and become a good player (very difficult to see one nowadays).
But it's like they are living with the concept that its easy to make money substimating people inteligence. |

Originally posted by Karazul When money becomes more important then passion then im out. In Vanilla and BC Blizzard had the PASSION to stick to dark themes and hard content, I mean blood furnace heroic was IMO harder then Karazhan. Then near the middle of WOTLK when activision became more involved it went from PASSIONATE devs to GREEDY devs. Just look at some of the things Kotick says about being able to milk as much money from a game w/o spending that much.

Same here. They are desperate, you see. They never lost so many players in so little time.
I am not saying the game is terrible, It's still one of the best options out there, but after completing DS heroic for like 20 times It gets boring and most of my guild quit. Half of them will come back for MoP, and when I ask them why they say its because they put so much effort in the game that its hard to abandon. But all of them agree that there are much better games on the market now. And I am not seeing any hype for MoP, from most of the people that were in beta with me. You guys think that MoP will be the best expansion... lol... maybe for girls and kids. |

I liked WOTLK the most, it had an epic storyline and there was a noticeable improvement in art/graphics over BC. Cataclysm is unquestionably the worst expansion WoW has had, I didn’t like the fact the new zones weren’t together on there own continent, dungeons were crap; raids were crap and didn’t feel epic compared to WOTLK, vanilla or BC. Cataclysm pretty much made me lose interest in WoW and I hope they never do an expansion anything like that again. I hope that MoP is epic like WOTLK/BC and Vanilla but I fear it won’t be. |

Originally posted by Karazul I tend to play WoW when I'm away from home .Because my laptop isn't really designed for gaming . I'm playing WoW at the moment ( subs running out on the 25 th funnily enough ) but I'm seeing nothing like the buzz for MoP I saw for previous Xpacs . So I think panic at Blizzard will lead to some very good offers in the next year and loads of welcome back weeks . |

despite what people here want to think, the author's list is spot on, and shared by the majority of gamer's that actually pay blizzard's bills. The harder core players hate lich king etc, but they are the obnoxious minority.
Vanilla wow was my favorite, and cataclysm my second favorite (liked the redo of the 1-60 game). |

I never got a chance to play Vanilla, but I'd say BC, then Wrath, then Cata as a distant third... for the players' sake, I hope MoP is at least better than Cata was. I personally logged the most hours in Wotlk, but my short time in BC felt much more balanced and the world felt more dangerous outside of raids. Pretty much everything but ICC in Wotlk was a cake walk.
no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

This really shows how much MMORPG.com knows about WoW. Seems your mods don't even work at the WoW section. If you ask a proper player the answer will be: 1. Vanilla or TBC 2. TBC or Vanilla 3. WOTLK 4. Cata I'm even confident enough to add, that is the ultimate order decided by WoW players. Your list is pure crap. (in before proper player, I actually raided for 6 years.) |

Very Strange ranking by OP
My best times in WoW really were: running Vanilla Blackrock Spire (upper and lower) and then the wonderful new zones and dungeons in TBC before they made access to raids too easy, so I take it my favorite expansions will be late Vanilla / early TBC, the rest really was childish crap on easy mode |

Like most others I'd rank them: 1. BC- Best raid experience I had in WoW 2. Original - Who WOULDN'T like spirit on their Warrior gear!! Money wasn't as easy then (at least for me) 3. WotLK - AOE...everything. :-( 4. Cata - Questing was much improvd, but too linear...
Regardless of the rankings, I enjoyed them ALL. Even Cata. |

if you were into raids, you would not put BC last in wow expansions.
lady vashj was one incredible fightand when my guild beat her the first time was the proudest i've experienced in wow and one of my top 3 overall in gaming. RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid. Currently Playing EVE, POTBS Recommendation of a game you probably haven't tried: POTBS, Atlantica, L2 |

1. Burning Crusade - 10 more levels, more spec variety, less reliant on resilience, epic flying was epic, world pvp still existed, the sweet spot for raiding difficulty, attunements and the real windfury totem. Sure there is more but it was so long ago now. 2. Vanilla - Realm respect, epic riding was epic, world pvp, 2handed fury(if anyone remembers). 3. Wotlk - The only reason i'll put this over Cata is because raiding ulduar was pretty damn fun. Other than that it was pretty boring overall, world pvp was dead and questing got boring after the first go around. 4. Cata - It just couldn't keep me entertained, The only expansion I didn't raid with my guild. Though the revamps were nice and I did enjoy it but once you did it why do it again. |
