Disregarding all the other i love/hate gw2 threads about heartquest. here is what i met, in the lands with NO heart quests: A very talkative community always using map to hear wahts going on where, contrary to the VERY silent zones of the rest of hte game. A land where i actually have to look and cant use my map, but need my eyes to explore. A feeling of where am i supposed to go (which i like, its an incentive to actually look around) No one chasing heart quests for xp. this is the first 1 hour in that land. i have more to say, but i best not, cause either ill sound like a fanbouy or hater. People who were all Active seaching to work together...which is rare these days.
and yes, ther is tons of bugs...like in all 30 days old mmos lol.
Edit: i feel i need to say this: it feel like this is how the game is meant to be, and that the heart quests are an addon..gonna have issues with them from now on lol.

Nice..atleast you didn't end your topic with 'you are doing it wrong' and only stopped at 'this is how it is intended to be played'. However, i disagree. GW2 is intended to be played in whatever way you enjoy it. I know a lot of players in my guild who actually missed heart quests as it gave them something to do when not getting exhausted in DE's at high level zone. A lot of them found heart events relaxing. Each to his own i guess? |

Originally posted by Nikkita im not saying its "supposed to be played like anything" im just saying, without those heartquests, i had a completely different feeling, as if the heart quests were added to accomodte players like me, and others, who are used to be told where to go :) and that feeling i got in a land with no hesrtquestt was alot better, more skyrim like, if u want me to use another shoo word in this community :) |

Originally posted by etlar Almost everything is designed on your map (not just heart events) to tell you where to go in case you want to find something. The only thing that doesn't show up on map is DE. But you did say in op that this is 'how it is intended to play' and that is why i disagreed with you. |

IN short, i im just saying it feels like heart quests should NOT have been there, only the points of interest, (for good measure) im not trying to say it should or should not be played like this or that...jst seems impossible to say anything about this game without ppl referring to something im indifferetn about. |

Originally posted by etlar I actually never said that you did . Infact i am glad and even mentioned that atleast you didn't tell people 'how to play the game'. I was just taking jab at the topics which are started with intentions of 'educating' players on how to play the game. |

Originally posted by Nikkita funny thing is the game was INTENDED to not have hearts at all or the scout system, ANET was forced by the testers to put a system in that helped hold their hands and give them guidance. The Testers actually stood around asking "What do we do"? and just watched events around them happen... HERP DERP! The Game was initially INTENDED to be played without hearts. so no matter if you agree or disagree they weren't supposed to be in the game in the first place, people who couldn't think for themselves and had absolutely no initiative forced it upon ANET. Its as simple as that. I'll look for the video where the DEV's talked about how testers went into the game when it didn't have hearts or the scout system and just watched things happen. The Devs asked the testers why aren't you going to go help? The reply was "I don't have quest for it." They refused to adventure forth and make their own path ruining ANETS original design plan, though many people like myself were drawn by the original intended design. Oh well...
(Side note) personally I avoid the scout system and try to play it the way it was intended, this causes a great sense of adventure and exploration. IamApropos |

I have thoroughly explored and spent alot of time doing the multitude of de's constantly spawning there, and have to say i agree, the community has been awesome in Orr Personally i think it's just because there aren't as many people there. Right now, without rampant friends, soloists, and guilds running through the area, there is no other way of knowing when things are going on. In 3 months, it'll feel more like the rest of the zones.
On the lack of icons depicting areas- I love the idea, though i think they make up for it, as i wandered into a few just by chance. What i mean is like in the earlier zones, you went through a narrow gap or some off the path place. In Orr, they arent hidden as well, since less people are likely to find them The Deep Web is sca-ry. |
