Cool to read what is good in GW2 but I would like to read what you find not good. Every game something bad and everyone decide for himself whether he will play it or not, this is normal and nobody expect any ideal game. 1. So for me was not usual at first bad customization of faces in begin of the game.I choosed a human, there was quite brutal face, and any changing of this face were not radical, you can correct it but the main face was the same. Compare with Aion
2. Movement of the hero. When you make short click in any side, his legs don't almost moving but hero move quite fast. This is the worst for me, I like to look at details and when legs step on the ground and ground move unter legs faster, when you click in side and again by magic the character moving by itself without any physik laws, all of this makes me this that works is done fast, the produck is cheap and has not a lot of quality. Again, another example from Aion (put maximum quality and full screen to see better what I mean), the char moving very precise. leg on the ground - leg don't move faster or slower than ground, they are really together.
3. Not important thing but as I told, I like to look at details. The picture, when the world loading, I mean when you choosed your hero and click "play", after appear the picture during several seconds. It is awful, little, not clear and not interesting at all. I could make that pic for 1 hour in photoshop. Again, to proove another example from Aion. Beautiful picture, very clear, high resolution, you can put it in your wallpaper and so on. To do that is so easy in compare with other parts of the game, for instance with the movement process, but it have great impression, I see, that work is done precisely, all is beautiful and everywhere was guy, who asked himself if it is cool or not. Sure asians are perfect in details but I don't think that other can't do this.
4. Map. Again. quite not clear, not high resoluted, not functionable. Icons are also very not clear, for example the guy who repair your clothes, what icon on map he has? You will never guess - the broken heart. By first vie I'd not understand it. Again, my example from Aion, where in last update they did amazing map. The video has from 2.7 update, so it is not new. But already, a lot of information, exist search line to find NPC, you can write on map in new 3.0 Update, all icons are clear, high resoluted. Sure, I understand that this is just begin of the game, but in Aion the first map was already better that this one.
Despite of what I said, I like GW2 and anyways I'll play it, so you can not tell "go back in Aion if you don't like it". I really played Aion quite long and I have good possibility to compare these 2 games, that have very good advantages. As I see now, Aion loosing position, but in my opinion in technical and visual work Aion is still better than a lot of games including GW2. GW2 winning by another facts, but not by visual component in my opinion.

One thing I was surprised to find out about with first beta, was that skill slots were lvl based. Of course I expected that you needed to unlock skillpoints. But I never expected to earn more skills and not having skill bar slots available to me to put them in. I can't think of anything else atm. GW2 is a very good MMO imo.

As for lag in WVW, I have no idea how they can fix it (if it even is possible), but I sure hope they find a solution. WVW is what I enjoy the most of GW2 and I would hate for it to become a lag fest. So far in the betas it hasn't been that bad, at least for me. But I have heard from a lot of people complaining about lag, so it is evidently still a problem. Other than that, I can't wait to play GW2! :-) |

Just a small correction to 4: The icon is not a broken heart it is a broken shield. I think it is quite clear, maybe you are just used to other icons and subconsciously were looking for those icons. But if you did not see it it is understandable to complain^^ Well it was not a problem for me because the scout explained all of them to me. "Der Weg ist das Ziel." - "The way is the goal." |

the good thing with flaws like those,is that when you start searching for problems and the only problems that you find are either minor things or things that you prefer diferent,it shows how good the game is OR the potentials of the game.
For instance for me i would like to have mounts and the camera is indeed a bit weird BUT not so much as to not play the game. |

@ the OP.... I didn't really agree with much of what you said - but can I just congratulate you on suporting your criticisms with some personal observations and your own thought-out conclusions. Now please go out and find some of the less bright critics of the game and teach them your skills - it would be much appreciated. |

The only thing i am not a huge fan about is the animation of the characters and how they don't really feel naterual in the envirioment. Other then that, i think the game is amazing.

Combat is not where it need to be. It just isn't fluid enough. One of my biggest irks is the decision to fire off skill no matter how far you are from the target. I had to stare at the tiny "in range" bar under my abilities on ranged characters. Or else look like a dumb ass fire off my abilties as I close in on my target. Other games I can spam my abilities as a I close in without have to look at a range indicator. Utter garbage.

