EVE in 2013 - DUST 514, CSM8, Fanfest, 10th Anniversary, Uprising, Odyssey. Gonna be a good year :) |
Only found two threads with 'sandboxer' and one with 'visceral combat' Visceral was recently in an article, btw, and was used exactly how you called it - A dev describing his game (AoC). filmoret: One thing I have never figured out is why the game devs hardly ever fix simple problems that arise. It is like they don't care about the pvp community. Nitth: What makes you so sure its a simple fix? filmoret: Because most of them are. Sometimes its just changing a number in a code string other times its creating a few variables. However none of them should take over a few hours of coding. |

"sub numbers" "end game" "holy trinity" "time sink" "e-sport" "e-peen" "{insert title here} is not an mmo" "How should I know if it works? That's what beta testers are for. I only coded it." |

Refreshing: it usually isn't. Miracle Patch / Jesus Patch: used by critics to blow a patch out of proportion "Too little, too late.": it's usually neither. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

Some of the cliches I've remembered: "Zerg/zergfest" edit- "Hivemind", "depth", "elves and orcs", "kool-aid". Also add "/hater" to "fanboi", and maybe add "up to high heaven" onto "hype". I think a more fun challenge is to find out how many of these cliches can be used in a sentence. Here's an example of most of my list used in a sentence: "These ADHD kids are just going to be disappointed when they find out that it's just the same old casual asian tab-target on rails instanced FOTM wow clone zergfest with floaty movement since you white knights like to hype it up to high heaven like it's the second coming of jesus." Underlined are the ones on my list, italicized are the ones already on OP's list.
I'm sure there are more we all missed :P. |

Any of these words used in marketing campaigns:
If I see these words getting thrown around in interviews, it makes me think the game is headed towards an inevitable shutdown that can only be described by these other "ic" words:
Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure. |

Spoonfeeding should be next in line to handholding and dumbed-down. Hotkey-based is the other side of the coin to action-based combat, and twitch is often used for the latter. game-X-drone is pretty common these days too. Also the non-descriptive HUGE. Or, more precisely, HUUUUUUUUUGE!!!! |

Originally posted by Novusod Topic-wise, "sandbox rabblerabble themepark yammeryammer" is in a close race with "things were way better in the good old days" and "Game of the month--best (worst) game evar?!?" for number one most common. If course, there's not always a release in the immediate future (meaning for parts of the year, we have to survive solely on the first two).
