It's true, GW2 is in the prime of its life. Just as all games are before they are released.

GW2 is nothing really "new" guys. It's a mixture of a few games already on the market.
Not sure where all this "trust" is coming from hehe BigCountry | Head Hunters | www.wefarmpeople.com |

I am glued to DayZ as of late also....that game is so immersive, it's super fun. I do not think I have sandboxed this hard since early UO.
It's going to be hard for GW2 to pull me back in, I am not going to lie.
GW2 is ultra carebear compared to a game like DayZ. BigCountry | Head Hunters | www.wefarmpeople.com |

Originally posted by QuicklyScott You can base this on their track record with gw1 as well as the quality of gw2 in its beta phases. I played gw1 on and off since it launched in addition to whatever other mmorpgs i was playing. With every new expansion they were able to obtain more players/fans as they did before and they were able to retain these fans and keep them rabid until now. with every passing year, anet was always diligent in balancing the game, hosting tournaments, adding not only new content but new mechanics to the game. THIS IS WITHOUT EVEN ASKING A SUBSCRIPTION FEE OR A REAL ITEM MALL. By only relying on box sales they were able to maintain server costs, provide constant balance updates, add new content/mechanics/classes, and DEVELOP GW2. If that is not being efficient with their money I don't know what is.
the actual monetary price is not the investment. the investment is the characters you make, the virtual money you make, the armor/weapons you collect, and the achievements you unlock. when the mmorpg company decides to make a run for it, the game dies and you lose all those things you spent countless hours collecting. Also, i said maybe topple WoW. There's always a possibility, though I didn't say i was really counting on it. |

I trust in Blizzard. I don't care about the mistakes they've made and all of the hate they are getting. The guys at Blizzard knows how to make fantastic games and have never let me down Edit: Forgot to say that i love ArenaNet! |

Its probably to GW2's credit that it is not like DayZ. DayZ is fun for what it is but it sure as hell doesn't set a standard for quality. Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. |

The difference with Guild Wars 2 versus all the other online games that have come out in the past 5 or 6 years is that they are very open with the game and what they want to accomplish with it. There are thousands of YouTube videos, everyone has had a chance to play it, and all the information about the game is out there. There is no NDA telling people they can't talk about the game and beta testers telling the company that the game is not ready to release because of some big glaring issues. As far as I can tell, Guild Wars 2 has no real game breaking issues. At this point, either you like the game or you don't because all the information is out there already. Perhaps you will get bored with it, but that is not really the fault of the game, that is really up to the individual. Age of Conan failed because after level 20, there was basically no game. Warhammer failed because end game was totally broken and it lagged like crazy, and the testers told Mythic that, but the game was pushed out anyway. SWTOR failed because there is no end game and it is basically a copy of WoW without all the good stuff and people are bored of that already. Aion failed in the West because of the massive grind that Westerners do not like. I can keep going but this will turn into a novel. The main reason these games all failed ultimately is because they are games made to make money, rather than making money from a good game. Arena.net has the passion to pull off a great game, whereas EA just wanted to cash in on WoW. |

Originally posted by jusomdude Not only does your original statement still make no sense, but you apparently do not fundamentally understand the way forums work. You are not in your own chat room with other people having a private conversation. Just an FYI.
Not only that, but you listed 4 variables when there are only 3...
Additionally, you said the stupidly cheesy saying incorrectly. It goes, "this is an A B conversation, so C your way out of here."
OT: Trust in the developers is well deserved by ArenaNet, but so has trust in so many other developers. I just don't really buy into the trust thing anymore because there have been an abundance of breaches of trust by seemingly sure things over the years. Fortunately, I actually got to play GW2 and can definitely see that they are creating something special here. Even if this one goes perfect and Jesus comes down to save us all from our own sins, it's not going to convert me into a person that tends to "trust" developers. I suppose I view that trust as blind faith. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

SWTOR,WAR,AOC and many others....promised features and content and then didn't deliver them...
GW2 promised features and content and then delivered them....as evidenced by the BWE's...
That tells me I can trust them more then most MMO releases....
This thread tells me that people who enjoy working a 2nd job and calling it a game are still butthurt GW2 isn't catering to them.... |

I'm not even sure this game is considered to be a mmo just because it has persistence now. So much instancing is still being used like the personal story and map travel. How do you map travel in a mmo ? MMOs are supposed to be worlds not the weekend stay at your favorite shoreline that happens only a 2-3 times in the summer. |

Originally posted by nukempro Well we still should be humble atleast fans, because the only thing A- NET has yet to prove is if what they are doing will remain consistant and their views remain true.
Like we know so far GW2 isn't P2W So far all the features they promised is there Now we as fans should see and hope they stick to that post release. Though that's what I'm doing at least, because every company have fans that trust them, but then they screw them in the end. A-NET does get a plus 1 for GW 1 though because they never went against their philosophy on that game. Hope I made sense lmao. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c Try to argue this please. Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |

Originally posted by Ezhae Arenanet hasnt dissapointed at any major front? Literally the ONLY thing they have done/released was original guild wars and associated guild wars products. They havent had a chance to dissapoint. All the trust in Arenanet to me is hilarious. GW1 was not an mmo by any stretch of the imagination, so you can't use that as a reference point for trust that they're not gonna screw up a real MMO. So, literally all of this is blind faith "The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently." - Friedrich Nietzsche |
