Being a better news site than EN24 is about as difficult as being a better person than Stalin. |

Originally posted by sketocafe Issue is that if you wanted to know what was happening in 0.0 without losing brain cells by reading EN24, there wasn't much else. Themittani.com has NC. and AAA writing their version of the BR on the site with CFC side explaining some of the logics behind why they did XYZ in that BR. Its actually really cool if you are into the whole 'metagaming' / fleet doctorine. Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Read this by an actual marketing guy to find out why. |

Apart from anything else, a little thought will make it obvious that TheMittani is much more useful to goons as a credible, reliable news source than it is as a source of one-sided simplistic propoganda.

Personally I found the site quite good, some of the articles are rather useful to me. Who cares if it's named after The Mittani?

The Mittani is leader of a corp composed entirely of the sort of people who would think shitting in the sink / urinal of a public restroom is funny. No thank you. |

Originally posted by jpnz It doesn't say anything about the mob other than a few people got a hoard to follow them. Doesn't mean that mob is smart. Mob mentality is pretty bad majority of the time. An example of this is Anonymous: They are popular and have a massive amount of supporters and for what reasons? They started out ok giving groups with questionable motives a hard time. Then they started targeting western interrests and only western interrests. Why? Who is pulling the strings? Did the group get infilitrared? Not to long ago during all the so called fuss over that movie. Pictures taken by the AP showed Anonymous members (clear as day) who wrote occupy graffiti (for anyone that is in denial) on a wall next to Al Qaeda flags. The pictures were taken by the AP and on every major news outlet had at least one of the pictures up on an article. Members have been busted recently for being part of a major credit card theft rings. How about the attacks that were targeted at gamers and their personal information? Email accounts? The list goes on. Why do they still have a mob of followers and supporters when it's pretty clear that Anonymous has changed it's motives so much? NOW BEFORE YOU JUMP OFF CLIFF AND SAY THAT I AM SAYING "GOONS ARE JUST LIKE ANONYMOUS." Nowhere am I or did I state that. That's not my point. I am pointing out that just because you can get a mob of people to follow you, it doesn't really mean anything other than you got a mob a people to follow you. The only credit to be given is to the persons who got the hoard to follow them. As far as Mittens goes, best of luck to him and his site. |

He's just trying to capitalize on his Eve fame to do so. WHy shouldn't he? Think it would be pretty stupid if he didn't even try with as well known of a name as he has.

Goons have a long history of punking players and acting like ass hats. I wouldn't trust a goon run site ever for any game. Why? They'd find a way to do something bad to you then they'd all brag and pat themselves on the back about it. And it would be your fault for falling for it. |