The good news is that if you don't like it, there are plenty of games to play where you can't miss once you've used a skill. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Boy there really is a lot that I just don't like about GW2. I have tried every Beta and stress test and just cannot understand why people like this game. -My biggest complaint is the clunkyness of the combat and character animations. They feel so herky jerky. I have a lot of gripes about WoW, but I will admit that it has extremely fluid combat. -No REAL healers. Sure you can do some stuff like water elemental for some heals but its subpar as hell and just isnt fun. -Downed state. I just don't get this. Especially in PvP combat. Its like a second chance for someone to revive you or take down an enemy so you can come back to life. In PvP its just stupid. I can absolutely destroy someone 1v1 so bad that I barely take a scratch however when I move in for the flag kill I will get rocked! What the hell is that? I have to be in range to plant the flag and cannot dodge or use skills so I end up losing shit tons of health in the process. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? But if not STUPID ASS MECHANIC IS INCREDIBLY STUPID. -Graphics. Just yuck. Seriously the client is so stable but thats obviously because they didn't put much effort into the graphics. They are not good for current generation games. Likely it is to save money due to no sub fee or something? -Questing. Everyone is so praise worthy over how the questing in this game is revolutionary because their are no quests and you just explore yada yada yada. It is questing and just because there are some differences on how you complete them and how you aquire them doesnt make it groundbreaking. Its still kill x and fetch y. Sure there will always be this kind of quest, but look to TSW at least they showed what could be accomplished through innovation. On the same note the group quest style for the quests just isnt very good either, you work with people but never really get to know anyone. Especially when there are tons of people. -WvW: I can't hold this one against GW2, this is just a personal dislike. Large scale PvP is stupid to me. Its a Zergfest. Skill is quite easily overwhelmed by numbers and I just prefer scenario/warzone based PvP. (WHICH OF COURSE GW2 does have). -Scenariors: Majority of objectives are cap and hold. Got boring real fast. -Limited number or skills: Sure you have Elemental class that has access to ALOT of skills at a time, and every class has weapon swap but a lot of classes feel like playing fisher price my first MMORPG with how limited their skill set is. Seriously sometimes it feels like its a kidnegardners game. -No gear progression. I'm torn over this aspect. It creates a more even PvP environment and I guess PvE as well. But this is largely why I stopped playing GW1. Aquiring "skins" for your gear gets pretty boring for me fast. I enjoy making my character grow along with my skill and character progression is one of the main reasons why I enjoy MMORPG's over say FPS's. I understand people like it so far and are hyped for it. Good for them, I am truely glad. Finding an MMORPG you like leads to awesome times so hopefully it lives up to peoples expectations. Spiritsever - AR/Ele - The Secret World Ashmaker - Ranger < Prophets > - Age of Conan - #1 in Kills Sweety - Sorceress < Infinite Darkeness > - SWTOR - 2.6K PvP Rating ??? - Pilot - ??? - EVE Symir - Swordmaster - Warhammer - RR100 Dreadnaught - Rogue - Rift |

Originally posted by UNH0LYEV1L Well all your points is personal and have nothg to do with game :) 1 Combat and Char animation --- Also personal But GW has almost perfect character animation and sounds in combat so you not just waving your sword it feels like you hitting. 2 No REAL healers well its not even personal Its Game feature you like it or not will not change a thing 3 Downed state also game feature and i will never believe your statement 1on1 kill some1 with out scratch and person killed you while in downed. Downed state maybe maximum doing 1/3 of regular damage. 4 Questing also personal its QUESTS you get task you complete it. you cant invent wheel so it will be spaceship. all quests will be same all the time just how you get rewards and different ways of completing may differ. Silly to expect revolution in questing. and TSW example you gave... if you hide quest objective and dont explain it fully doesnt make any innovation it just says its Sub game and they Must try to make their content longer to play Even if only way possible is to hide quests and not making actuall content. 5 WvW Nothg to say here if its Silly dont play it :) just must look at it from different angle its not just pvp and you DON'T need to run with huge groups. pick 4 ppl and do same job but with out "ZergFEST" 6 structuredPvP also personal as its not about objectives its about fun fighting 1vs1 or in small Groups. Easier objectives = more fun you can get from actuall battle and dont think how to complete some rediculous objectives. But also very personal point 7 Limited number of skills Also very personal point. if you person who like quantity over quality game not for you. if you Think TSW has lots of skills GW again not for you. Even Engineer with out ability of switching weapon got 10 abilities which are more than plenty for any situation. GW is for people who can think not just read. tired of explaining to ppl about skills and asking for example of any game with 20+ skills which will be used in single battle or even several. Will just say its personal if cant understand how to use game not for you. Stick with 4 buttons rotation games like wow. 8 Gear progression also game feature if you dont like it dont play it. Also it has huge Gear progression. gear is ten time better at 80 than at 10lvl + trinkets. you saying about rollyourface gear not real gear progression. it has nothg to do with your personal skill prgression. you still will own any1 in WvW if you have real 80 lvl and they are 1-20lvls in real. SPvP different story its just skill dependant. " Aquiring "skins" for your gear gets pretty boring for me fast. I enjoy making my character grow along with my skill and character progression is one of the main reasons why I enjoy MMORPG's" Whats the difference between getting new weapon or getting just new skin for it? i can answer it :) you want to own others with new weapon and show your "power" and with skin you just glad you have new awesome look. So again its an issue for some ppl who feel like they MUST get advantage agains other ppl only because they live in game. and want to have special feeling after 2 shotting enemy. "I understand people like it so far and are hyped for it." again with HYPE game is not hyped you played Every Beta as you said every stress test you TRIED it you SEEN it. its EXPECTATIONS you talking about. |

