Originally posted by Aerowyn I hear that makes great MMOs... Or should I say single player RPGs, like most that have already done it. Not like I took this flight for the in flight movie, else I'm sure I would complain too. |

I like the game, but they must have been sarcastic when they wrote that script and later some other person must have had a brain fart and in error sent in the wrong script and finally those who actaully ended up making the trailer laughed all the way to the bank. I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention. |

Originally posted by Eir_S Yeah, someone who gets paid to do something, and does it for a living. I very much doubt someone actually got paid to write that monstrosity, and if they did, ANET should look into getting their money back.
Storylines, voiceovers and trailers are not mandatory for MMOs, but if you're going to put any of those in your game, at least make sure they are good, or leave them out altogether. That trailer is an example of something that should've never seen the day of light.
Or maybe I just don't have the sandbox mentality to comprehend it. |

Originally posted by Xzen Exactly my point. He's a professional writer, it's his profession, ie: he gets paid for it. Personal opinions about quality have nothing to do with the meaning of the word. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Originally posted by Krytycal Well if there's a problem, it's that the Matrix / V for Vendetta guy might not understand that video game trailers aren't movie trailers and has little to no experience marketing to a gamer crowd. It doesn't mean he's not good at what he does... just that this is not what he should be doing. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

I don't know where you stand as far as politics, and it doesn't matter. I feel the same way you do about this ad. Whoever created it should turn their hand to something with real world importance.
Or maybe the person who created the ad is such a subversive genius that the real message slipped past the suits and is telling us to get off the couch, put down the games, and turn our hands to something with real world importance?
If so, genius. I feel like pissing rightwingers off on some message board now. Which isn't all that effective either, but is less pointless than spray painting some innocent brick wall. |

Not if they don't get their act together, it won't be. Talk about dropping the ball...
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

So than, would you think that making trailers showcasing character models and combat that will never happen in-game is a better idea? think SWTOR for a second and watch the following pieces of garbage, granted the sound and the cutscene style makes it appealing but anyone buying this for what is shown will be grosely dissapointed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy31ClAPRcE&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbkE-wteHAM&feature=player_embedded

Originally posted by Requiem1066 Well, some people like turd. You ever seen that two girls one cup video?
What I mean is that at this point, whether it is good or not is subjective. Whether it pulls in customers will be the ultimate factor on if it is a successful commercial or not. In my opinion though, it's terribly cliche and it looks more like TSW. |
