Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: Was interested because it was a high-profile release (EA Bioware, LA, huge IP, arguably the most expensive game ever made), was not interested in playing it. Do you currently play this game?: No. If yes, please explain why: ---
If no, please explain why: I stopped playing mass market themeparks years ago. What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: I play only one MMORPG at a time, currently it's Wurm, since 3 or 4 months. Full sandbox experience, no quests, no developer-made story, more to do than combat alone. Terraforming, creating my personal space, building and crafting, contributing to the village and the kingdom, keeping my region of the land safe for travellers. What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? Posting rather infrequently on this particular forum, have made maybe 7 or 8 posts here. MMORPGs are one of my hobbies, I find it interesting to see how high-profile releases go and what games can draw a mass audience. And - in the case of SWTOR - I have to admit a bit of Schadenfreude is there too. (Many people enjoy a good trainwreck so now and then. I'm amongst them. Sorry.) I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. Please post or send PM for corrections and suggestions. |

Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: Yes ofc. It was meant to be the "No.1" Star Wars Game. Rich Story attracked me much. Also the well advertised Illum and PvP was main part of my interest. Do you currently play this game?: No.
If yes, please explain why:
If no, please explain why: I was betrayed by good Marketing. The "Illum PvP" was the biggest crap iv'e seen ever sins i started to play PvP Games. As my whole guild saw what we paid for (nearly 50 ppl!), 45 canceld the abo within the first month. Staying alone with no friends is not fun, so i left as well. What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: I am waiting for Guild Wars 2 and play World of Tanks atm to get rid of the waiting Time. Also i purchased The Secret World, which has the best Questing iv'e seen for a long time. But Guild Wars 2 is main focus. The good thing is that i know what i will get, because i had the chance to test it by myself and not get tricked by Marketing. Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: No, I like Star Wars but never was never interested in playing star wars games.
Do you currently play this game?: Not currently but i did. If yes, please explain why:
If no, please explain why: Loved most of the game but not enough to do at level cap that intereste me. What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: Tera, for the world, art design (for the most part) and especially the combat) Waiting for pvp The Secret World for the atmosphere and puzzles. Aion, because I've always played it off an on. Love the world and the avatars and the pvp. A little Final Fantasy 14 because somethign about that game intrigues me. and a little Vanguard for the huge world and exploration.
What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? I'm still interested in playing the game but desire more content to continue. Since I did play the game (and intend to play it againI am interested in discussing it. |

EQ2 - great endgame. TSW - amazing story and world immersion, made by Funcom. LoTRO - great story and world immersion.
I am interested in MMOs and SWTOR is a major MMO release, so always intersting to talk about why it has turned out so poorly.

Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: Only marginally, since the Developers made it clear from the start it was going to be a standard theme park game, and I guess I would have preferred an upgraded SWG since I missed that the first time around. But what the heck, it was Star Wars, so I had to give it a try Do you currently play this game?: No If yes, please explain why: If no, please explain why: I played through one level 50 (Trooper) and got to about level 25 on a 2nd (Assassin?) and became bored with the game. I have no interest in raiding or gear grinding which is why I don't really like any modern MMO's, I favor titles like DAOC, EVE, Lineage 1/2 or Shadowbane. (despite being a carebear at heart) What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: TSW, mostly out of boredom. While it has many standard theme park conventions there's enough different (at least here in my first month) that I don't actually feel like I'm playing WOW clone # 34. What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? Er, as I've mentioned before, I'm a troll.

Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: I was interested because it was Star Wars and because it was BioWare. The reputation of both names peaked my interest. Do you currently play this game?: No. I left once I hit level 30 or so. If yes, please explain why: If no, please explain why: One day I just didn't feel like logging in. When I eventually did log in I just couldn't get myself to do the same thing I'd been doing. It seemed that every zone involved meeting some people that needed help to control the zone. It was all so scripted. Although I had "choice" it didn't feel like my own story - it was theirs, and to be honest - it wasn't that good. What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: I currently play GW1 and am looking forward to Guild Wars 2. They are different enough to keep my interest and seem to take a lot of the mundane out of the traditional MMO experience. What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? I love talking about MMO's and typically respond when something seems interesting. If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game. |

Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: Yes Do you currently play this game?: No If yes, please explain why:
If no, please explain why: I quit because I can no longer justify paying a sub fee with so many great subless MMOs out there atm. The game, imo, was not worth the sub at endgame. Playing multiple alts to see their stories eventually got old because of the same quests. What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: LOTRO is currently my game of choice. I love how they do F2P and a great community always keeps me coming back to that game. What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? I'm still interested in playing the game. The main reason I quit was the subcription. The annoucement of F2P really made me happy and I will play this again when it comes out. This of course is assuming that I like their F2P model. |

Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: Not really, I am a fan of Star Wars but I didn't have high hopes for this game because even before it came out it looked like another boring grinder with no new game mechanics. Do you currently play this game?: Nope If yes, please explain why: If no, please explain why: From looking at the game site at the content list and all the reviews on this forum, it's as bad as or worse than I expected, and therefore shouldn't be touched with a ten foot pole. What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: Eve Online because it has unique, complex and difficult gameplay mechanics and an awesome sandbox environment, and Age of Conan because it allows your female characters to be almost completely nude :) What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? I posted on this because your thread title caught my eye in the "recently edited" thread list, and I don't post often in SWTOR forum threads because I don't bother to play it. |

Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: Yes, I was. I really enjoy the SW universe; I loved KOTOR; Bioware was an exciting company. Do you currently play this game?: No If yes, please explain why: -- If no, please explain why: The game lacked a sense of interaction with the world, for me. Certain RP elements, like emoticons, sitting in chairs, and open-world interaction with others were limited. The end-game was grindy and unappealing. It felt like all stick and no carrot.
What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: LOTRO, WOW: They are both games where I can jump in quickly, have some fun, get something accomplished, and log out to get back to summertime activities. I never played WOW until recently, so it's nice to have access to tons of content and a large online support network. What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? I rarely post because this game was a let-down. It was a good game but it didn't offer an online world experience that I was looking for. I rarely post because, if I don't have something good to say, I try not to say anything at all! Noone isn't a word; It's "no one". On a side note, you can guess where the word "none" came from. |

Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: Yes, I was interested in a new Star Wars MMO, and an MMO finally having a story that I was a part of and not just a lazy backdrop of the game. Do you currently play this game?: Yes.
If yes, please explain why: I play it because I enjoy it. I love the Star Wars universe, I love the atmosphere of the game, I love that there's a story most of all. I love that they actually put effort into making an MMORPG that was exactly what that term (MMORPG) looks like, and stands for.
What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: I'll be playing Guild Wars 2, I love the beta experience so far. Other then that I don't. What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? I've noticed that I have posted in this subforum more frequently because I see tons of trolling and incorrect information being posted on this game, so I tend to come and join such topics in order to provide more accurate information on the topics where this is an issue. |

Were you interested in this game before it came out? Why? Why not?: Absolutely. I thought the Idea of SWTOR was an amazing concept and setting for an MMO. Do you currently play this game?: No.
If yes, please explain why:
If no, please explain why: The game had terrible optimizations and lacked in-game features that a hyped up MMO launching in 2012 would have. Had this have come out around vanillia WoW; the features would have been the best. All-in-all, it was not worth $15/month. Along with the fact that the number of players is dwindling, and no Cross-server functions are being implemented; it would be tedious to find players for group content. When it goes F2P I will return. What MMOs are you currently playing and why do you play these particular titles?: TSW, EvE, Planetside. I bought the LTS for TSW; and EvE will always have my heart. It's hard not too go away from it now What compels you to post in this particular subforum as frequently (or infrequently) as you do? Curiousity about the state of the game. Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW. |
