Originally posted by Wickedjelly You right there were people saying the starter area was easy ;) I don't recall many games with people quiting because it was too hard though. EvE, some other full loot sandboxes maybe.
ok back on topic! lol DamonVile- Games built for disposable players are now apparently built by disposable employees. |

Do people really care if it's easy? It seems to me the most important question is if iplaying is fun and engaging. Sure, people will throw up their hands and quit if it's too hard but they seem to forgive "too easy" much more readily as they progress. I am coming to think that most people playing games just want to feel good about what they are doing rather than prove their L337 skillz.

Originally posted by insaner666 You do realize nothing you said has to do with whether the game is easy or not? Do you? Sure hope so...not sure how your reasons equate to people "voting with their hearts". How are skills a joke anyways? For the record, I haven't played enough to make a determination one way or another. Frankly though, can't say I have ever found an mmo particularly hard except for EvE. Which may not even be true in that the case but I could not get into it so didn't really play it much. 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

Read the post, smart arse, he said that from watching the videos, it looked too easy to play. It's fair comment - as he says, he's never actually played the game. Sheesh, you guys..... |

I don't consider inidividuals who haven't actually played to have a credible opinion. Try playing first, then judge. |

I have not played it (I chose to skip betas) but it looks challenging enough.

To be honest, how often do people post videos of them failing over and over? So naturally it will show videos of people succeeding and making it seem easy.

Originally posted by gracefield Which is exactly the point.... OP admits to never having played and forms a judgment on difficulty based on nothing more than watching videos of low level areas? That is absolutely absurd. It isn't a fair comment at all, and the entire point of this thread is to get a rise out of fans. |

I have been playing MMO's for a very long time. In no other MMO have I died as often as I have in GW2. Yes the starter zones are easy, but once you get into the game there are mobs that will one shot you if you do not defend the big hit or dodge it. Conditions become a big deal, not removing them wil be very very bad for your health. Standing in the red ring will be a big freaking deal if your heal is not up. In large world events you can pick out the new GW2 players, they are the ones on the ground begging for a res because they forgot to dodge. GW2 is also one of the most fun MMO's I have played in a while. I am still blown away by the sheer size and scope of the game, doubly so because there is no monthly fee. Any future MMO that wants to have a monthly fee beter bring something pretty impressive to the table, because GW2 is going to set one hell of a goal. |
