In WoW, humans are the #1 played race with 19%. After that, in order, it's: Blood Elf, Night Elf, Worgen, Draenai, Orc, Troll, Dwarf, Gnome, Goblin
Methodology: For this analysis, 2,113,286 characters were recorded (as of July 27, 2012). The data were collected by the installable add-on program "Warcraft CensusPlus UI Mod", i.e. only players who have installed this add-on program can be recorded for this analysis.
And that's really typical in MMOs as far as I've played. You'll get a lot of humans. You'll get a bunch in the non-human 'pretty' races (elves). Then it drops hard.

This thread is kind of pointless. The big ugly races never get picked as much... it's not a new trend. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

2 Selenite Hitboxes are the same? So, if an Asura stands in front of Charr, and i click on Charr's head, i'll select an Asura?
I'll try to illustrate:
So you're saying that in this situation i'll select an Asura instead of Charr, since his hitbox for the purpose of checking if cursor is pointing at him is the same size as that of a charr? |

Despite who is selected, if you have the charr targetted and he is behind the asura, if your don't scatter upon attacking the charr, the asura in front would get damage also. Skills in this game don't influence only the person targetted, and often times I find the need to manually target at all the be almost non existant. The way the game automatically targets the nearest enemy upon using a skill pretty much makes manual targetting a feature I rarely use.
Also, the issue with the example proposed isn't with the hitbox size, but with its placement. Obviously a shorter race would have a hitbox that is lower to the ground. Using a larger alternate race making the height difference even more prominent didn't help either, since the charr's hitbox would be higher up than a human's. |

2 Aishirami Yea, i know that GW2 has true collision, so i wont hit Charr behind an Asura, but since i selected him because of him being bigger, and now i'm always attacking him, overall he will get more pounding unless he's always hiding behind somebody. In case of, for example, us chasing them, he'll most likely get picked off, slowed immobilised and killed, rather than the small guy, even though the small guy can absorb the first hit if he still stays in front of him when my attack is fired. Small guy dodges to the side - i continute having the Charr selected and continue attacking him, since i selected him before. The game doesnt re-target to a new closer target each time, so first target aquisition still has impact. |

Originally posted by IstrebiteI That, again, has nothing to do with hitbox size. It is the hitbox placement relative to the ground that is the cause for the charr being selected. There is nothing you can do to change the fact that objects up off the ground are more noticable (and most click at around eye level by habit when trying to select a target.) than something very close to the ground. People just have to get used to clicking lower to the ground, or maybe a bit more accurately since the image of the player itself is smaller and less noticable. |

Yeh i am pretty sure they will be as popular as Asura and Sylvari, likely more given the fact most gamers are either teenage boys or 40 year old versions of teenage boys. The only reason they were fewer this last time around was due to Sylvari and Asura first being presented.
Also this is not darkfall, while the combat is action oriented its still a tab based targeting system. |

Honestly, I think Charr are going to be one of the more popular races. Plant people probably the least, IMO. |

Basically, the issue has nothing to do with hitboxes, and everything to do with people being morons who think that smaller=harder to target/hit. Unfortunately, that may actually mean something in pvp, because player perception does sometimes supercede reality.
Oh and to those that doubt the hitbox size of the Asura...try to walk under something that's a foot or two above your head. Notice that you can't. |

Originally posted by terrant LOL oh that even removes the issue of height difference in my posts. The other reason would only be that they where getting ridaculed for being less skilled than others, and could only make delussional excuses to claim they weren't.
And delussional is a very accurate description of this excuse, since the excuse does not exist.
Really, at this point, this thread should just get locked. |

Originally posted by heartless Makes we wonder also. A majority of the missions in the game don't even take that long to finish. Well, unless you stay on 1 investigation mission for hours on end. I usually just skip them and go do the other missions and just complete them last. That way you have the others on reset timers. BOOYAKA! |
