Bought all three, didn't expect much from TSW or Tera. SWTOR on the other hand, that one hurt. I was so disappointed in that one. I don't know why gaming companies insist on making crappy Star Wars games.
The List:SWG, WoW, Vanguard, POTBS, EQ2, Fallen Earth, DFO, DAOC, AOC, LOTRO, APB, TSW and Rift Currently:GW2 |

TOR and TSW for me. However, I went into each after beta-testing knowing niether one was likely to last me more than a month or two. I got 4 weeks from TOR and 3 weeks from TSW. I go into GW2 having logged 150+ hours of playtesting time. Already much more time than I got from either of the other two titles, or any other MMO in recent years. I love GW2 so much that I'm looking forward to treading the same ground again as much as I'm looking forward to the areas of the game I've never seen before. I will be very surprised if I don't get at least 1,000 hours of /played time from the at launch content. I haven't gone into an MMO with such expectations since Vanilla WoW. Originally posted by redfrick Eh, I don't see how TOR was so surprising when they started talking about how it was going to have this that and the other thing from WoW everywhere. The mechanics really stick out as bizarre in a Star Wars setting. The beta cinched it for me since it was clear they made a lot of mistakes in design. Tons of running around to get from point A to B, enemies standing still, etc. I know the story was supposed to sell it, but I have a hard time when that story is almost entirely isolated from everyone else you play with. Schizophrenic storytelling is not a great pillar to set your game upon. A lot of WoW clones try to tack on one or two gimmicks and call it a day...but that often doesn't work all that well. Though it hurts extra when the fumble the ball right out the door with a horrible release. If they don't make sure the whole package fits together and make sense...well, it's no surprise that they lose most of their subs quite rapidly. |

I bought SWTOR and played less then 2 months. I bought TSW and it lasted a month. Both games were bought with the intention they would be stand-in games untill GW2 released. Sadly neither lasted as long as I hoped it would. SWTOR was fun while leveling but I knew the endgame would suck. TSW I was hoping the horizontal progression would last much longer then it did. In fact It still might but Funcom needs to go away from the WoW model vertical scaling raid mentality and more into the old school enjoyment and wander of adventure. Hopefully in 6 months they will have implemented enough content. Which is right around the time I predict the newness of GW2 will last.

I haven't bought any of those 3, but I did beta test SW and Tera. I have a certain fondness for asian games, so I absolutely had to give Tera a try. As for SW:ToR, I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but I am a huge Bioware fan; so I had to give that a try as well. My time testing SW was fun enough. It definitely had that distinct Bioware feel. I didn't know anyone else who was playing it though, nor did I want to have an extended stay in the world as I normally would with an MMO. I think I could have enjoyed playing through some of the class stories as a mostly solo experience, but I couldn't justify buying the game and paying a sub fee for just that, especially since I had my eye on GW2 in the near future (I expected it to be released around April at the time). Regardless, I was still quite enamored with Skyrim at the time, so I passed. As for Tera, I've never had a worse time in a beta. I simply disagree with so much of its fundamental design philosophy. (I didn't know much about it aside from its heralded combat--which actually was quite decent--before trying it for myself.) Not purchasing that game was an easy decision for me to make. I go into GW2's release having followed the development blogs for over 3 years. Almost every design philosophy Anet has built GW2 with are exactly the philosophies I would use to build my own game if I were to do so. I've watched probably over 100 hours of video of GW2 and have gone on to play it for at least that much time over the course of 3 beta events and numerous stress tests. I already feel intimately acquainted with the world, and I've already been as immersed as I've ever been in any MMO in GW2. I think it goes without saying that I have greater personal expectations for GW2 than I did for any of the other games on this list :p I essentially expect to get out of GW what I got out of WoW, which was a very solid on-again, off-again relationship for 6+ years. |

Someone bought SWTOR for me, and I only tried the other 2 and didn't like the way they felt. So "None"...
no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

I bought only TSW. Tried all of them though and don't think any were "bad" games, just not worth a sub. Paid for TSW despite this because I felt the devs deserved it for going a little outside the mmo comfort zone.

All 3 but I wasn't under any assumption they would be the next big thing for me all 3 I bought shortly after their release as impulse buys seeing everyone talk about them, not able to contain my curiosity I suppose. GW2 on the other hand I prepurchased the day you could without a release date with no uncertainty about the game's quality. |

I bought SWTOR, TSW, and GW2. Can't say I'm disappointed with any of those games. I got what I expected out of SWTOR and TSW. Appears it will be the same for GW2.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

I bought swtor and tera. I bought swtor because that is what my friends all, and I mean AAAAALLLLL!!!! wanted to play. IDK why I bought Tera .. guess I wanted to see what the fuss of "leet skillz" targetting was all about ... /yawn LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. |

Bought SWTOR and it turned out like I thought it would, a nice little time killer nothing special or great. Was given TERA and it was as bad as I thought it would be lol. Avoided TSW the beta's and such were just to off putting.
GW2 I purchased the day it was available.
But I picked last option in the poll just to see the results :P |

None of them. I haven't played a MMO since the free month for Rift ended. Hopefully my burnout with the genre is healed. Plus even though the basics (fantasy RPG setting, etc) are similar I think the open/cooperative gameplay I got to see in BWE3 suits me better than the older ones I played (1999-2011) - raiding, camping rares (flat out camping everything in the beginning with EQ1).
