And even if I only spent one minute in the game and going to Divinity's Reach was the first thing I did...that city alone would have made the 60 dollar purchase worthwhile.

Most amazing city I've ever been in, in any game. Not only is the city huge, but SO much atmosphere...NPCs chatting...moving around...they aren't cardboard cutouts like in a certain newer MMO. Dogs bark in the background and there are bird sounds, children playing (and roleplaying) in the streets...laughter...soooo amazing. In fact, I wish I lived in a city like Divinity's Reach in real life.

Went to Asura city next, that was pretty cool. I liked the 3 dimensional kind of feel to it. Not my favorite city though, not really my style. But I can see a lot of work must have gone into it.

Next on the list is Charr, since that city looks awesome (judging by screenshots). Then Norn (love the Nordic theme)...probably go to the Sylvari city as the last racial city.

And best for last...Lion's Arch...since that city looks AMAZING. I love the theme of it.

But yeah...Divinity's Reach is worth the 60 dollars alone.

I just discovered it 30 minutes ago too (Norn here), and yeah ... Even the view from the outside gates feels massive ... So many details, it's unbelievable. State of the Art.

There's a reason why the Lead Artist is one of National Geographic illustrators ;)

I think a big part of what Anet did right was all the little conversations everywhere.  A lot of developers really skimp on this or skip it entirely and in doing that their games feel dead.

I agree though, all the main cities are huge in fact.  Makes them feel more like cities rather than little towns.

I love the Grove.  I recently bought my first gaming computer, and let's just say the difference in graphics from my laptop (under minimum specs) to this which easily goes to max settings is jaw dropping.  

The Grove, Lion's Arch, and Divinity's Reach are gorgeous.  No matter how many people dislike certain aspects of the game, no one can argue that ArenaNet hasn't built the best MMO cities to date.

Divinity's Reach is probably the best looking city in the game. Just amazing. I think it's the place where GW2's art style works best (maybe along with Black Citadel, the Charr capital).

I'm usually a sucker for forest-cities, but the Grove is not doing it for me. Still, it's better than most cities in other MMOs. 

Suffice to say, GW2 just has the most beautiful cities. And good variety among them, too.

I think one of the coolest things in divintys reach has to be the big giant drum/horn/ music playing thing. Its so cool as you get closer to it the music it plays gets louder and louder. Its kind of a creepy tune playing, I always have to stop look and just listen whenever i pass it in Divintys reach.

Lol. I will have to check that place out. My friend commented that he followed a group of NPC's on a pub crawl to all the taverns in Lions Arch the other day. I haven't had the time yet to find these guys.

 This tavern is on the first floor near the crafting stations IIRC. You will see a target range and the tavern is to the left if you are facing the range. NPC are a male and female.

I agree! Divinity's Reach is clearly like a city should be. Large, diverse, beautiful, with things to see and things to examine, and NPCs chatting. :)

I do agree that it is brilliantly designed but the best things i discovered were in Lion's. The jumping puzzle is so damn well done and funny and the cliff diver turret where you can jump down with swimming goggles just for a laugh! There is so much detail in GW2.

I was so sick of the quest hub to questhun MMOs and this one actually rewards exploration wich is something i have not seen in years.

Personally i was not hyped by GW2 at all. Even considered skipping it. I bought it since a RL friend plays and without a monthly sub not much money is wasted. I am positively surprised.
