I'd say the first person to 80 is likely the person who "gets" the game the least.

Originally posted by Svarcanum this is valid, but i wont be rushing. (i have returned to low zones in BWE 2+3, and even though it was only a difference of 5 levels, i felt like i was steamrolling mobs.) i hope that by taking my time, and doing zones "at level" it will be more challenging. i prefer multiple deaths over feeling like i can steamroll content. |

First 80 will be inside of 48 hours of headstart. No problem. And the person who pulls is off needs to be ridiculed mercilessly. The Law of Conservation of Stupidity: |

My bet is around 36 hours But i expect to be surprised and see people level 80 even faster, some people learned during BWEs hell i would not be surprised to see people leveling to 80 during a stress test.
Is not who level to 80 in 3 minutes that irk me, is who do it and then start posting: "OMFG GW2 sucks nothing to do after 40 minutes of play, leveled to 80 won 7 WvWvW and did all the dungeons , now after 24 hours of play nothing to do, launched with no content " http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5120/7210363296_8357bee9de.jpg |

Originally posted by elvenwolf Well if you think about it by the entertainement value, that isn't bad! That comes out to about $1.60 an hour. Seven years of Anet team worked completed in the blink of an eye! At least unlike WoW, they can come back and start the game and play it the way it was designed and it will still be a challenge. :) Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not. |

Remember level gain in GW2 is linear so each level is meant to take the same amount of time to achieve after level (15?).
Thus if they just grind out the levels, ignoring content, or just getting it in wvwvw, it should be quick Explorer 73% Achiever 53% Socializer 53% Killer 20% |

Geez I really hope these types of players stay away from this game.

I guess about a week. This is considering that some people have been dedicated enough to take time off for it. Those people will pour over 12 hours a day into the game and can get a fair amount done. The problem will be the lack of other players in the high level zones to do harder content. I think they will need to wait for us before they can get Orr finished.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

The point is that if you "rush" through the game you are a WoW playing, power leveling Communist. Upon desecrating Guild Wars 2(re- getting to level 80 in under 1 week) you will immediately come to the forums to spout hatred filled power leveling rhetoric and subsequently quit the game. Your level 80 character(re- the Anti Christ) will be stoned to death in game.
The first week everyone will be super excited that Guild Wars 2 is finally out and they are able to play and so will be playing a lot. The leveling will just happen.

Originally posted by Tayah Sorry but no, since I'm a European, so I'll be on some European server with my own guild (see sig). Since GW2's combat is more action oriented, I think ping may matter quite a bit in PvP. |

Originally posted by Xiaoki I think you totally missed the point. Nobody mind who reach level 80 in 5 minutes , your money your game, do whatever, from playing naked covered in mountain dew to whatever. Who is irksome is who reach level 80 in 5 minutes and then start to spam the forums about how the game suck because they reached level 80 in 5 minutes.

You know, I did not even think about this during the BWEs. Do you level slower if you over level the zone? Or do all mobs basically give you a set amount of XP which scales with the amount of xp needed for the level? Either way, I will be leveling slowly. MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit. |
