No, a raid boss does not need to be instanced. I never said that. One of the reasons they have become generally instanced is because others would grief the raiders, causing a wipe. |

Originally posted by grapevine So what are you saying cause it sounds like your saying this DE is in fact a raid but not and instance raid. Aerowyn posted the deffenition to what a raid is and thats what that DE is its a DE With the elemenets of a raid emcounter fight meaning it takes a group larger than normal group size to bring down a boss that takes between 8 and 40 player to do. |

Originally posted by Treekodar I am really, really hoping that starting around level 40 that these kinds of encounters are going to be increasingly punishing. I'm just as interested in the fail conditions, and people learning how to work together to do these encounters, as I am in beating a zone boss. I really want to see places like Orr requiring several guilds working together, with unguilded people obviously being able to participate and help. And I THINK that's how it's intended to work, as they want to progressively train the PvE folks to be able to jump into WvW. "Loading screens" are not "instances". |

Exactly, why they aren't raid bosses. There's no mechanics that put the group truely at risk. If someone screws up, they do it to themselves, and don't have that much (if any) impact on those around them. |

Seriously I don't know what the issue is. Its well known GW2 has no raids, by design.
One min fanbois are praising it for just that, then this.
There's nothing wrong with not having raids. DE's are just fine, its just more casual orientated.

Originally posted by grapevine GW2 doesn't have wow style instanced raids yet every defintion I have ever seen on the word Raids when it comes to gaming shows GW2 has raids.. so we can say all day GW2 does not have wow style instanced raids but don't see how you can say it doesn't have raids period. That's my point. I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. Originally posted by grapevine Wait this doesn't make any sense, so if a game doesn't have open world PvP or on a PvE server that means it has no raids? And suddenly when you switch to a PvP server, you have that risk of being pked and then it's a raid? WTF? |

GW2 can call these events "pancakes" for all I care as long as my friends and I enjoy them. |

Originally posted by grapevine no they just have mechanics that put the rest of the world at risk in that zone, that's nothing compared to ten people. It's only the zone you know. Everything in GW2 has consquences when you fail an event. don't kid yourself there bud. |

I'm going to stop here, as clearly I'm not communicating with raiders.
It makes perfect sence. Open world raids used to exist, with complex mechanics. They moved them to be more instanced because people would grief the raid, causing a wipe. GW2 has world boss encounters, within DEs. They have redunced mechanics compared to raid bosses, to provent griefing. |
