EA reports, in February 1.7+ million subs at 12/31/2011; VGCharts reports:

At December 31st, all sold games are 100% subbed (except a small handful with activiation issues) in the trial period.

EA reports, in February 2012, 2.0+ million sales through January 31st, VGCharts reports:

Companies that don't report remain a complete blackhole.      NCSoft doesn't report to VGSales, though until the end of 2008 they did in their financial statements.   And they still do in press releases. 

With TSW...   EA MIGHT report their co-publishing sales, but Funcom doesn't and probably won't.   And since it's not particularly a retail-chain point-of-sale game...    It's going to be tough to know what happened.

Funcom is really secretive about their details.      You can see they lost $12 million over the past 18-months.   But the sales details remain a secret.   Though, to be honest, Funcom is clear that they don't think sales were as good as hoped for:

They don't delete posts for no reason at all. That means you broke a rule and they felt that your post deserved to be deleted. And saying nice mature post and following it up by throwing mud really doesn't speak well for you. If you want mature responses, then you should probably learn to post some yourself. While I don't feel it's necessary to slander other games, sometimes zylaxx is right to do so when people feel the need to compare and state that "[insert game here] is so amazing and awesome and better than GW2" with no facts or reasons and honestly deserve a slap in the face to get them back to reality in that their game isn't all they make it out to be. And again, you throw words in our mouth like everyone who hates the game and feels the need to bash it, only a small majority of players praise GW2 as the [insert whatever over exaggerated praise you want] but the majority know that there are things wrong with the game that are deal breakers to others.

Thats where your wrong though.  Based on previous knowledge and history of gaming in MMO's.  WvW (RvR in DAoC) was a worthwhile and rewarding experience that kept players entertained for thousands of hours and years untill the great PvE debacle of ToA changed the whole power structure and rewarded time spent playing over the more traditional DAoC paradigm of skill matters.

 

Then you dont even bring up the flawed arguments the blogger tried to make concerning the other forms of endgame or the total asanine remark that Dynamic Events are of the same useless calibre as WoW's Voice Chat.

 

I am glad you like GW2 but it still begs the question what proof do you have that it will be a "3 monther" when all statistics and experience say this will be as big a hit on the MMO market as WoW was in 2004.  GW2 is the evolutionary successor to WoW and even non gaming entities such as market analysts are predicting it to change the way MMO's are developed for the forseable future.

I'm sorry but you have no, 'proof', beyond anything but your already over inflated expectations.  Lots of these discussions simply breakdown to, 'I'm really hyped for this game and I don't get why this guy isn't'.

Personally I think he's points have merit, but how it'll work out in the longterm is the issue for many people.  He even admits himself he could be wrong, are you capable of that?

DE's do not reset.

They always move up or down their path. They only move from 1 state to another.

 

It really is a big difference.

Reset means that an object or a quest will default to its original state without any outside intervention.

It will "time out" and default itself.

 

DE's change states.

Lets say a DE has 3 states, the player starts the event and manages to reach phase nr2.

Then the player decides to leave the area forgetting all about the event. What that means is that the event itself will stay stuck on phase 2 until an external factor pushes it back to either 1 or 3. The event will not time out and default itself.

Meaning a DE is a persistent change to the gameworld.

It will persist until changed by someone or something else.