To be honest, 1. I don't like how they implemented the ranger pets in combat and feel they need some more toughness/armor. 2. I'm having trouble getting used to the controls and moving/dodging in combat all the time. 3. I miss the trinity. It's true. 4. Everyone seems to be in a hurry in the game and I miss the group chit chat. this is just my opinion.... besides that it is a lovely game and I will be playing! |

The game moves very fast. You can go in and out of combat very quickly, and because there is no food or water mechanic (health regenerates quickly after combat) there is no artificial buffer to allow for "talk time." As a result, people move about the world without really interacting with one another. Not once was strategizing discussed. Communication in cities and towns were minimial and sporadic. Grouping is not required, therefore there's even less of a chance of sparking up conversation. This has been the only negative for me with my experiences thus far. Your number 2 which is the floating walk has been seen by many people. However this recent stress test on Sunday, I tried to do this but I just couldn't do it. I spammed by wasdqe keys, but it just didn't work having me to believe this is fixed. For your number 4, you can make the mini map larger so you can see the little icons clearly. I heard a lot of people saying that Humans lack the customization that many of the other races have, charr, asura and even norn. Ok here are some of my pet peeves: When you first start the game it maybe confusing because like me, many of you out there have been hand held and spoon fed by MMOs. Your experience for the first few levels in recent MMOs is to run from NPC to NPC, just talk and recieve newbie gear. Guild Wars 2 doesn't do that and was one of the main things that annoyed me until I got used to the idea that I should just pick a direction and explore. After many hours of gameplay I realized I was doing dynamic events wrong. Sure I finished a dynamic event but I just left after that. I didn't stick around to find out what that NPC did with all those wolf pelts I got him. This caused me to go "looking" for dynamic events and made the game boring to me. Now it's much more fun, I actually stick around after DEs to hear what the NPC says or does. I think if Arenanet could provide some type of feedback when a DE chain is done and when it can continue, that would help a lot of newer players, until they realize they need to stick around. Some DE are to tell when they are done, NPC will set up shop and sell items but even then it's not 100% garunteed. You usually have to wait a couple minutes before you can find out if there is another chain and in todays day and age, that's too long in a MMO imo. There is bug? where if you are defeated (death after downed) and you open up your map looking for a waypoint, you won't see the armor repairs red sheild on the map. I think this might be a bug but you can clearly see how annoying it is to die and then not being able to directly teleport to the closest armor repair NPC. Hopefully this is fixed soon and I'll test it out in tomorrows stress test. Overall, I like the game, I fixed my mistakes and unmolded myself from the norm and now enjoy it to the fullest. |

I haven't played GW2 yet, and I'm looking forward to early access, but if the character movement is still in the state shown in the video, I will be a bit disappointed. It was one of the things that really broke my immersion in SWTOR when my character jumped and then slid a bit on landing. I hate that.
Is feet sliding still in effect?

Originally posted by 7star I tried to replicate that on Sunday during 1 hour stress test, I just couldn't do it. I tried walking diagonally, holding w and pressing a/q and then e/d. Either I was doing it wrong or they fixed it, I think they fixed it cause I spent some time trying this |

Originally posted by Zylaxx I happen to agree with every one of his points except the one about graphics. The graphics are okay, it's the art style I don't care for. I found my observations mirror every one of his other points. I found the game pretty dull overall, and do not like the decision by AN to dumb down the game to the point that everyone is on equal footing at all times in terms of "progression." |
