Sorry that this might seem like another "SWTOR suxs" thread but the more I think about how promising the game appeared to be this time last year and with BW name behind and all that money sunk into it, I cant help but shake my head in pity that this will be just be another tally on the board of "would-be wow killers that imploded". So much potential wasted and idiotic choices made by clueless management. When a game loses %75 or more of its players and goes F2P in 8 months after spending $200 million or more, it is a major failure. I dont think F2P will help this game, it might give a brief respite but think it will continue to bleed money and EA will eventually pull the plug to save face and write it off for tax reasons. I dont think BW will even be the same after this and will be merged with the other EA studios after this fiasco. SoE's SWG may have been a flop too but compared to SWTOR, SWG at least lasted 8 years as P2P model. And had alot of SW elements and freedom to it. SWTOR is a bare-bones Wow clone that is (still) lacking many features that even free mmos have.
1. No good SW races, all humanoids with different colours or features like spikes. 2. Lousy, shoddy engine and even high end pcs chug from FPS issues 3. Bad CS and oppressed forums mods 4. stale, lifeless worlds, npcs frozen in the background, no day/night cycle, no wildlife 5. Load screens galore 6. PVP is a huge fail (illum cough) 7. Having to wear out your spacebar cause there has to be a 10 min cutscene for every quest 8. Crafting is near useless 9. Bad AH interface. 10. Legacy system is nothing more than a credit sink for pointless items/features
In the end, this game is nothing more than 95% of the effort spent on cutscenes and voice work, and the other 5% on everything else, and it shows.
I hope one day, SWG or a SWG2 will come back and do a SW MMO justice. |

But what we’re targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet."

I'm with Gary Gannon (Gamebreaker) that to get the game back in the headlines, EA Bioware should just blow Ilum up and permamently remove it from the galactic map.
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |

I just checked the colony log. Dated 12-20-2011 signed Bioware. You sent them out there and you didn't even warn them. Why didn't you warn them, Bioware?

SWTOR is a fine use of the Star Wars property.
Great Crafting
Great Graphics
Excellent Story Lines
A Vatiety of Races
A great atmosphere for guilds
Good instances and Operations with great stories.
Great GTN which can be played for cash.
A great Legacy System
Engaging search of Datacroms (what's better than self improvement?)
While world pvp on pve planets isn't great it is good on PvP servers.
I could go on and on. SWTOR is a fantastic game. |

Originally posted by grapevine ive defended swtor in my days here but to set there and say what the guy said is just nonsense . Also free to play is NOT a good thing like you say it is for swtor. IF that was even remotely in their future at release they would of prepped for it . The sub game is what the goal was and they planned from the start to compete with wow so to say free to play is helping swtor is dellusional at best. The only thing free to play shows is they are backed into a corner and trying to salvage any little bit of money they can on that sinking ship , its far from any glory to help build subs . All its doing is trying to salvage the last chance it has at making any money at all. Also to say swtor has more subs then most other games next to wow is not true either , they have never ever come clean with sub numbers in the last 3 or 4 months. If they were doing so well they would not be going free to play and laying off employees. |

Originally posted by grapevine No, F2P is not a bad thing but releasing as P2P and goung F2P within a year is. As I see it they had the idea that you could make a MMO just like a singleplayer game but you cant. And they could have fixed that and made the later game more of a MMO but instead they decided to release the game as F2P ASAP which is a huge misstake. First you fix the game up then you change model, otherwise they wont make any more money on it. |

Funny that I and the vocal minorty said the exact same things a year before release over and over and over till we got banned.

Originally posted by Loke666 this.. fixing the issues that are the cause of players leaving the game would have been a lot smarter than juggling the finance model, and contrary to the current EA thinking i do not agree that the reason players are leaving is because of a lack of willingness to pay subs. F2P will just be a hurdle put in front of the real issues, and without those being addressed, the F2P model will fail. |

Originally posted by karmath yeah i was a fan at first but it took less then a week in live to /uninstall and only went back for two weeks during the second patch with the ui changes and quickly left again. The game to me feels sleezier then Rift was at launch. At least Rift tried to make their soul system unique. SWTOR ripped off wow's characters skills and trees so hardcore im seriously surprised blizzard didnt sue them. |

Originally posted by Loke666 Going F2P was a calculated move, IMO, because for future earnings calls EA doesn't need to bother explaining how or why subscriptions went below the magic 500k to-be-profittable number.
Even though there may only be 1 active server, EA's new spin will be about how SWTOR has millions of registered accounts. Then the subject will quickly get changed to talk about a different game.
It's sleazy, but unfortunately it allows for a nice cover-up to prevent spending more money to fix everything wrong with SWTOR. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |

Unfortunately, it seems like fixing some of their major troubles would require quite an overhaul in game design. - Al Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. |

Bioware raped the Starwars IP completely :( Would never have guesed they would have done such a bad job, but i was warned before hand..... It should have been so much more.......so much more.... http://speedtest.net/result/2112016336.png |
