So yeah, I just got pre-purchased GW2 today and just got my computer on Augest 2nd... i'm a retard and i'm kinda worried that I did something here wrong, is it possible for us to log into Guild Wars 2 and you just go to the login screen? Idk if there even is a login screen but when I try to log in it says "Either there is no current Guild Wars 2 event or this account is not authorized to participate in one. If you believe an event is running that you should have acess to please contact Customer Support. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com" is this normal? Does this happen to all people that bought the game because it isn't out yet? I hope it's normal...

Originally posted by Cowboy700 Yeah, all it's saying is that the games not open yet and there's no open beta events running so it won't let you in. That's totally normal. During betas, or stress tests, or when the game launches, you'll be just fine. |

Yes, that's the standard message that you get when there is no beta event or stress test. No reason to worry about that :) |

No worries. It's completely normal.
With earlier client versions (Beta Weekend 1 and 2) you could launch the game, see the full-screen login window and access the preferences before logging in. With the newest version you don't have that. The message you are getting is the one everyone is getting when trying to login now. Unless they have another stress test (keep an eye on facebook and twitter) the first time you'll be able to login will be with the early access on august 25th.
Be sure to activate your key and your account though. If you are able to login into the forums (http://forum.guildwars2.com) then you know your account is okay. |

If you want to get into the log in screen in the game right click on the shortcut and add "-useoldlauncher" without " " and leaving a single space like this X:\whatever\whatever\GW2.exe -useoldlauncher You can listen to the music and see graphic options and whatnot. Currently playing: GW2 |

I would love to use the old launcher but.. it's not working. If I right click it nothing happens when I type that in. Do I change the name of Guild Wars 2 on the shortcut? I'm confused D:

Also, I get this error when I open GW2:We've detected that your computer is using a graphics driver with known issues continuing
to play may result in side effects, such as reduced client preformance, visual artifacts and crashes. Please report to our support forums for the latest supported driver version. Should I be worried about this? And how can I get the latest supported driver? I'm... so bad. |

First, make sure -useoldlauncher is on the shortcut target line, outside the quotation marks, ex. "D:\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe" -useoldlauncher.
Second, I'm guessing you have an nvidia card as you're getting that error? Apparently there will be new drivers coming out soon, make sure you update before launch. |

Yeah I got a nvidia I have a Nvidia GTX 560.

But where do I put -useoldlauncher? I have no clue what to do D: You guys are sayin' to right click the icon on my desktop?

Right click the shortcut, select properties. A new window opens up with info regarding the shortcut, there should be a box somewhere on that window that says "Target:", and to the right of it it has the file path for where your GW2 is installed. At the VERY end, write -useoldlauncher. Then hit Apply/Save/OK button at the bottom of that window, and launch the game using that shortcut. Hope that helps :)

Glad you got it working! ^^
When you have the old login screen up, there's an options icon at the top left corner, you can mess with some of the settings before being able to log in. (or at least so I would remember) |
