My opinion.

To me, it's like a combination of DAoC's RvR, WAR and the original AV in WoW.  I like the slower pace, supply system and stronghold upgrade system.  I like that there are NPC allies that can be turned to your cause.  It does not have the feel of a static battleground from other games.  I like that defending objectives is rewarded.

Granted, right now, everything is about the zerg.  There is little organized activity.  That's expected.  The game is brand new and players don't know what the Hell to do or how to do it.  And there is no real authority to get players to react more strategically.

That will change, however.  When organized guilds dedicated to WvW gain more experience in the game and begin to take objectives and assert themselves on the battlefied, people will follow their lead.  Guilds will form aliances and leaders will be recognized in chat and the "rabble" will more readily follow the direction of experienced leadership.  In a few weeks, I think WvW will feel much different than the disorganized blitz of bodies that charge all over the map currently.

I'm hopeful ANet doesn't make any immediate changes to the system as it is.  Granted, tweaks to various features of the system will likely be required, but I hope nothing dramatic changes.  I expect this approach will "weed out" some players who want a smaller, tighter approach to RvR, but I think those remaining will be committed to the model ANet created.

I realize there is some criticism and complaint about WvW.  But, I defend and support what they've put together.

I too think the WvWvW is great right now. I hope they don't succomb to the masses and change things. When a game is new it should be a raw expierence, if people don't like it 6 months from now then change it. As it is right now it's playable and very fun whether you're zerging or running in your own small group.

Reminds me much more of early SI DAoC than WAR. Hopefully all the babies go do their instanced PvP so they don't have to cry about being outnumbered in open world PvP.

I agree, I like WvW.

One thing I hope is that the zerg mentality is changed by the player itself instead of the dev's to add new mechanics that discourage the zerg.

I believe it will change as more players learn how the maps and the system works.  I also believe guilds dedicated to WvW will be recognized as leaders on the battlefield and habits will change and a more strategic approach to WvW will appear.  It's just a matter of time.

I agree as well.  It's awesome.

Like said above, when people get used to it and they can afford the seige equipment, the zerg can be dealt with.  During one of the betas, a group of 5 of us beat down a group of 12-15.  The larger group thought they had a on 3.  They didn't see the two well placed arrow carts on a ledge above them.  They went to zerg the 3 and all 5 of us survived.  It was my best experience in WvW yet.  I was totally pumped.  When dealing with a zerg, it is best to lure them to a choke point and ambush them.

This is my only issue too.  I guess it's a good problem to have.  I think the WvW is awesome in GW2.

I have only played twice but I didn't find them too long. That said I wish there were a bit closer waypoints to the action. :D

That's something else that will change over time. You can upgrade a Keep with a Waypoint.

Right now not a lot of people either know that or have the coin to do it but in time that will be a very important part of strategic WvW play.