Please allow me to clear a couple of things up. 1) We are not a corporation named "goonswarm". Goonswarm Federation is the name of our immediate alliance. Our corporation name is GOONWAFFE. The Mittani dot com was made by members of Goonwaffe, with contributors from all across EVE; that includes contributors of corporations allied AGAINST us. 2) There is absolutely NO reason to assume anyhing about the site. Afterall, we all know what it means to ass/u/me something. The proof that the site strives for unbiased news reporting is exactly a click away.
It's funny that the only people who are claiming it's only for goons, or intended as propaganda, are people who refuse to actually check it out. Oddly enough, even people who don't like us have stated that it's simply the best EVE news site available today, and not because EN24 was a sperg filled cesspool of bad posting, but because it's simply that good. And it's not JUST an EVE news site, there are articles about other games. Granted the articles on other games are because they are games that it's believed that EVE players would be interested in, such as World of Tanks and Planetside 2, but they are there non-the-least.
Not an EVE player? That's fine. I know lots of people that follow EVE, but don't actually play the game. The Mittani dot com is THE BEST place to follow what is happening in EVE for those people that enjoy following what's going on but not actually playing the game. It's not really possible to be a "biased" news site when there are contributors from corporations and alliances that do not like us. That's like saying a real world news site is biased towards one polotician when they have extensive coverage by people who support that poloticians apponent. It's a little difficult to maintane a level of bias when you continually provide counter viewpoints. Lastly, it's NOT JUST a news site for following what is happing in 0.0; even though it is THE BEST NEWS SITE to follow what is happening in the meta game. You'll also find articles and editorials for things that don't have anything to do with 0.0, such as articles on faction warfare, small roam pvp, and even the life of a solo pvper in the EVE universe. Don't let your own biased form an opinion without actually checking the site out first. Check it out first. Otherwise, yeah, kind of a bitch move to talk crap on the site when you haven't even visited it and checked out some of the many articles published there. Now think about that the next time you decide to generalize all members of the GSF as being shit people, whe you're saying such things about a site you couldn't be bothered to even look at first. BTW, Goonwaffe, The Goonswarm Federation, and Somethingawful.com have managed to raise nearly 100 THOUSAND dollars for the familly of Sean "Vile Rat" Smith. Think about that the next time you want to generalize the members of those communities as horrible individuals. Horrible individuals do not collectively provide such kindness and generocity. http://www.youcaring.com/fundraiser_details?url=benefitforseansmithsfamily&fundraiser_id=9332 As of this posting there's still 71 days left, and less then $7,000 to reach the goal of 100 thousand. Not bad for a group of individuals that Rednecksith described as: " the sort of people who would think shitting in the sink / urinal of a public restroom is funny."

PS: This insinuation is incedibly insulting to any person that has ever started, run, or contributed to such a fan site. Please stop. |

There are a lot of people who just want to be trolls or who just like being in a big zerg guild... and there are those who are genuinely brainwashed. Don't feel too bad.... there are goonsquad like guilds out there also (maybe even some worse), but usually only a select few are getting a cut... the rest are just followers. Honest (and probably about as truthful as you're going to get towards your situation). |

I no longer play Eve so for me it would be like picking up an old out of date newspapaer so I didn't even bother to look at the link. Had 6 accounts active at one point but lost the love for the game a long time ago sadly. Bandit |
Originally posted by Angier2758 It's typical of people on the outside looking in. Oddly enough you'll be extremely hard pressed to find former Goonwaffe or GSF members who have bad things to say about us, and there's a very good reason for that. The truth is, Goonwaffe and the GSF strives to bring people into EVE, have them play EVE, enjoy playing EVE, and continue to play EVE. There's a reason why we are listed by CCP as both a newbie (or newbee) friendly corp as well as one of the most helpful corporations in EVE. No tin foil, conspiracy theory required, it is quite literally what would be a mission statement of ours. The whole "we want to ruin your game", and please don't tell peopel this, a joke. One that arose from the reaction of, yes you guessed it, people on the outside looking in. We are not, and have not been for a very long time, a corporation that actively recruits from the inside of EVE. This in itself tends to contribute to a lot of the "mythos" of the goons, and generalization of our members; a lot of which we actively try to spread ourselves. Do you really think we're a corporation of 10,000 basement dwelling neckbeards, even though we refer to ourselves as such? If you don't fit our culture, you won't understand us. We aren't a culture built in game, we're a forum cultre that was developed over many years OUTSIDE of EVE. Give you an idea. Me, my brothers, and our friends are the sort to try and one up each other on the embarssment scale while in public places with each other. We'll yell out daddy, daddy to on another from the other side of the store, or try to hold each others hand, or talk about thier herpes while in check out. If you posses that kind of humor, then you'd probably get us, and get along with us quit well. You may find us saying dispariging things about EVE, like it's a crappy internet spaceship game, but the truth is we LOVE this game. We are some of it's biggest fans and supporters and stive to bring others into the game and provide an enviroment that they can love the game as much as we do.
And when you get right down to it, you don't know who I am in EVE to know how high up in the cut I really am. Most EVE players are a little hesitant to actually tell you who we are in game, and usually for good reason. |
