Originally posted by Psychow Their forums run through the same authentication servers as the rest of their stuff. Everything in GW2 is account based, not server based. They are keeping the forums offline until they resolve the capacity issues as having them open would be generating extra load they can do without right now, assuming we could even log on to them if they were up anyway. Remember how Blizzards forums go down during maintainance? Well, same thing except ArenaNet can pick and choose which things they have online/offline. |

The only thing that I've had trouble with is the TRADING POST and the MAIL SYSTEM. Although I did get a little lag, that might have been my fault. Honestly though I've played free MMORPGs that's been out for YEARS with bugs worse than this. And like many people already said, wasn't WoWs launch a bit shaky as well? Just give it time. It's only been out 2-3 days.
And you know the main reason why most of these problems are occuring? THERE'S TOO MANY DAMN PEOPLE ONLINE AT THE SAME TIME. Lag because servers can't handle it, TP closed because servers can't handle it, map queing because too many people. And before you say this was what the stress test was for... They never had 400k players all online in the stress test all at once. |

I would describe the launch as "rough", at least compared to recent launches like TOR, RIFT, Aion, ... The interface issues are really giving me grief as a guild officer. We need more people on our team, and there seem to be many who want to join us, but I usually can't get them to join without trouble. Even existing members have been kicked randomly or are sometimes unable to talk / view the roster. All of that makes organising events a pain in the ass as well. Trading post issues explain themselves, I sure expect there to be a massive downward price spiral when everyone can finally put all their useless crap or genuine goods on there. Yesterday we also had our first organized guild event in WvW, but this was disrupted by massive lagspikes which basically meant seeing your char frozen in place for 10-20s every minute or so. People really got tired of that fast. Finally you have mail bugs and group invites or attempts to "join in" with others that fail.
Despite all of that, I'm still really enjoying the game, as luckily the issues don't stress the regular PvE too much. |

The game plays fine with my pc, I wouldnt say itll come close to a disaster. So far I have enjoyed playing the game even without the trading post and the mail system takn down once in a while because people were abusing it. ONly concern I ahve is with their overflow joining friends and dungeon issues. Not being able to enjoy the game with people you know sucks and makes the fun factor go down. |

We can't trade eachother, we can't chat in guild with eachother and we can't group together. I'd say it's one of the worst launches of late. The gameplay is so fun though, that so far only two of our guildies have stopped playing.

It's far from a disaster, but it has been a little shaky. The whole trade post and mail system being down sucks, they turned off mail til they fix an exploit though so I'm not really that upset about it. Over all this game is fantastic, and has impressed me greatly, the gameplay is addictive, the experience even with the occasional hiccup is still leagues beyond many mmo's so far.

While most of the issues are indeed not gamebreaking, they are more than just a little annoying if you add it all. Quite a rough launch but no disaster. If they won't manage to fix the guild, chat and trade systems soon it would be quite embarrassing though. |

There are some issues here and there but mostly the game runs flawlessly. Unlike most mmo launches. I'm sure all the minor problems will be forgotten in 1 week.

Quoting for truth. But would like to add that many consider not being able to play together with their friends gamebraking as gamebraking can get. And if playing teamd up with your friend is a peak of your enjoyment than the lack of it equals sitting in a que not being able to play.
edit: solo nerds don't care obviously |

Originally posted by StarI This. Not being able to play with your friends is indeed gamebreaking. At least for someone who has friends who play games. This is the sole reason we've already lost guildies. They felt it was too much a solo experience. |

Originally posted by Zezda Just no. Guild features are bugged as hell.
Our guild master can't see anything in his guild window. He cant invite, he cant kick, he cant do anything. Guild chat has lags of 1-2 minutes, and sometimes its completely down. Every 2nd login, people cant see anyone in the guild and the guild window says they are alone in game, but they arent. Playing: TSW, SWTOR, FM2013 |

