I was just over at the Burbank Target store (Empire) and saw SWTOR priced at $14.99. |

So what perks do you get with the box at 15 bucks when the F2P goes live. What I mean is is it best to buy the box now or just wait for FTP.

Maybe if it was BTP. Maybe.

Would you like to see more of it? For only $14.99 you too can learn about "The Mysterious Case of SWTOR's failure as a Competitor to WoW!" Hm... That was a lot more drawn out than intended. |

From the F2P announcement on IGN.com (http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/31/star-wars-the-old-republic-going-free-to-play)
"The first of the new updates will come this August, alongside a temporary sale of The Old Republic for $14.99, which nets users both the game and a one-month subscription."
I don't see why the OP is so surprised by this being that it was announced last month that it would be happening... |

If you buy a box you get the 1 month sub and an undisclosed amount of the new cashshop cartel coin currencey. If you do plan on subbing, it is a much better deal then the 40 bucks origin is charging for a direct download. Potshot-It would also be eco-friendly, keeping one more package out of the land fill. |

Looks like it is going to be over-priced on Origins when it comes down to $14.99 as well!

To further deflate any value to the Collector's Edition as well, apparently the price was reduced to $29.99. I think EA missed the idea of collector's editions being .. limited .. and an envy amongst other collectors...

It comes with an authenticator though, but crooks interested in making money would likely steal an account in a different game. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |

Originally posted by waynejr2 No issue, just didn't see the point of the thread. Almost everyone knew the price was dropping starting in August. I think this site is cluttered enough with obvious threads, it didn't really need another one. But I suppose if someone neglected to read the 20 + articles about the game going F2P or was in hiding for the last two weeks, then this would be informative. Oh and the fact that you made the thread in the first place was a key indication that you thought it was surprising and news worth reporting. Almost (and I'm not insinuating that you are one) seems like a troll thread trying to get more people to say stupid crap about SWTOR. (Not that I care about it either, just that that horse has been necro'd and beaten so many times there is nothing left). |

Man i was so disappointed, this game had so much potential,it came so close.I believe 100% EA is the reason it was only half as in depth as it should have been as i have played Bioware games before and they were pretty good. I would have gladly paid 60 bucks and had 2 accounts as i did have a bit of fun.I took each class to 20 in hopes that i would see some kind of depth in combat but it never arrived.Even then i still figured if something else could grab me ,i would play this game. The crafting was the final straw ,another aspect fo the game done cheap with auto mode npc use.I think of crafting i want extreme depth like i had with FFXI or even EQ2. At that point if crafting had of been similar to say Fallen earth,i probably would have stuck around,so ya the game came that close. I do not judge my gaming on cost, well as long as not a cash shop influence,i judge it solely on the fun/challenge/depth factor. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |
