I have been looking for a game based on settling in North America. Building your house, clearing, farming and worrying about indians attacking. I dont want an RTS, never got into them. Is there such a game like this? It would be nice if it was online, but just the theme would be great.
Thanks all |

Xsyon sort of fits with the description. I don't know current condition of the game.

I have played Xyson almost from the beginning and it is a mess. One of the most tedious games I have ever played. I know the Devs have worked hard on it and I played for a good month or so, but I just couldnt get into it. Maybe when they have it polished a little more I will check it out, but for now...nope. Filled with gankers and the interface has got to be one of the worst I have seen. Never heard of Salem. Will check it out. Isnt that the game that has perma death?
EDIT: Just looked up Salem. It has perma death. Since I am playing DAYZ, I could get into it. I used to be affraid of perma-death games, but DAYZ got me hooked. |

Right now theres not much out there for you. I would give Uncharted Waters a try if I was you, they offer at least some of the features you wanted like being able to settle build a farm. Best I can give you for now but i will keep thinking.

Salem is a browser game, strongly suggest ignoring that title. You want a settlement type mmo? settlers and native americans. Keep an eye on the game below: Guild Wars 2 |

Originally posted by Preacher26 That would be wrong, Salem is a Java game, like Haven & Hearth from the same developers. I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. Please post or send PM for corrections and suggestions. |

An old DOS game, Colonization (wikipedia entry), comes to mind. "Sid Meier's Colonization is a computer game by Brian Reynolds and Sid Meier released by MicroProse in 1994. It is a turn-based strategy game themed on the early European colonization of the New World, starting in 1492 and lasting until 1850." There is also a 2008 Civ IV: Colonization version: Are these too old? Have you tried them out? I must admit that though I have the original DOS disc, I have never played it :) - Al Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. |
