I am excited to see a major content patch after a month. It doesn't feel like they are only adding content that should have been in before launch, unlike SWTOR's legacy system. How long do you think they can maintain "monthly" updates to the game like this? Do you think they will reduce the frequency to quarterly, and still retain subscriptions? |

Doubt it will last honestly. They all start out like this. The last update was probably made before the game released. Just company BS. Saying things to get people to buy. |

I can understand peopel being skeptical because we've had a number of MMOs come out saying they were going have monthly content updates but none that ever managed to keep to that schedule for more thna a few months. But who knows maybe Funcom will be the first to acheive this goal in a long term way. |

I think they will stick to monthly updates through the end of the year or so.I then think it will be more of a 6-8 week interval like Rift.Maybe they will stay to monthly though, that would be a nice surprise! One can hope:) |

Ya, until proven otherwise I highly doubt they will be able to keep up with meaningfull content updates every month. |

if they do a monthly update, will they also work on expansion or the updates will be "the expansion" ?

Originally posted by Kuppa This sounds about right. Who knows, they have an investor update coming up, and they should talk about sub numbers and retention then. However, I would guess that if they blew out their initial projection that they would be crowing about it loudly, rather than giving away a free weekend trial so soon. "Loading screens" are not "instances". |

Originally posted by BrightestDay I think this is going to be the norm.Instead of pushing a big patch like WOW does every 4-5 month's they will push 3-5 smaller update's and then push maybe a dlc or xpac every so often. It may keep people intrigued enough to keep playing, but who know's?It's that carrot on a stick. Only time will tell if the carrot work's though. |

Originally posted by bcbully Its still early, they say 7 years but only time will tell. If they can pull something off like Rift thats pretty good and thats not monthly. But thats the problem with PVE content in themeparks, its very hard for developers to keep up with their expectations let alone the far fetched expectations of the players. |

I still beleive this game will last much longer than many of you anticipate. There are TONS of legends, myths, conspiracies etc. to pick and choose from. They can implement and re-make any place on the planet in the game that players can visit depending on the quest/mission. People are just fed up with the fantasy genre. So yeah, I think that TSW will succeed. First of all because the game appeals more to the older generation and not kids. Second of all, I don't even expect kids to pay for their subscriptions. I am 29, have a job and play games every now and then. $15 is what one beer in a bar in my country costs. I think I can skip one beer, even though I end up playing only for a few days a month. |

I found the first "major" update 1.1 a little underwhelming. Yes chat issues remain, the new Auction House is suffering major delays and bugs. Several of these "new" missions were actually in beta and removed right before release, no matter what Ragnar says to the contrary, I remember playing them. I hope things pickup and start getting better soon or Im gonna lose ALL interest by the time GW2 arrives. I have no problem maintaining multiple subscriptions to game(and i do) that I like and where i can see actual steady improvments but i refuse to pay a sub purely for "potential" Watch your thoughts; they become words. |

I suspect the amount of content in monthly updates and their regular delivery will depend a great deal on how much money the game makes. No game developer can sink huge amounts of development time (time = money) into a game that's not profitable. And FC is not rolling in cash by any stretch of the imagination.
I love TSW, but I fear for it's future. It's a niche game, and I really hope it can keep enough players to survive. The fact that FC have called an "extraordinary meeting of shareholders" in August worries me. |

Originally posted by Kenze No you don't. Because they weren't in there. I was in beta and closed. The only mission that was cut and put back in with this update was the one in Kingsmouth and it's not counted as one of the 7.
Also missed from this thread is a few item missions were included and no one was told about them. We found one in City of the Sun God last night. We confirmed with a few cabal mates that had full completion there. Animations updates, Art update, Lore/Achievement update, U key to use item functionality. Boss updates in multiple elite dungeons. Actually tons of stuff not listed. Why Funcom isn't listing all this stuff, I don't know. It's like they're just hitting on the main points in the notes and all the others stuff is like - you'll find out when you see it.
Chat works fine now - except the create new tab thing. It will unsubscribe you if you go into a new zone and you'll have to resubscribe again. If you just use the general tab, you will still see your private channels even after you zone. The problem there is running the risk of seeing spoilers from all the a-holes whom play these MMOs.
The Investigative missions are pretty great. If you don't google, it will take you at least a few hours to days to finish them. But of course most don't and just get the answer /yawn and say no new content. I think if you don't cheat and try to figure most the stuff out on your own, the missions could last you about a week of figuring out yourself. Maybe less. Two new Nightmare Dungeons - No idea on this. Haven't run a Nightmare yet, but beat the gatekeeper a few days ago.

If you're worried about the monthly updates not being worth the subscription, here's an easy way to fix it:
- Cancel your sub when you run out of content and get bored - Resub once there have been enough content patches to provide you with $15 worth of value
Problem solved. |

Originally posted by Kenze I remember playing them too. Especially the one in Kingsmouth at the hippie-camp. When I found out I was quite negatively surprised. Sure, they can't pull huge content out of their sleves every month but selling it as huge and new... I don't know... just isn't right. |

Originally posted by Carpara Well they were either going to do large content patches or give us a trickle of content every month. This is kind of new territory for a mmorpg as most games wont add content untill well after launch. I agree it was small, august apparently will have a significant content patch. I think it was more a gesture with this first patch. Letting us know that new content will happen every month, even the first month. Even if the content is small its a nice gesture to people who are paying them monthly. Personally im not sure if i would prefer it on a monthly basis or once a year with huge content patches...dont think i really care as long as they keep adding to the game. |
