I tried the game out, looked interesting.. Permadeath i can deal with, but Permadeath bundled with PvP i cant stomach... But as everyone knows, Open PVP means griefers, and griefers are not fun... Either make PvE servers, Allow us to flag PVE, or make PVP only avalible via factions... ill be following this game, but wont be playing it... Heres hoping for PvE

The whole game is designed around perma death, it would break without it. If you understood the game you would realise why, but its too tedious to explain. There will never be pve servers, I can garentee you that 100%.

however I was thinking about this other day and in theory there is a way you can play and never get killed. you could live as a player trader, stay perminantly in boston. buy and sell things you need, especially with new player owned shops. it would probably be quite tedious, as its not what the game is designed for its in interesting thought anyway

^ lol bit extreme but I agree with the sentiment. there are plenty of games that dont have permadeath, so go play them instead. 

however tons of bitching and moaning for pve server is envitable in any game that tries to do something different..

Dude said he won't be playing it as is and would like PvE option. If they did implement a PvE server separate from the PvP server how would that effect you? Ah yes, that's right. It wouldn't.

no it wasnt...this games development did not start with "permadeath" at the top and everything else conceived from that, its a concept more so then the run of the mill pvp games,  a lot of you are in for a huge surprize

Like i said, Permadeath, not an issue, its the combination of PVP & Permadeath that i dislike, im not going to loose all my progress beacuse some idiot player killer gets his rocks off ruining other peoples fun. If i die, beacuse my dumbass attacked a bear or something, thats my fault, i control my destiny..

I wish I had known this game had permadeath and pvp.  Grr... missed the beta key handout on this one.

He is prob upset, cuse he knows if they create a PvE server, the PVP servers would be barren waste lands, Just like when Ultima Online released the Trammel Rule set, Felucca died..

(for those who dont know what UO is, Felucca was the original world, was open PVP full loot.. then they released Trammel an exact copy of Felucca, but no PvP no Full Loot, and Felucca died pretty much, i almost bet the same would happen in this game)

It would change what the game is at it's core.  If a game isn't good enough for a player, they really need to  move on.  It's basically obvious this game isn't for him.  His changes might even ruin it for him.  Did you consider that?  Why are you so angry?

People who don't want to PVP need to just educate themselves on what type of game they are playing, and if it's a pvp game they need to graciously remove themselves without running to the forums demanding core system changes and threatening the game company with the prospect that they will spend their money elsewhere. Saying something does not deserve ot exist because you do not agree with it is fundamentally evil.

I think it would be enough to have a way to secure your holdings rather than have consequences. The PvP exists, but there's a way with some effort to build a safe area to do your day to day whatever in the game.

I don't really to bring up Minecraft in a Salem thread again, but with Faction style mods, you can create a zone that is owned by your faction, where you can build a safe place and raise animals and farm without having to worry over much about people attacking you so long as you secure the area properly. You're limited in how much you can mine, so you'll have to leave your safe zone eventually, but you can have a safe place. I think this is a good way to do things.

The core of the game isn't PvP. It's crafting and building, so please explain how allowing people to have the choice between PvE and PvP would ruin the game for anyone. 

Even the people who are making the game call it The Crafing MMO.

And even though some care-bears want it, it will not happen, it goes againest the developer's philosophy in the game's predecesser Haven & Hearth and that carries over for salem.