Originally posted by gwei1984 Anytime I log in and the guild chat isn't working or it doesn't show the location people are at or anything I just relog and it works fine. Chat itself is fine after that, my guess is when you log in the guild information is collated from the servers and if that process does not go through correctly, due to the capacity issues they are having, then this is why people are having so many issues. The issue with the guild masters is probably a bit more complicated but for anyone else in the guild a simple relog will fix any issues with the guild chat/system. |

It will not, guild chat was bugged the entirety of yesterday evening, relogging didn't do anything. The roster not displaying people is an extremely common issue, relogging does not always help, the issue does seem to fix itself in time, but until it does people are often not represented and can not see guild chat while they are in fact in the guild and chose to represent. I've also spent a lot of time re-inviting and trying to fix problems guildmates had these last few days. It is not an issue that a simple relog can fix.
Even if it could be fixed like that, it's difficult to inform other players of what's going on in the guild if you aren't sure whether or not they'll hear you. Guild chat has been completely devoid of life for the past few days due to the issues. |

Originally posted by Svarcanum Oh come on, thats a bit dramatic. The game is not even a week old, and you are telling me people quit because they can't join a guild? I find that very hard to believe. I finally just got into my guild today, but have been in our voice chat from day 1. Sorry, bugs are expected at launch, every MMO player knows it. This launch has been smooth for me. Never lagged once, never booted. So what if I had to wait for guild invtte and the trading has been down. There is so much more to do than that. |

Post like this is exactly why forums shouldn't exist.. Too much nerd rage over server down time.. I remember when forums used to be the focal point of spoiler info and help.. but in the last 10 years, that has changed.. They are now the location to gripe over the most minor of issues such as server down time lasted 90 minutes when it was only suppose to be 60 minutes.. You get the idea.. I can understand people bringing up game breaking issues, or asking for "how to" info.. To date I have not experienced any issues worth noting.. The game isn't even a week old and people are complaining about the cash shop.. Really? Do you need access to that this quick?? Really?? Server down times are common in ever game I have ever played.. I'm actually quite pleased how fast they make updates and patch them..

Originally posted by Atlan99 1. No forum is a valid problem. I'm almost 100% sure that it was just taken down until things calm down after launch. Most of the time forum in early stage of every MMO turn to home for every whiner and complainer. One big toilet for never happy people. 2. Trading post down - that's valid problem. 3. I'm sure it's because game was big hit. 1 milion pre-orders. That's even more than The Old Republic with EA, Bioware and Star Wars behind it. It's probably overcrowded with people. Because of that also loggin server sometimes is to busy and you must try few times if you want to get in. 4. No lag at all and I play since sutarday every night. Only laggy part is overflow server when we have people from ALL servers or most of them. When we talked yesterday after event some people were angry because "we use english on french server". Some said "it's german server" etc. Seems that on overflow server people gather from many servers. It's not overflow server for every normaln server it seems. 5. I never heard about hacked accounts. Only ones are probably with passwords like "qwerty", "1234567", "god" and other common passwords. Idiots like that deserve to be hacked. One time Microsfot report that almost 1/3 milion accounts of hotmail was "hacked" this way. They just used common passwords and they tried it on accounts. This is dictionary method. There was reports that some people receive strange emails (almost sure it was scam). Well it's normal for popular game like GW2. Ignore scam, never use links in emails like that. 6. No idea about that tabs. Never had problems with them (WvWvW) but I'm not in the guild so I don't know about second one. I think it's quite great launch. Better than last one (TOR) when I could not loggin in for more than week because of always full servers and more than 1000 people in queue that moved like turtle. |

Freedom of Speech is a wonderful thing. Even when nerd rage takes it over, the problem with Forums is that people actually believe they hold some form of credability or just dont care (me). When they are told they are wrong the will fight it. now there is nothing wrong with defending your idea's, until it stops being about what you believe and starts being a pissing match between fanboys.
Because i can. |
