After playing wow for so long and quitting out of bordom, GW2 is a bit...meh. It's just more of the same stuff we've have been seeing for the last 7 years. I'm going with planetside 2 instead for a F2P mmo. At least they have made something different from the 100s of wow clones. |

I just can't get into anything except fantasy ( sword and sorcery) types. I think swtor makes for a good example. If you want to do something different, how about an age of empires mmo.
GW2 servers are cooked right now btw Made it into the JQ last night though yippy!!! |

Read this as Final Thoughts Before Lunch. The tried and tested games are great and this series looks like a keeper. The world vs world is a great idea it reminds me of Kurzicks vs Luxons where you compete for zones on the map with benefits for whatever faction holds the spot. PVP was great in guild wars and now it is even better for both PVP and PVE. Another class A game for arenanet even though it is just Guild Wars

I've been watching streams all day long about this game, I honestly can't see the big deal with it. At least for PvE it seems very cookie cutter stuff. Perhaps it'll look better when i see endgame PvP, but at the moment I'm glad I didn't buy it. |

Originally posted by Rawiz Yeah I completly agree with you, Guild Wars 2 is nothing new, the only thing differn't about it is it's combat system, all I ever hear from people is how much it's so differn't from other MMO's.. I think those people have not played very many MMO's or are new to the Genre because everything else has already been done in past mmo's it's just done in a differn't way and in a more refined way in Guild Wars 2. GW2 is a good game but it isn't what everyone is protraying it out to be. I'de still rather play TSW over GW2, but I guess it's just prefrence. |

[mod edit] "How many launch days for other games were low level quests impossible because quest mobs would be wiped out by masses of new players? More than I can count!" You must have one finger to count with because there was only one game that did this. Lineage 2 at F2P launch. OTher games that have gridnable mobs are already notorius and shut down like 2moons... But that is comparing apples and ORanges. The author posted you dont worry of people stealing your exp and items??? What? That is a problem in what other games? And if it iexists in games; like the chance to drop an armor pice in PWI, that is called CHALLENGE! that is not wow. That is hard core. That creates compition on a whole new level! SOme people like it, others dont; but the epicness of deuling the guy that called you noob, and then have a 5% chance his chest piece drops is rewarding. But sure, some people cry, so we got other games like aION where you can openly pvp epicly and keep your armor. So WHAT IS NEW here? Oh yeah...NOTHING!
[mod edit]
The launch attracts millions. Most launches do. That will dwindle, later, but I Wish you all good luck for those who did not taste beta. GW has been and always will be the failmans MMORPG alternative. Something EASY to feel good. ORiginal GW gave those people who couldnt handle EQ something to do until Wow came out. WoW came out and GW kept a fan base. Because GW was still EASIER to play than WoW. PErsonally I Am happy GW2 gonna filter out all those: "power level me please" - "I cant find it" - "I just made a group of level 40 for a 60 instance" annoying players out of my current mmorpg and put tham all in that GW2 title! YES! I cant wait! a home for all those fail players!

sofakingdumb, no, your entire comment is a big fail because of one simple thing. GW and GW2 have their fanbase and keep their fanbase because they're the only MMOs out there with true sPvP that is based on player skill and not equipment. Too bad you're criticizing a game you know nothing about. If you want a HARD MMO you play GW PvP, if you want something easy you play all the other games you mentioned. Bottom line is that you're a pve scrub that thinks he's good because he can beat mobs in PvE. Yeah, you're great. wow, just wow... Oh and 1 more thing. Elite dungeons in GW1 were much harder than anything i've encountered in other MMOs. But ofcourse you know nothing about that, you're just an ordinary GW franchise hater that pukes nonsense without a basic experience in the game... |

Originally posted by GrumpyCharr I know...it's weird...one of the things that i hated about SWTOR...they did right in gw2. I wasn't gonna buy this game right off the bat, but I'm glad I did. It's fun for me, in small doses.
Originally posted by Isane Not a solo player game, I've had more fun playing with other folks on the fly in this game than I have in many games, since SWG. You can run into a world event and just join in. They did it better than rift tbh. I ran across many of the same players over and over again last night. |

Got the game for m bithday, haven't played GW before at least since its beta..... Not a fan boy, but after a couple days of playing.... I'm really impressd on this release! it plays smooth it seems a bit different and it's beautiful. I've gotten to level 11 since yesterday but I've not had this much fun playing in years. And I hope I've only scratched the surface.

Originally posted by MMOwanderer I think your opinion is perfectly valid, but the value that you placed on a once off $60 is somewhat weird. Considering that this game has no monthly subscription fee, $60 is really just like buying a game on steam, and is probably a lot more bang for the bug even if you think the game is pretty average and just trying it out. Hell, it is even cheaper than Diablo 3 in some countries. I think $60 a month is worth it just for the shear amount of arts and world scale that ANet put into the game, even if you don't like the game itself. Very impressive value for money imo compare to many other mmos (even compare to a lot of free-to-play ones, as they are never really free anyways and they are not at this scale of detail that I've seen so far). |

Im getting to be an old and jaded MMO'er, I cant belive im sucked into another mmo, another huge hype, I dunno I just cant help myself. Also just to get moaning right at the start I bought a pre purchase from Amazon.co.uk which they sent to me without a 3 day headstart code, so Thanks for ripping me for an extra £10 for no headstart and I guess no in game item. Ill put it down to experience along side my £130 CE of SW-TOR, you know the old/new MMo thats just announced its going F2P.
I promise to cheer up if this game delivers /p |

Unlike a lot of the other people, I won't be playing GW2, at least not at the moment. Yet I want this game to succeed, even if I never play it.
Developers need to be rewarded for taking risks. Whatever one thought of TOR, bold and innovative would not come to mind. While TERA and TSW have some bold and innovative aspects to them, the consensus seems to be, they just aren't good games, or at least aren't good in their current state. GW2 is bold and innovative, and they might actually have the resources that the other games lacked. If it flops, don't look for any big-time MMOs for awhile. Make of that what you will. |

The game certainly does have the production quality at least. The starter area is also ok. But countless of static events just doesnt hold up in the end. The combat powers are also static and seems very limitted since the basic powers cannot be changed. Found that system a bit odd and not inspiring at all. TSW has something much better. But in general the quality is good throughout the game and based on that there really is no qualified competition out there, this game will succeed. |
