How exactly will this work? Will there be a zone or something thats a WvW free for all? Cross server battles? I've played an hour in each of two Stress Tests, that's it, I didnt want to ruin anything for launch, so I didnt dive too deep. Level 4 or 5 in 3 classes. I pre-ordered the collectors edition and am VERY excited!
Anyone that can explain the WvW a bit would be very much appreciated.

My sig has good videos on it
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg |

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft' might win, by fearing to attempt |

I'm sure some good folks here will come through with some incredible info as always, but for starters check this one out if you haven't seen it yet. it's a very basic primer but helped me quite a bit in beginning to understand the layout. http://youtu.be/dnOhMeYxhRM?hd=1
^ Aerowyn is faster to the draw, more well informed and much more helpful for putting that all together, than this old man could ever hope to be :) |

Originally posted by Mogus Basically, 3 servers are paired up depending on previous matches performance (so you don't get a very active PvP oriented server steamrolling trough 2 more casual servers). There are 4 maps, 3 of them look the same (one for each server) and a middle center one, you reach them trough asura gates on Lion's Arch or within the maps themselves. On each map there are several structures (towers, keeps, supply points and so on), each one of them has some NPCs, you capture them by first breaching the walls or gate (towers and keeps) to enter and then defeating a mini boss inside of them, points are awarded for keeping them (so you also need to defend them) and at the end of the match (1 day at first, then 2 weeks later) points are tallied and a victor is declared, and a new match begins. That in a nutshell, of course there are lots of more to it, like siege weapons, that some are strong against players and weak against structures and the other way around, supply that you can carry with you to repair keeps or build sieges and need to be taken from supply camps, the supply camp themselves that have caravans that take supply to your towers and keeps so you can upgrade them, and the caravan themselves can be attacked and need to be defended, there are NPC camps that you can help and they'll fight for you for a time (some will give you NPC guards, others will give you AoE attacks/heals) and so on. What can men do against such reckless hate? |
