i havent responded to a single GW2 thread since early start. but i cant help but agree here. it seems as though the game just runs you through the motions of an MMO experience, using a false sense of grouping and community, propped up on stick like an MMO scarecrow. the only real fun ive had is being on a multi user skype call doing 5v5 tourneys with all guildmates. and even then the experience seemed a bit unreal when my "Shout specced" warrior didnt even take any dmg/ easily survived, surrounded by 3 enemies on cap point. admittedly i havent played the game as much as some of you, but to us guys that bought the game preorder and have dabbled a bit since beta weekends but never fully committed... it seems like everytime i play im putting my toes in the water wondering "is this gonna be fun to jump all the way into?" the bottom line is this "its a new MMO that many people like, and many people dislike. its not the first or last time this varience in opinion will grace the MMO world" with that said ive tried every new title and beta from Planetside 2 beta to Forge Alpha, and theres still something missing for me in all those places, im yet to find an MMO as of late that can peak and hold my interest/ demand dedication. maybe some of you guys are in the same boat? if so let me know.

The Trinity was fun to many people. And not everyone was good at evey role. You'd never want me to be your healer unless you had a death wish...heh. But if you needed a Tank or DPS I'd be ready to roll.
My comment was he basically belittled the trinity based upon...what...11 days of GW2 game play?
I will tell you I kind of whish I had a dedicated tank or healer roaming around during some Group DEs. There was a reason for the trinity and, to me, it made the encounters more interesting because everyone had a role to fill instead of the DPS zerg I am seeing now. |

Originally posted by fiontar Sorry, its not that dungeons are too hard, its that no one knows group mechanics,, because.. 1) Classes are too balanced anyway.. so theres no dire need for a puller, a tank, a dps and a healer,, (theyr all one and the same) 2) The game has soo easy up until that point that you havent even considered forming a group. Whats even the point of grouping when your enginner is a tank, a Dps and a healer.. oh and by that way,, so is the mesmer.. and the warrior,, and the guardian.. G.E.Schaefer |

So every now and then, you get credit for an event that you barely did anything for. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

Originally posted by Geschaefer There's a way to play my character? No one told me. I've been doing whatever I want. No wonder I'm having so much fun... No (restrictive) trinity. Sorry m'man... GW2 is a different type of game. Seems like its not your cup of tea. |

Originally posted by Geschaefer How about to have plain old simple fun. Ever take down a champion troll with twelve other people? Engaging and well... fun. But seriously... you are trying to fit your concept of what a MMO should upon GW2 who have made it clear they wanted to do the exact opposite. Yes, there is an audience who dont like the trinity. Want more exploration. And enjoy being in a game world as opposed to working in it. ArcheAge or TSW might suit you better... understanding the former doesnt have a US release date yet (but believe it will come eventually). |
Originally posted by darkhalf357x Your exactly my pont dude.. "No restrictive trinity" You want to be every class without earling it.. Roll yourself a "eigineer-mesmer" dude.. or .. maybe a "Guardian-thief-necro" have fun with the game dude. The gold will lose its luster here soon. G.E.Schaefer |

Chat "Looking for Healer and maybe tank. We have melee and range dps, but can't do this content unless we have the other classes. Boy are we having fun setting here doing nothing." Chat "Oh you are a class X? Sorry we all ready have that one in our group."
Anyway it doesn't matter if you log in or not. There is no sub fee. You paid for the box. Thanks from all of us still enjoying the game for your support. |

It was allways going to be a casual game aimed at derps and 'new' gamers. Why anyone expected any more out of gw2 or any current release.

Originally posted by Psychow And you know what I'm seeing doing zergfest "dynamic" events? People only doing pew pew and the occasional rezzing. I was on my mesmer and we were on a champion enemy. He kept BUFFING himself and no-one, I repeat, NO-ONE aside from me was making sure his buff was removed. I wanted to yell at the rest of the people around to watch for his buff but I said to myself "ah whatever, screw this." It took longer, many died like noobs but he still went down. I did what I knew I could do. ![]() |

Originally posted by Geschaefer None of them can take a beating. The objective is not being hit. Your health is just there to buffer some mistakes or as a last resource if everything else is used. A warrior is not a tank - it is a hero specialized in physical combat and battlefield tavtics. A mesmer is not a caster dps - it is a hero specialized in making the enemies waste their resources chasing illusions. An elementalist is not a caster DPS - it his a hero specialized in elemental magic and some arcane magic. Etc. Anet and we told you there was no Holy trinity. People kept insisting the trinity is there. Well it isn't. Currently playing: GW2 |

Developers forgot what made mmos special. Until we get that back the genre wont move forward. |

Originally posted by NomadMorlock It's not old and overdone that is just the way combat is. It was not invented for video games by MMOs if you look at the old NES final fantasies you had warriors with guard abilities to take damage, and healers and mages that usually did the most damage. Oh hey lets look at how fighting really happens on earth. You send in Tanks(yes literally tanks in this case) they roll up and take damage, you have snipers and people with grenade launchers that nuke crap from range, hey you even have combat medics that don't even really fight they just patch up people that are hurt or egineers that just patch up machines that are hurt. Hey lets go back further. How about medievil times. You had knights in armor that would attack point blank and keep "aggro" off the people launching arrows from range, hey you even had those guys in robes that would go around tending people's wounds. Trinity was not created by wow or any MMO and has been part of battles for a very very long time. |
