MMORPGs are no longer about the mass multi-user anymore *sadly* |

Originally posted by Rasputin I'm kinda thinking the same. GW2 is one of the few real potential 'WoW-killers'. Though I think it will not kill WoW, instead I think it'll kick WoW from it's long-seated throne while WoW will keep the 2nd place for quite some time. Then again... Only time can tell. GW2 is very new and WoW will have MoP out at the end of this month. I think around x-mas we can really tell if GW indeed has taken over the #1 position as MMORPG... I don't play WoW and I don't play GW2, so I am not biased against any of them. I was merely making an observation with this post, as I have never seen anything like what I saw on XFire, which I have been following for years on different games.
I am biased against themeparks in general, but not particularly against either of the games in question. |

Guild Wars 2 gets stale pretty fast. Bet all the people who left come back for Mists of Pandera.

The game is good, but it won't kill anything. I already started to loose my patience with all the problems they have with the game atm, it ruins the experience. Also most of those renown quests or whatever they're called are boring as hell. The game is good indeed, it doesn't have a monthly fee so that is a plus to most people... but that's about it, i don't think it will have staying power, but i'll wait and see. |

Originally posted by Reizla I can't picture GW2 being #1, it just doesn't have enough substance to keep people going. One of its supposedly best features was WvWvW and it is one of the worst pvp setups currently in MMOs. |

I think the WoW killer in the end will be something like League of Legends =]

This is like 10th "WoW-killer" since 2004? What is next? ArcheAge, PS2? Meanwhile, WoW will be slowly declining due to its age. Playing: Nothing atm My game concept thread: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/369707 (any feedback appreciated) |

I think as above WoW's age will kill it in the end, MoP like any expansion will only have short term gains in population. As a WoW vet I just got bored with it in the end, lack of new thinking in the game and realising that every expansion amounts to the same thing in the end is what killed it for me.
GW2 will definitely have a negative impact on the casual and non-raiders that play WoW and it’s going to be interesting to see all the figures over the next few months from both games. GW2 is one hell of a game (quite possibly the best MMO since vanilla WoW) but it’s no WoW killer, no game regardless of what it does will be. |

Originally posted by TigerAero I never join guilds. I'm a solo player that will group randomly. Basically a gun, bow, wand, staff for hire! Seriously though you quit a game becuase of the demands of your guild? Quit the guild! |

Originally posted by Rasputin Pretty sure it's usually the publishers and developers who kill their MMOs, mainly for financial reasons, so technically it's only Blizzard will kill WoW when it isn't worth it anymore...or something along that line. |

Originally posted by Rasputin As time goes by, WOW will keep losing more and more and more players do to pure age. However, it still as 9 million players, adn no AAA mmorpg as even reached 3 million, and most likely won't. SWTOR's max was 2.4 million box sales. Don't know where GW2 will go, don't see it reaching above that either. You have to remember that WOW is not just a well known game. It's a pop culture icon. It's known extremely well beyond even the video gaming community as a whole. It's even one of the industries most defining games. That's how big it is. That's not a title you just get by selling a couple of millions boxes. Much less using xfire. |

Originally posted by Rasputin WoW hasn't "obliterated" any game. Each and every new MMO failed on it's own merits. Which is why people keep saying that WoW will eventually fail on it's own merits. As far as Xfire is concerned, you might as well label this thread "SWTOR kills EvE", since the Xfire stats also support that conclusion. |

Shouldn't there be a spike in users getting in to get used to the new changes? |
