I felt as if my engineer was toned down by a large amount. 2 tests ago I personally felt as if the engineer was just right, yesterday to me the class felt a little bit too weak overall. (having tested a fair amount of builds) I'm confident that Anet will get the balance right at some point though at the moment some of the changes feel....strange. Perhaps there are some new synergies that eluded me yesterday... who knows.
I do know that there is a very big difference between what you think will work out with the buildeditor and what actually works in the game. Not all conditions work correctly at the moment for example or have different effects/durations then what the tooltip says.
edit: Actually my biggest "problem" with the engineer is that I don't feel any of his downed skills are effective compared to some other classes. For me the engineer is the one class I can not concistently rally back up in PvP. |

Originally posted by Elesthor Oh wow thank you very much for that. I can see how some are noticing the guardian and mesmer. I like both classes and I see the guardian's heals are either being reduced or having the cd extended a bit. As well as some damage reduction. Still haven't decided which profession to play. Think I will make Mesmer my secondary. Uh who am I kidding I'll probably buy all possible slots so I can make every class.
Will probably be a toss up between mes, ranger and guardian on who gets the main spot. Glad to see mesmer getting some love. Thought the class was a bit weak but I'm sure I wasn't playing it to its potential. |

I didn't know the thief got a buff...I won't complain though! Last stress test I completely destroyed most of the other classes in 1vs1 or 1vs2, except pro guardians/necros. Those 2 are still very strong 1vs1 professions. |

MMO games would be pretty cool if it weren't for the people. |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Patchnotes and the actual effect on my personal playsyle and seeing in general how it actually works out in game are completely separate things. They are an indication what to look for but often they still aren't enough for me personally to draw a conclusion. I agree that not having any real time overlay or addon parsers is a good thing but manually parsing a combat log dump is a grey area for me. I'vIn my raiding days I've used some combat log parsers that can only be used after the actual combat has ended to get a better understanding of the effects of skills etc. but never used anything visible in-game to have a hps race against my fellow raid healer. But with balancing it comes down to actual numbers and if I can't verify the numbers and I don't perceive much change as described in some patchnotes then I don't draw a conclusion. |

Unfortunately for my favourite build they nerfed Necro sceptre into the toilet - but then I didn't play - just checked ou the stats drop in GW2 Guru. I hope they see the error of the change before the game goes live. |

Thieves did get some buffs, but ArenaNet is still trying to play within the current system. The Thief doesn't need tweaks, though, they need a base overhaul. I'm just wondering at what point they will finally admit that Initiative / Stealth / Steal / Traits / Venom Sharing / etc. all don't work as intended, and certainly refuse to synergize with each other. |

Balancing is a constant effort in pretty much all MMOs, even the PvE only ones. Better get used to regular changes to your class(es). ArenaNet have a pretty good record when it comes to staying on top of exploitable builds and the metagame fortunately, so the classes will probably stay within a rather narrow band of comparative power.
With GW2 being an actual MMORPG rather than a lobby game like GW1 I'm not sure the heavy focus on sPvP balance at the expense of the other areas of the game is a good idea though. Maybe there should be some more consideration to PvE and WvW. |

It makes more sense to have those completly seperated from PvE or world PvP since sPvP is designed to be an e-sport. |

What class should I play if I want to be a healer? I know there's no trinity, but surely there must be some way to support my team with something else than a DPS race. Is mesmer a good bet? Also, sorry about hijacking the thread. Eleanor Rigby. |

Originally posted by Treekodar There are no healers, and the type of playstyle you are thinking of is called "support". Please use that turn so that you don't draw aggro like a tank.
Anyways, any class can support viably. I like playing support warrior. I also like playing bubbles guardian, which is less support that zone control with support built in. Thief can support with blindness and aoe stealth fields. Ranger has those spirits. It all works. I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote. |

I'm typing this in a window with standard unformatted text with blocks of code above. I love support as an Engineer I'm going to have fun spraying healing spew all over my allies while they're fighting up ahead! |

They finally nerfed my Throw Elixir U, so I'm fairly confident I'm done with the Engineer... again. I never enjoyed the Condition based builds as it were, Rifle was fun but only if Elixir U's thrown remained. Engineers shaping up very nicely , its just not what I started with.
Moved over to a Thief after retrying my Necro, Ranger, and Mesmer. Thief felt the best ... I'd always wanted Swords to be viable, now they are.
