This is in no way a big deal, or even remotely exciting, so stop making it out to be.

Sometimes its just changing a number in a code string other times its creating a few variables. However none of them should take over a few hours of coding. |

Very True, Still there is a big difference in 3 months of pushing hard 18 hours a day, and 2 days .... my preference is the long journey, EQ Devs were right for people who played 5 or so hours a day, they werent expecting 18 hour a day pushes, but that says alot about EQ and how games should be, as far as leveling, only the die hard pushers can reach in 3 months and the rest take between that and a year. Id much prefer it.
less than 48 hours to level cap...its a freaking joke. 2 weeks to level cap is a joke. 7 days played time is a joke, its not hard, its quite simple. it has no rewarding feeling whatsoever. The journey is what is important and if the journey is over so fast, what does that say? |

Grats to him and the guild, but this sounds horrible to me. Guild Wars 2 kind of seems like one of those game you should want to play though without speed leveling to the cap... I guess I was wrong.

Whats the big deal? So they figured out the fastest way to hit lvl 80 and it wasnt even by experiancing the adventure content in the game. They had a guild grinding mat's so he could get to 80 through crafting. Now maybe they can relax and enjoy the actual game. |

How did people gather the high level mats? Doesn't crafting stop giving XP on low level stuff once you reach a certain skill?
If not that seems like a bad design.. |

Originally posted by Ozmodan Well there's a logical post. Ridiculous. The purpose of any game is to experience the content. If someone buys a game and gets to the end by experiencing a fraction of the content, why even buy the game? Why buy a book to read the last chapter only to complain that there weren't enough pages in between?" Why would you not play something because someone did just that when for the majority of the hundreds of thousands or millions that will play they will level up in weeks to months, not in 2 days? For those of us with lives outside of gaming (and Im a casual player that likes to explore, look at vistas, chat with friends, etc), it may take us 4-6 months or longer to get to 80. |

Why even make a mention of it. They've wasted what imo is a very fun experience so far. Why feed their ego by running to post about the first level 80's here and there. Ive seen multiple level 80 posts and its just old news and not worth anyones time to even bring it up.
Also who cares? They get to sit there and be level 80 all by themselves waiting for others to catch up. People going ooooh ahhh are just stroking their already huge ego because lets be honest, hitting max level first is only for those kids that are way too cool for school.
And he had all his guildies running around farming mats for him. I mean how boring can you get. Im gonna get back to enjoying the game. My highest level "Charr" is level 7 and im loving every minute of actually seeing the game. |

It's not like he wasted the content of the game. Now he can go have fun in any PvE area he wants, and forget the levels. |

I think what everyone is failing to actually realize, is that the fact that someone got lvl 80 already has absolutely NO affect on your gameplay. SO WHO GIVES A FLYING F...... just play the game and have fun at your own pace

It's sad to see someone rush to lvl 80 in such a well made game! He'll Ive been taking my time enjoying the hell outta this awesome game and I am close to 20 with crafting upto 40 , events , wvwvw pvp all a blast! To bad that some of us forgot what it means to have a journey adventure! This is my new main mmorpg I love it too much to stop, but by no means will I rush, defeats the purpose to fully enjoy a master piece like this guys.

I think it is the current themepark trend to make the levelling faster. Major AAA themeparks released since WoW were mostly like this. In Lineage II: Chronicle 1, he would be level 10 by now. (terrible grind it was :) )
Playing: Nothing atm My game concept thread: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/369707 (any feedback appreciated) |
