Title says it all. SWTOR killed 8 years of memories because it was greedy, and it couldn't last more than 8 months, just sad. If they made the themepark/sandbox hybrid we all asked for instead of VO without gameplay we would all be talking about how WOW is going FTP.

Why?
because SWTOR was overhyped by the community, not developers. And many people got this game for the wrong reasons (nothing gameplay related)
This is why this game seem like fail to the masses.

So when they said they projected 3-5 mill but weren't ruling out 10 mill they weren't over hyping? When they claimed they invented story and were the first VO MMO (despite DCU doing it first) they weren't trying to drum up hype? Not to mention hype has 0 to do with which game was a better game when you played it. mmorpg.com/blogs/Xobdnas |

If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s FF-XIV. |

I voted yes, why because it lasted june 26th 03- dec 15th 11. The whole time on subs. It had 10,363 sub. on its last night. 7+ years with the sub model. |

SWG was years ahead of it's time and many MMO's of today cannot replicate many aspects of the game today. I know it had it's faults but re-release it today without the bugs and todays graphics, it would rock. |

SWTOR is still profitable, according to Bioware. However, if SWG were to come out today, it would be FTP too. That is what people are into these days. Error: 37. Signature not found. Please connect to my server for signature access. |

I voted no, cause there never was any reason for comparrison of these two games. I loved SWG until nge, but SWTOR was never planed as a replacement, from the moment bioware was announced as the maker i knew this would be a story driven mmo. So i bought it to play the story and then quit..... nice story and nice coop game. |

Originally posted by Scummyman I doubt it. Thats like saying, releasing Vanilla WoW, without bugs, today would have the same success.... nope.
new generation of MMO gaming mindset.

Edit:
from prereleaseall I can remember from the SWTOR community was this back and forth with GW2 community, and the hype over the fact its a MMO in the StarWars universe (so the hell what), and that its Story Focused (So the Hell What), and its made by Bioware (So the F***ing Hell What).

If even a fraction of the people who won't shut the hell up about SWG had actually been playing it, it wouldn't be a distant (rose coloured) memory. |

Originally posted by Scummyman Agreed.. especially with updated graphics and story lines... would not have gone free to play this fast. SWTOR was crap.. the subs showed that and didn't even last a year without going free to play. How long did SWG last? 5 years ish? (I have no clue). Either way, SWG > SWTOR hands down. I would kill for a game with the same gathering/crafting system, player housing, pvp and pre combat upgrade. |

Not sure. TOR's CGI trailers rock. Oh wait, that's not gameplay. |

I think it proves it in abundance, SWG never went F2P. They killed it for SWTOR F2P. How to post links. Check it Archeage |

I loved Galaxies as it gave me freedom to do what ever i wanted, i could craft, do up my 2 sandcrawlers as part of the "lil Green Rodian trading company", do Tusken King ect, explore, do quests, socialise amongst many many oher things. Personaly, to me it was the better game, in the end i could hardly do 8-9 hours a week on SWTOR before unsubbing but could easily do that a day on SWG. Star Wars Galaxies relaunch by December 2012 |
