Originally posted by Wickedjelly Yeah I agree...they should make it so you can basically live in WvW if you want to. One of my issues with it is regarding leveling. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

Helping people try to enjoy a game = fanboi /cheerleader on these forums just gotta accept that and move on :) nice to see these posts though where people are genuinely trying to help others.. Sad people still bash him for it... Anyway see yall back in tyria

Originally posted by Wickedjelly There's a huge difference between praising a game because you are blindly and hopelessly committed to doing so (the traditional definition of fanboy) and becoming a legitimate fan because so many of the game's features have proven to be overwhelmingly positive. Anyone who makes fanboy accusations against people who fall into the latter category have their causality backwards. If, after passing one's critical analysis, a game emerges favorably, it will (and should) be spoken of favorably. The opposite is true as well. Fanboyism applies to one's approach to the critical analysis of the game, not the resulting conclusions. As for this whole thread, I'm really surprised you've let such an obvious troll get to you so much, Creslin. We all know the purpose of these forums and of such threads. So does he. He just wanted nothing other than to rain on your parade and apparently has succeeded. |

Originally posted by Torgrim I agree with this post. While I appreciate what the OP is trying to do with this thread, and it may help some people, but I'm of the opinion that people do genuinely want to like the game so they probably have already tried what was suggested. My feeling is those who are growing bored already are likely suffering from overall themepark MMO burn-out. Is GW2 a beautiful game...yes. Does GW2 offer some innovations or at least improvements to the themepark experience....yes. However it's not some massive change so those who had already grown bored of the WoW's/Rifts/SWTOR's of the world are probably starting to get fatigued at GW2 as well. That's my take anyway. |

Originally posted by Wickedjelly I know it makes it kinda hard, and it's not like you can gather crafting mats to work on your armorsmith or tailor for your guy too(so many high level mats out their). And you don't make much money unless you get in a killer defense and get like 20 "defend the keep" events. All baring gold medals. So it's hard to want to buy the crafter mats. Or even other armor. I kind of float in between WvW and PvE for that armor and money re-coupe and than go back out and blow it all on siege haha. I don't think trying to go pure exploration will get you very far, same with pure crafter unless people feed you a ton of mats or you take weeks per level gathering ingredients in the level appropriate zone.
WvW is apparently doable. I wouldn't know. I don't feel comfortable enough with how the gameplay feels yet to go really try it.
The game really seems to nag you into doing all the vistas, POIs, and hearts. It's just no substitute for substansive quests. |

I am developing a hatred for this game, as well as Anet Why you ask? Because I'm having so much fun that I am completely blowing off other things which should be more important and take precedence. I'm definitely like a week behind in school because this game is freaking amazing. WHY DO COMPANIES RELEASE GAMES AT THE BEGINNING OF SEMESTERS?!?!?! I am getting a very serious addiction, and I hate GW2 and Anet for it. That being said, this is an obvious love/hate relationship, keep up the good work, i'll be sending arenanet copies of my tuition statement so they can reimburse me when their game causes my failure. twitch.tv/boonmackle |

I clicked on this thread thinking the OP would follow up the title with something like: You suck, you're wrong or you're bored of MMOs.
It's great to see a thread like this, instead of all the berating that goes around. |

I like posts like these... But the sad part is... When you look at Creslin's list of the alternative game spheres in GW... it actually makes the game look really bad! Because, let's face it, you can do nearly all of those in any full-fledged MMO out there - maybe save WvWvW (which to me is more like a mini-game on its own than part of the gameworld, but I'll grant it's a valid game sphere). Looking back, I think you can actually do a bigger variety of things in Vanguard, LOTRO, or even WOW... And all these are considered straight out themeparks with limiting rides... so I don't see how that list makes GW2 look like it is a game that particularly gives us more options than usual in the genre. So, good intentions, Creslin, but not really a convincing result. :) Controversial reminder: SWTOR. Yep, I'm going there. You can explore (it has jump puzzles, too!), craft and PVP-to-cap there, too. Granted, it doesn't have WvWvW, but it has a lousy space game that GW2 doesn't have. :) As well as a boring cap-level open PVP planet. According to mmorpg fanbase, SWTOR is one of the most limiting MMOs out there (a feeling I somewhat agree with). So, remind me: How does GW2 give me so many more options?

Originally posted by solarine Well I think you said it yourself...SWTOR gave you options, but they all sucked ;). The difference, for me, in GW2, is that those options actually feel worthwhile. The jumping puzzles in GW2 are ridiculously good sometimes, the WvW is fun, the structured PvP is deep and engaging, and the crafting is rewarding since you get exp and the discovery system is pretty fun. In SWTOR the jumping puzzles felt incredibly bland. And Illum was so bad that they basically pulled it. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

Originally posted by teakbois OMG ROFLMAO!! That was awesome. I find myself visiting the forums a lot less lately now that they have turned into a majority of trash posts bashing GW2 while the supporters have been, for the most part, playing the game. I know when the new game feel dies down it will be safe to pop in and discuss GW2 or other games but until then I choose to read only when I know time is no t on my side so that I am less likely to get sidetracked by troll posts. It was good to see you attempt somethigng helpful Creslin and sad to see a few do their part to turn it into more of the same. I see that Aerowyn has voiced her opinion as well so don't feel bad, she was the rabid GW2 cheerleaing fangirl a couple weeks back for doing the same thing.
To the clown saying it is a pointless thread, I have a good buddy who bought the game and it is only his second ever MMORPG and if it weren't for me constantly informing him on the game, he would have been lost and quit by now. Information is great when you lack it and need to know wtf is wrong on your end. I can see a few benefiting from other peoples POV. Take the information as you will, just seems pointless to fault the OP for your annoyance at reading yet another GW2 thread that was clearly labeled as such in the proper section of MMORPG.com and everything. Weird...... RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray. |

Originally posted by Creslin321 To OP. 1. Only small minority of gamers like pvp,so this is bad suggestion. 2.Many people feel crafting similar to working so that is bad suggestion aswell. 3.This point is valid for most people, only problem here is that you get distrubed all the time by anoying events happening all over the place. 4.Same as on point 1. All pvp focus is bad, that is obvious since all pvp focused games up to date has failed with no exeption. |

It's not one of those MMO games where you grindgrindgrind to get better gear and grindgrindgrind omg I want to hit 22 so I can get that special ability! Leveling is the least of my worries in this game, hell I even go back to lower level zones to attend area events and discover locations and unlock skillpoint challenges- you gain xp for nearly everything in this game and you get nice loot when you complete the entire map objectives. I pvp alot too, mostly world vs world and I can hold my own, when my mesmer was level 22 I was caught off guard by a level 46 warrior and I beat his ass but mesmer shines more in groups.

That's not entirely true, the pvp community in MMO's are fairly large these days. You know when SWTOR first launched they had 1.7mil players, ~6 months later they're down to ~500,000 and most of those players left were on pvp servers which had a higher activity than pve servers but pve servers has more activity than pvp servers now, all the pvp carebears left SWTOR- kind of tells you the kind of players that stayed and left. Hell even a Bioware dev said "half the playerbase are pvpers".
