LEARN TO PLAY. im having to do it..lol I have to be honest with you. We have completely blown up the design of EverQuest Next. For the last year and a half we have been working on something we are not ready to show. Why did we blow up the design? The design was evolutionary. It was EverQuest III. It was something that was slightly better than what had come before it. It was slightly better. What we are building is something that we will be very proud to call EverQuest. It will be the largest sandbox-style MMO ever designed.--Smed |

We have so many MMOs with the trinity system. If you prefer that type of system go play those games. Most people ask for something different and once they get it they complain that the new game is too different than the older stuff... It's silly imo.

Originally posted by Castillle I also like Necros and their combo fields. Lots of condition removal and life steal to keep a group alive. Shame my Ele spec only comes with the good old fire field that ArenaNet loved to talk about. |

You could ask Atlan99 what his team is doing. There is another thread going on were he says his team is running the typical trinity in GW2 no problem.

I have to say that Ascalon Catacombs is very hard for a starting dungeon. The next one Caudecus Mansion was a lot easier and shorter. I was glad I did it with my guildies and we had TS.....

One post from you without talking about WoW, please? Just one? Doesn't seem you know that there are actually quite a lot of MMOs out there... Btw, OP. I don't play this game, and I know little about it. But it's quite known that this game doesn't follow the traditional trinity system. Next time, some research before buying may be a good idea. |

You cant tank for to long - kite Then you step in again rinse and repeat, i love it :) Any1 saying GW2 is easy mode dint try it or they would stand in a corner crying for hours on end. Ive wiped alot, but i learned alot, go in there with competend people who know how to play, not a random kid who think who knows it all. http://speedtest.net/result/2112016336.png |

I've only been through two dungeons so far (CM and AC story modes), and really had no major problems.
In AC, we only hadd two real sources of death. Everyone started clicking coffins in the first room, so we got overwhelmed. And we had some trouble getting Lovers to separate properly.
In CM, the first boss (that golem thing) was the only major challenge. We had to zerg him because he just ate us alive. other than that the instance was a breeze. |

Originally posted by tzat So you are terrible and game is too hard for you so you think it's pointless ? You were doing same thing over and over again in one game and you expect to do the same in another ? You didn't think for a second that SOME OF YOU could take a role as a healer or something ? Someone could act like a tank. Start talking with people. Don't just go there waving around your weapon like you own the plice. Or you would be wiped.

i think most have a fit with the 1st boss in AC exp mode this boss 1 hits if he get next to you and there is no way to get out of it. if he can use his pull and pull the hole party in the party is dead. and if you go down and some one tries to res you they are dead i think ANet need to get rid of the 2 helper's he has then it will be ok as they can almost one hit you too and it just make the fight almost to hard to do.

I don't agree they're pointless. I do think that so far most of them are highly unremarkable or fail to feel really epic. The only memorable dungeon I have expereinced so far was SE which is a level 60 dungeon. That was the first time any boss fights stood out to me as being noteworthy far as when dealing with story mode versions. They don't have to be zerg filled wipes until you kill the boss either. Just takes some coordination is all and people doing more than simply trying to dps. Anyways, they aren't pointless, but I wouldn't say they're a strong suit of this game either. Although I haven't done the level 70 dungeon. It is so far out of the fucking way from where I have explored really don't have a desire to travel to it. Which kind of reflects how little the dungeons have impressed me in this game. Doubt I'll do another one until I hit 80 since believe thankfully those are around Orr where I'll be running around anyways. Kind of odd really. Beforehand the strong selling point for me were the dungeons and weakest was WvW. As it stands I have been pleasantly surprised with how much fun WvW has been and how disappointing and dull the dungeons are. EDIT: So I made the mistake of actually working my way to CoF. Talk about lame. Can't even find a group for it due to its location. Apparently many stuck with my thinking that it isn't worth the trek. Seriously need a better grp finder in place. EDIT2: After a ridiculous amount of time formed a group for CoF. Not bad really. The higher level dungeons definitely offer more to be had. Still...game really needs more for grouping. As usual with these games in the beginning. Not sure why companies never learn. 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

Forgive my ignorance, but from my own experience and from what others have described, this almost sounds like a game that REQUIRES you to use a separate voice chat Vent/Teamspeak/Mumble type communication to effectively run dungeons. Unless you plan to run them only with the same people you know that have it down already. How can you make sure to have abilities ready and off cooldown without someone saying "such and such ability in 3, 2, 1..."? It would hardly seem practical to stop and type that out. Also, even if you sit down with the group before hand and talk strategy, it seems like you really have to know what other classes have going on rather than just focusing on your own role, which to me seems like a level of attention and focus that will be very difficult to maintain in 90% of pick-up groups. The day I am forced to use voice chat to play content is the day I abandon playing that content. Especially with no built-in voice chat available as in other titles. Perhaps that is something they will add at a later date. |
