Actally, sadly, pie baking is a dynamic event, with a nice little timer (cause the pie has to get into the oven!) the orange circle on the map and all that jazz :)

Originally posted by Saydien They are so detailed he said he played in the stress test with a pre-order. On the other hand his points are pretty much the same points being made for months. The sad part is that you can listen to the voice in several youtube videos. People are free to not like a game. That doesn't mean the other people are deciding to bury their heads and overlook crazy problems to claim they like the game. Cameraand controls - work fine for me. Why is my opinion more or less relevant than the OP? Because I enjoy the game instead of disliking it? So is the camera and controls a problem or a question of preference? Currently playing: GW2 |

Originally posted by Jagarid As i sad, i am still on the fence, i will try some pvp tonight and hope that part will justify the price. What is really starting to irk me more then the shortcomings of the game itself (no, no game is perfect and every mmo can be improved in many ways), is the bizzare fanaticism of the true believers here who will tear you down to shreds even if you just consider posting something that doesnt fit their OMG BEST GAME EVAH mind set :( |

Originally posted by Saydien You haven't played the game either, so you seem to be just agreeing with unfounded criticism you have read elsewhere. I know there is a tendency for people to believe something if they've heard it a few times before, but when people just recylce BS, it doesn't become something other than BS due to repetition. The game isn't perfect, so it isn't as if no one can say anything critical of the game with any sense of validity. However, people who have played the game extensively can sniff out BS pretty easily. Sadly, it's a pretty common occurance on gaming forums for people to decide they don't like a game, with out a basis in personal experience, then regurgitate ill informed hearsay, with the embelishment that it's based on "personal experience" that they don't actually have. Because they haven't played the game, but have assumed that criticism they have read elsewhere, which has reinforced their own pre-judgement of the game, must be accurate, they will readily make statements that give away to anyone who has played the game that the poster, in reality, has not. I think it's silly to arrive at opinions based on the opinions of others, with out any actual knowledge as to the accuracy of what someone else has said. I think it's even more silly to try to give one's heresay opinions false bona fides. The reason people who know BS is BS when they read it bristle, is because they know that when BS is left unchallenged, someone will accept the BS as reality and spread the BS as fact. Just the act of someone regurgitating inaccuracies in the guise of informed opinion becomes proof of that phenomena. Sometimes fans can put blinders on about flaws with a game, just as critics can sometimes take a criticism with some actual foundation and then exagerate it to the point that the criticism is no longer valid. However, sometimes critics introduce BS to support their criticism and people who know better should not be fauilted for pointing out the problems with the criticism. I find that if there is something worth criticizing about this game or any other, I will aknowledge it. I may put it into context or offer reasons why, in my experience, the issue in question isn't really that big a deal. Other times, I might completely agree with the criticism and offer my thoughts on how the issue in question could be adressed by the developers. We aren't all blind to valid criticism, but that doesn't mean that we can't get our backs up over criticism that is unfair, uninformed or unfounded! Originally posted by Amatal No the timer is to give you time to drop your apples before the event ends. You are right, it is a level 4 event that happens in the same spot as renown heart. Not all dynamic events are complex.
What about the dynamic event where you go around closing portals in the swamp and once you close it you have to face a giant boss at around level 12? Also common? Currently playing: GW2 |

let me see... comparing first hour of WoW to first hour of GW2 I would choose GW2 according to that. But really? Making final assumption about MMO based on one hour? Will you allow that couple of features make or break a game for you. Then im sorry that you got dissapointed. You may or may not miss a lot. Main MMO at the moment: Guild Wars 2 |

Originally posted by Amatal It is not fanatism, if you read carefully every positive opinion, we're not closed to constructive criticism. It's just that it's too late now, the game has been pre-purchased for most, we have nearly all played the BWEs, so we all have a strong opinion about that game. So in short : some people creating negative topics is plainly useless, and most of all boring. We don't need 218912892 topics about the cash shop, or the no trinity, or the gear things, etc. There has been tons of them created already, and we have already read the same arguments over and over again about every goddamn point made by critical minds. We are already AWARE about GW2's downsides, thank you. And therefore, we don't need some people to remind them constantly with new topic flooding. That's why they're being bashed systematically. Because at this point, each new guy blindly hitting the "Create topic to repeat the same rant over and over" just feels like some freshman who didn't care to inform himself about that community, and what has already been discussed tons of times, all while yelling "Hey guys I'm important listen to me !!!". Basically just some forum noise. ***** Before hitting that reply button, please READ the WHOLE thread you're about to post in ***** |

This impression is so hilarious... 1 hour gameplay? really? lol. Do yourself a favor, shut up and play the game for a few hours straight, then come again and tell us your experience. |

Originally posted by Saydien Yes he made valid points for someone who played for 1 hour. If I'd post my first hour experience from WoW back in TBC when I started I'd say that it was a hideously ugly game with confusing controls, but when you play it a bit longer you see that it's a really good game. It's not fanatism to point out that the OP is biased against the game before he tried it, or that his points are mostly invalid due to the short time he played it. What you're doing is playing on the we vs. them mentality that affects the MMO community by using stupid hyperbole like fanatism and fanboys. |

I don't even feel like disecting this post, but I will say this.. If I judged games after an hour of playing them I would probably quit playing over 80% of the games I have played in the past 5 years afterward. |

The first hour of Everquest I spend stuck in a tunnel from Surefall Galde that lead to Qeymos Hills completely blind as a human and wondering what to do while desperately trying to get out. I finally found the candle. If I had given up after an hour I would have missed the best MMO I ever played.

Originally posted by Denambren I tend to agree. DE's will get boring after awhile - People will just do the big boss DE's and all the others will be ghost area's one month after launch. |

Originally posted by Nitth Yes. Stress test yesterday was EU prime time. Stress test today is US prime time. No region restrictions, we can all play in both. It wouldn't surprise me if we have more before release. BWE3 was the last full weekend event, more than a month before launch. Many MMOs have beta weekends the entire last month before launch. It's good that they are doing stress tests to iron out potential server/connectivity issues before launch and to test the graphics optimizations. I hope after the game is out, if its good or bad, that you all look back on the comments you made in these threads and just feel ashamed. I have never seen a video game completely break people down like this one has. GW2 has made this community go insane. I cant believe that any of you are actually thinking about what you are typing. Everyone of you is acting like the worst bottom feeding trolls, but you arent trolling and thats what is really scary to me.

One hour of play during a stress test, and the OP thinks their opinion is valid and worth forum space? wow....... A creative person is motivated by the desire to achieve, not the desire to beat others. |
