A sword is never a killer, it is a tool in the killer's hands. |

After looking through the elite armors it does look like you only have a few choices if you don't want to be wearing a robe.

To the OP...if you think rolling around in robes is silly....try doing it in PLATE.
Seriosuly, you'd break bones trying to move like that in full plate, if you even COULD.
In all seriousness though, most cloth sets aren't very....robe-like. There's a set called Acolyte or something like that which was a little robe-y. Also, I was amused and pleased to notice cloh sets that reach the floor all have divided skirts, giving you a LOT more range of movement. Another litlte nice touch by Anet. |

Man up - robes are da bomb. Come on - all the evil guys usually have robes.
Also, it takes a REAL man to wear a robe!!! :-) |

Remember you can mix and match pieces from sets. Even though everyone knows about transmuting appearances it's easy to forget that you don't have to pick just from full sets.
There's plenty of non robe outfits but even if you don't see any that strike your fancy, there's a huge variety of different styles in each slot. You might be very surprised at what you come up with when you start mixing and matching.
Some outfits have fancy items in certain slots and then...pretty plain pants. Or ditto for another slot in the set like sleeves or something. You should be able to pick things out from several different sets to come up with a variety of looks besides the set looks from complete in game sets. |

But , to more the point with Transmutation Stones, you can combine pants with the atributes of robes you find and bam..you now have fancy pants. Problem solved. Also, there's racial gear too.

OMG that is the most evil, horrible, insidious thing to say! YES TO ROBES! Sorry, always the boring pants +shirt is so dull. Of course a robe must made good in a game. But there are so many cool robes! UNTHINKABLE to be against robes! *sob*
Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

http://dulfy.net/2012/07/21/gw2-armor-previews/ Aesthetics aren't a huge deal overall, but I really don't like the armor in this game. Forget the robes for a sec and just look at the armor sets: Skirts, miniskirts, loincloths and all manner of unsavory waist-hanging drapery worn over pants. I see one armor (and a recolor of the same thing) as not featuring this. Oh well. |

I'm quite the opposite. I prefer robes than armor. Armor is bulky and clunky.
