I don''t have to know how to make a better game, I only need to know where the "CANCEL" button is! |

Unless you are wow, you don't make money off of subs. Most profit is made off of initial sales. AoC initial sales netted 2mill in profit.
And about gw2. PvE isn't meant to keep most people playing, just enough to guarantee that expansions net profit, just like gw1.

This is not unexpected, seeing as thi have been EA's way of doing stuff for some time. This makes me even more ceartin that WAR actually makes to little money to be worth switching over to F2P... And that is kinda sad in several ways. This have been a good conversation |

They make games way to easy these days and it doesnt hold the attention of the player base. Im sorry but for the amount of time nad money this game was just bad. More and more games try to fit into the single player console style rpg and it just doesnt work. Who wants to pay 15/month for a single player game?
Still cant believe they got rid of SWG for this, SWG though having a small player base was 100 times the mmo TOR was. Bring it back now, you probably make more money from SWG than you would TOR. |

Good Sirs, if you see the Bioware dudes next time, can you, with all given politeness, ask them WHEN THE HECK I WILL GET MY DAMN NAMES BACK THEY STOLE FROM ME WHEN ABANDONING MY SEVRVER? Sorry. That really, really, REALLY upset me. And I really, really would wish to know an answer to that. Can you and your associates arrange that? Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

you are right about that but seriously people can talk all the crap they want about warhammer online but if they made it free to play where you pay for the tiers and other stuff they would see a HUGE player increase because anyone who enjoys pvp similiar to GW2 and DAOC will go and play it. WAR is a great game at its core design but mythic is just idiots with the lack of patches and communication with their community. WAR was doing fine until mythic lost most of their staff and stopped all talk with its community now its just a damn husk and sell of its former self. Some of my favorite memories recently came out of WAR at release next to DAOC its the most fun ive had in a mmorpg. |

If you see no good or you see no bad in a game, chances are you are bias. |

Originally posted by terrant I disagree. F2P can be called a 'rehatch' in terms of attempting to return attention to a game but its not really used as a cash rake. Its not as 'ensured' as a F2P model and companies typically want a generally 'steady' income rather then spuradic for as much as possible.
Rift still remains P2P and is even coming out with an expansion. I see F2P as ultimately a point where a game has lost a lot of momentum and needs to pick it up. |

It's nice to see so many people have so much to say about TOR; a game that used to be THE MOST popular game out there. Now that TSW and GW2 have taken that spot, because the graphics are cooler or whatever, TOR is rubbish because of the F2P model. I mean there are nice games that are sometimes free, so sub games that are B2P aren't always the best way to go, but usually developers need to recoup their money in a hurry. Langsdorff |

Originally posted by gaeanprayer TSW doesn't need to go F2P. They already have Sub+Cashshop. 1. It didn't cost an astronomical amount to develop, unlike SW:TOR. 2. And thus it needs far less subs to sustain the game and still make enough profit. 3. It already has a CashShop directly from start selling cosmetic fluff, which already seems to be doing very well, as people are buying stuff in there like crazy. So they already make a ton of money on this.

Originally posted by JeroKane I wouldn't be so sure. AoC, another Funcom game, went to F2P model. If TSW is under 100K subs then it may have to go there too. |

Buyer beware, the dropped box price is enticing but why make it all look so good? Could have kept the price up around $40 and made some change, the lower price is because they have a plan for the days ahead to make f2p look generous now but ream people later.
