After all the good points made previously in this thread, I think I'd probably revise my estimates to:

1st Month:  4 Million

1st Year:    10 Million

However, I don't think I'll edit the original post because hope springs eternal.  C'mon GW2!  I need you to break some serious records here!

And China market hasnt opened up yet (and it will soon since the contract is made), and most importantly...the area where GW1 sold the most copies, South Korea hasn't started sales yet either (they are finishing the Korean version of the game right now). If the game hits 4 million in the US by the end of the year, I would estimae it sells around 20 mill. copies over its lifetime.

the coming months will be extremely hard to predict though. It all depends on how much ncsoft is willing to put into marketting and how progressive is the type of added content a-net is able to put out in the next couple of months.
